Synopsis

As society rises from the ashes of war, cybernetically augmented arena fighters battle for fame and fortune... or die trying.

It's the 19th century, and the world has entered the Era of Rebirth, recovering from the devastating flames of war. The sport of mechanical martial arts has galvanized the nations. Cybernetically augmented fighters turn their blood into steam and their bodies into brutal fighting—and killing—machines.

Young Levius is one of those arena battlers, hell-bent on winning in order to simply survive.

The new Netflix anime that nobody asked for but got anyways. Made by Polygon Pictures who are known for bringing us fully cgi anime that nobody wants but get anyways.
The new boxing anime called Levius.

Story:
We follow a young man named Levius who have made a reputation for himself as a metal boxer. Where you fight with prosthetic body parts with the help of a special kind of steam called Hyper Steam which you can control on your own.

I found the concept as well as the steampunk setting to be very interesting, but sadly they don't explore it that much or the world in general. Which read more

TL;DR middling show that is based more in its aesthetic than its story or characters.

Some spoilers, nothing explicit but implied

I will say that I enjoy story for what it is. A simple rising third rate boxer trying to move up the ranks with some mystery past is a good base and the pacing for growth is quite good except for the telegraphing. It’s good to foreshadow, it isn’t good when you can deduce an entire plot line of an episode the first time round.

The art is typical 3D Netflix affair but having recently watched Kengan Ashura, the fluidity is missing so I’m ranking it read more

Despite the CGI, the action of this show was actually interesting to watch, the fights were well build and had some basic to relentless strategy on it, although sometimes the scenes had some obvious low framerates and static/repetitive characters in the background, but no big deal.

As for the story, it seems decent, although it wont explore clearly the main characters intention and their reason to engage in fights from the beggining, which is kind good and bad at the same time, since it creates some environment of mistery while also kind of make hard to relate with them until later on, specifically Levius due to read more

This is one of those short anime that kept me glued to the screen.

The story made me feel for the characters, and whoever practiced any sort of combat sports knows about the feelings portrayed in the anime: comradery, the will to keep pushing and becoming better.

I see that a lot of reviewers disliked the CGI and the story.
The art was amazing and so was the story in my opinion.

Hating CGI anime solely for the sake of agreeing with the status quo, that's just snobbism, and a poor attempt of achieving elitism.

Mediocre anime? The reviews do not do it justice.
