I'll for sure look more into history, I've been doing a lot of it for class recently anyways. And yes I'm a huge AOT fan, definitely my favorite anime tied with HxH (86 being a close contender as well). I think I remember hearing about those machine guns but I hadn't seen a picture, looked it up and it really is SO similar omg.
I'm sad that it hasn't gotten an announcement yet either but I'll keep my hopes up that it will come sooner rather than later.

I'm fully agree! that in extended version only more 20 minute of him doing nothing but talking about philosophy give him full character development and very fitting with him. The theme of season 3 was more in grand scale with we get to see more of political power from other nation and the story progress from sibyl system and immigrant that come into play.
Yeah I just start reading novel see the different in term of story-telling inside Alba on how they became like this in anime. and since there's still no announcement for season2 in their anniversary event (Have you seen that? it's amazing) I will stay with 86 novel for a while.
I'm person who's love mech genre for their design and creative but I'm not watch them all since most of them failed in term of story-telling except for some like Code Geass, Gurren Lagann or even Gundam(Except for Hathaway's Flash since i'm rating the movies as on par of 86 since It's great) I'm agree that 86 was built different with both story telling and the diversity in term of audience that you can probably sway a person who's hate mech to get into this show since the romance part which kind of from Shoujo a bit will attract the others and those who's enjoy mech will get those fantastic whole action package as a bonus just like you said.
only show that I probably love the tension and conflict of nationality and ideology more than 86 was Gundam UC era (Hathaway'Flash again) the dark theme of 86 was telling from the perspective of child soldier like in Gundam Ironblood Orphan but the fact that these adorable children have to be sacrifice lamb to pull-off the dark tone of story in the first part. I will say that It's great but cannot be reuse much since It will feel more predictable and 86 took another approach and let these 86 5 survivor live as a living legend carry their friend's memory as a motivate to live and it's nice too.
If you want me to recommend something great as Psycho Pass I will dm you on discord few animes that I though has a amazing story-telling in their own way and very unique to others anime you have seen in Industry.
Yeah Sawano and Kohta I don't know about chemistry but they look like duo or maybe Senpai-Kouhai relationship in term of Music Making. the only show I was still prefer as Sawano as his highest peak of music piece was from Gundam Unicorn. I love every Sawano song from every show even one I haven't watch yet but Unicorn was something else for me.

Shield Hero OST was surely neat and I never heard of the composer name before watching Shield Hero but the OST was fitting with the show.
Urobutcher becoming meme at this point from the dark grimming script writing to whatever show he touch someone will die in miserable way.
The first season Rivalry of Makishima and Kougami feel real and it has benefit of 22 Episode and some Cameo in Movies so their chemistry and rivalry got explain and emphasize more than other Antagonist and Protagonist in the series. But beyond that It's them that create the foundation for what we will see in later seasons and character both in world building perspective and character development of the others that why I love everything about Psycho-Pass.
86 first Part get you a new vibe for both Survival and Mech Genre that will make you question why this adorable kid have to die in the first place and the twist society of 86 World as a whole and then when we got to Part 2 the tone and theme of Part 1 will get tone down like 70% and you get to see more of something "Happy" that doesn't belong in first part except every scene Lena doing Cute thing since when 86 squadron smile someone has to dies in the next fews minute. I personally think that's why some may not like part 2.
But even with this I'm still enjoy the change of Part 2 a lot since I have watch dark show in a row and having to more Happy like tone in 86 give me a nice feeling of change and with Shoujo theme of Lena and Shin also coming too in both part 2 and following Story. I'm more happy and love both theme of 86 whether Part 1 or 2.
I will read Novel soon and from your comment I think the plot of world building will drop or get tone down and will focus more on relationship of character i think maybe we will see more plot-hole in world building and get more content from drama from both backstory and character relationship.
Kohta's work very well with the combo with Sawano's Hard hitting beat since his song will shine the best amid the great insert song from Sawano to change to mood and sway the tone to fit with the scene.

Didn't know that about the author, that makes me respect her and the story even more. There's just so much to unpack. I'll need to do some research on how it relates to actual history, I only knew about the alba and the eagle heheh. I just really hope A-1 decides to make another season, I think it could become much more popular than where it's currently sitting if they stick with it.
about Psycho-Pass series as a whole mean a lot to me and I love every bit of this series not just OG from Urobuchi Gen but all of them and I enjoy every SS.Case a bit too much. even tho I love OG team and Makishima the most. I still love all character and the world as a whole as the we get to know more about Sibyl System and what line beyond. personally I think why people love first season the most and not give the others and novel a chance because of the dark theme that use to be in the first usually attrach people to this series even tho the others perspective of Psycho-Pass was also great. Just like when People watch 86 Part 1 and feel like Part 2 was missing dark theme from deathbait in every episode and Politic and Discrimination of Alba in Part 1 and usually feel like the show was drop but in fact it not It just all part of Storytelling and with this change we got to see one of the best reunion scene in Anime. I even like the romance from 86 more than most of romantic anime.

I'm in 86 discord community and when the last EP. drop everyone just IIIIMAAA! posting and about novel I will take your suggestion and find the first 2 vol. on online site first and continue with the one I have bought recently so I will get to enjoy every bit of 86 from the start.
as for OST from 86 both Sawano and Kohta doing very well and fulfill the scene as the role of both composer is like an Yin-Yang for me. Sawano will make the show great with the scene that utilize both Sawano Drop and Emotional Song and Kohta will usually make the song fit with the ambient and pacing of the scene.

for Psycho-Pass I love every aspect of the world building both protagonist and antagonist especially in OG Psycho-Pass and as much as I love Kougami and Akane I'm also ShinLena diehard fan from now on and looking for more in Novel (just bought 86 Vol. 3 4 5 6 no 7 yet since it out of stock for now)
