Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni. on MAL

This thread is just hilarious. You guys think it will be either a KonoSuba or trash, but instead it's just a generic Isekai with an OP MC. His OP-ness has absolutely nothing to do with the smartphone. The Smartphone is just there, cause I dunno, as a garnish to make it seem different. And the girls are bland tropes.

Plus, it's Slice of Life (mainly) so you can bet on no story progression whatsoever.

At the end, Whoever this appeals to is going to be happy.

Why almost all Isekai show have OP character? Why it is so hard to find a wonderful world like in Konosuba, where we have flying cabbages, slimmy toads, nice friend and party ? I feel like Isekai shows is some kind of service for losers in reality, those cant do anything in this world and hope they could travel to another world and fuck it really hard. It should be more about the world, not all about the MC!

What really sucks about all these isekai stories, at least for me, is how narrowly presented the plot and world building are, and how much the story is centered on the protagonist (mainly how much awesome stunt he can pull off), and pretty much himself alone, while everybody else like the heroines get very little, if any, meaningful screen time to justify their existence, which completely defeats the point of it being a harem in the first place.

Man, sometimes when it comes to isekai stuff i wish they'd adapt some good xianxia with more meaningful storytelling than these bunch of crap

I see so many people complaining about it only from reading synopsis...
I wonder how many of these critics already read LN?

I am not telling you that it is 10/10 LN but I have to laugh because somebody only manage to read synopsis and tell "It is definitely trash!"

How in the hell is he going to charge his phone without a charger? I wonder if theres an electricity and plug on that world. Oh wait I might be thinking too much.. This is an anime after all can't question it.

Do we even need to mention this will be a generic piece of garbage at this point?

No, it won an award and ANN reviews said it was good.

yeah an award like tokyo awards? what a joke. Those awards have no credibility anymore.

We all know that it will turn out to be shitty...
But we will watch anyways.

I'm hype, sounds like it'll be right up my ally.

Sounds like a shitty version of KonoSuba, but I'll give it a watch nonetheless.

FINALLY, an LN fantasy harem adaptation. When was the last time we had one of these?

*checks season lists*

Looks like Masou Gakuen in Summer 2016 was the last one.

I know the source material appears as cliched as fuck, but it's almost like a dying breed nowadays.

*muses to myself whether or not non-reverse harem is dying anime genre*

Gotta love how so many people on here writes off a series as being shit without even watching or reading it...Am I on 4chan or something?

Another day, another shitty LN nonsensical adaptation... Whatever I guess, at least the girls are cute. Still gonna pass on this one.

Hmmm...... a harem tag.... obligatory watching material I guess so I can get into any ship and commence a waifu war.

I thought that he went to a world of smartphones where he will befriend smartphones. I didn't know why I expected that. I guess after KonoSuba, I was expecting something different. Although the character designs intrigued me, because flat and non-oversized boobs are my favorite type of things. I might actually end up liking it for the waifus and not the story like all my harem ever.

Besides, just like this thread, people shits on KonoSuba announcement too in MAL. Now look at that, one of the biggest selling anime with LN sales of over 3m and BD/DVD averages on 10k+ each. So I really would reserve my judgement and hold off the pitchfork, people.

It's called a trend. It happens in all industries, not just anime. Just an example; Infinity Ward had to fight tooth and nail to get Modern Warfare made, because Activision said that no one wanted modern settings in shooter games. An year later, they had to fight tooth and nail to get World at War made, because Activision said that no one wanted historical settings in shooter games anymore. Same shit is happening in anime right now. Isekai anime are popular. Therefore, make more Isekai anime to cash in on the hype.

Actually the Isekai genre has existed for decades going all the way back to classic works like the Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan etc. Anime had some well established titles like Twelve Kingdoms, El Hazzard and like. Unfortunately modern Isekai has most be infected with male power fantasies which is why it is looked down a upon nowadays. hopefully as the better stuff in genre will continue to be adapted to pushback against some of the criticism.

I'm not saying it's never existed. I'm saying that the trend didn't start until recently. Just like how Modern Warfare truly kickstarted the trend of FPS games set in the modern day, SAO's success is, I assume, where the "fire" was first kindled for Isekai anime.

Are these LNs like, self-published? Or does Japan really have publishing standards this low? Like, how does this trash get accepted anywhere?

These are still decently written compared to newbie western and chinese novels.

Good... This is for me, probably. The waifus looks fappable too...

Well, this shit has real polygamy on it. Yep, a real harem. You'll probably like it haha.

Ohhh, a wacky relationship flags huh... I'll try to see what it has for me... For now, a good stuff... Yeah...

I wish my ship will sail...

OP MC that fools around doing things that have no real purpose. It's good on what it's trying to do, but if you're expecting some sort of a cohesive plot in the long run, meh, just look for something else.
