Just like how Modern Warfare truly kickstarted the trend of FPS games set in the modern day, SAO's success is, I assume, where the "fire" was first kindled for Isekai anime. |

I thought that he went to a world of smartphones where he will befriend smartphones. I didn't know why I expected that. I guess after KonoSuba, I was expecting something different. Although the character designs intrigued me, because flat and non-oversized boobs are my favorite type of things. I might actually end up liking it for the waifus and not the story like all my harem ever. Besides, just like this thread, people shits on KonoSuba announcement too in MAL. Now look at that, one of the biggest selling anime with LN sales of over 3m and BD/DVD averages on 10k+ each. So I really would reserve my judgement and hold off the pitchfork, people. |

| What really sucks about all these isekai stories, at least for me, is how narrowly presented the plot and world building are, and how much the story is centered on the protagonist (mainly how much awesome stunt he can pull off), and pretty much himself alone, while everybody else like the heroines get very little, if any, meaningful screen time to justify their existence, which completely defeats the point of it being a harem in the first place. Man, sometimes when it comes to isekai stuff i wish they'd adapt some good xianxia with more meaningful storytelling than these bunch of crap |
| Why almost all Isekai show have OP character? Why it is so hard to find a wonderful world like in Konosuba, where we have flying cabbages, slimmy toads, nice friend and party ? I feel like Isekai shows is some kind of service for losers in reality, those cant do anything in this world and hope they could travel to another world and fuck it really hard. | This thread is just hilarious. You guys think it will be either a KonoSuba or trash, but instead it's just a generic Isekai with an OP MC. His OP-ness has absolutely nothing to do with the smartphone. The Smartphone is just there, cause I dunno, as a garnish to make it seem different. And the girls are bland tropes. Plus, it's Slice of Life (mainly) so you can bet on no story progression whatsoever. At the end, Whoever this appeals to is going to be happy. |
