The official website for Studio Gaina has announced four new projects. The projects are Aoki Uru, which has been in production since 2013, a new series in the Top wo Nerae franchise titled Top wo Nerae 3 (working title), as well as the two series Rescue Academia and Akubi wo suru ni wa Wake ga Aru.

Aoki Uru is planned for a 2022 premiere. An image board for the series is currently being displayed at Shinjuan Daitokuji in Kyoto. Rescue Academia, a kids anime that uses drones and programming for robots, is planned for a 2021 TV broadcast, while more information for two final titles will be announced at a later date.

Studio Gaina is a new studio established by Kinoshita Group and Fukushima Gainax in August 9.

Shame to see but not unexpected. Gainax has been in decline for several years now as most of its core and reputed staff have left, as well as the fact that the Studio has been shaky for essentially its entire life.

However I was hoping that this film would be completed as a final legacy of Gainax since its also the sequel of the film that put their name into the industry, and as well as the film is one of my all time favorites and have been waiting for a few years for it to premiere. At the very least I'm glad it will be a completed project. One can only hope that it does well, although I do not think it will compare with the original film.

That's because it isn't Gainax, it's an ex-branch.

Oh, so Fukushima Gainax is a side branch going independent, I see now. I haven't really been keeping up with Gainax news recently, so forgive my assumption that Studio Gaina and OG Gainax were basically one and the same.

Oh it's fine! no worries. I think people are just misunderstanding and confuse the two even though yes, it is a side-branch. I just want to clear things up as well since people are jumping over assuming it is the actual Gainax ^^U

"Studio Gaina"

At first I thought this was supposed to be "Gainax" but it's probably a typo.

But anyway, Gainax shows are getting boring, tbh...

Gainax is ded without Imaishi... Not necessary needed such crappy bootleg sequel

Gainax started dying as soon as Anno left.
More like it started dying as soon as Toshio "Otaking" Okada left.

I'm trying to think of something interesting to say, but all I can think about is why they felt the need to remove the 'X' from 'Gainax'. Like, you can't break from your past just by removing one letter from your former name.

Oh well, at least we get more Top Wo Narae.

I'm not sure how to feel about this. Most of the big Gainax staff from the old days are gone so it doesn't seem like they got much to work off of.

I mean I've been waiting for Aoki Uru for a long time now so it's interesting that it's finally happening, but I'm not sure where they're going with Top wo Nerae 3 or Rescue Academia. You could kinda argue that TTGL was already Top wo Nerae 3 but whatever...I'll still try them out myself. Who knows, they could still be pretty cool.

Wait you're saying Gurren Lagann isn't Top wo Nerae 3 XD
I feel like Rescue Academia will have that traditional anime feel but the newcomers would either not notice it or hate it.

I'm aware that Aoki Uru is not new. I actually posted one of the old news for it. Maybe I didn't word it clearly, but it's a "NEW" work for the new studio: Studio Gaina.

Aoki Uru is not new, its been in conceptual stages since the days of Evangelion. It was supposed to be originally directed by Anno but after all the lawsuits and shit with Khara he is most definitely not getting involved. Oh well we will see where that goes.

As for top wo nerae 3...it has potential

This sounds interesting. Wonder if they can hold onto their promises. I'm certainly rooting for the staff.

Fukushima Gainax (Gaina) and Gainax is not the same, as much as it sounds weird. They've been on their separate ways for a while now, even if the namechange was only recent.

And as much as I love the stuff Imaishi puts out in general, I hate it when people hype him up he's some kind of savior of anime. He's not even close accomplishing that - not that anime needs saving anyway - and I don't think he even cares. Leave that to Yamakan :D

This Aoki Uru is going to be the best anime film of the 1990s.

Imaishi is not so relevant.

Top wo nerae 3? Seriously? These guys will defile the first installments.
In my language gaina means chicken.
Diebuster arguably already did that with the original, so whatever.

Also judging by the synopsis, it barely sounds like a Top wo Nerae! title at all.

Sep 7, 2018 1:25 PM by Unowen

They haven't even started anything and a lot of people are kicking their balls up here. Not everyone but some people.

I'll just wait until they release something to judge a bit for an impression at most.

Edit: I just realized what someone said above me so I had to edit it a little bit.

That's not Gainax, it's an ex-branch of them.
