I think the Anime industry is running out of ideas.
Please don't touch YuYu Hakusho and Akazukin Chacha.

Some keep saying “hype” and “childhood memories”, but I’m here thinking “why?”. Also if they are going to remake something at least make sure that the new series have better production values than the old one (something I don’t see here). PV#1 is just meh from a production standpoint.
Again, I don’t see the point of this remake besides the producers (and publishers) trying to cash in on the whole 2018 World Cup hype (+ nostalgia). Instead, they should have adapted another soccer manga (example: 1/11: Juuichi Bun no Ichi), but nope… lets just do a remake of this.
Now that I think about it, an adaptation of 1/11: Juuichi Bun no Ichi would have been pretty cool.

I hope they will use some new characters also later in story. Or in some less important (shorter) matches. I bet they are aiming to promote Tokyo Olimpics 2020 with this anime.

Also, Slam Dunk.. pls don't
Well, FIFA World Cup 2018 is coming soon.. so maybe its another influence for this remake.. maybe.. coz I can't think of another reason except.. they're running out of ideas.

No it would be Inazuma Eleven.
Inazuma Eleven came way after. Captain Tsubasa is the original physics defying one.

It'll really suck if it doesn't even make it to the end of what the first anime did, and even then. As cool as it would be to get an adaption of the manga exclusive series. The space between the first chapter and the end of road to 2002 is like 70 volumes. I honestly can't imagine they're going for that, not in the slightest.
