The first two Love Live singles seem to be back in stock now. 3rd one seems to be hanging on for dear life with weird 9-11 day shipping estimates and will probably fall well below it's first week potential. Hibike looks like it won't be restocked for another couple weeks. The Love Live Movie OST also looks like it's going to be a fairly big seller so it'll probably happen to it too. Again it's probably good for idol anime fans sake that Nippon Columbia has been handling most of the iDOLM@STER music releases (though not all) and a few of the Muse members solo albums like the upcoming Aya Uchida one otherwise it'd be even worse.

I see. I did not consult the pages here. Out of habit, I always check the "Wikipedia", "Wikia" and "AniDB". Also read the "hiragana" that appears on the "kanji" names. And if doubt persists, I search for books or other source material to see if it is written in "romaji". And if you have more than one way to write, I usually take the most "common".

I've seen the official romaji as NANJO Yoshino on her website (http://nbcuni-music.com/yoshino_nanjo/) and HIKASA Yoko on her website (http://hikasayoko.com/). So it is hard to justify adding a "u" after the "o", even if it follows hepburn romanisation.

The one thing I don't agree with is Niko... as the intended reading of the kanji is "YAZAWA Nico". Same with the use of Eri here instead of the intended reading as "AYASE Eli". Seems really strange, when they follow official romanisation for Yoshino and Yoko here right?

Source of official romanisation for Nico and Eli...

The 3rd LL movie single managed to break the record for the highest daily sales for a CD within the LL franchise, with 39,743 on day 1. The previous record holder was the Best Live collection II album at 34,179 on day 1. Perhaps we will see ~90K 1st week sales this time? I won't guess 100K since this is Lantis who we are talking about.

It's mindboggling just how well LL music sells. Certainly, it's pretty much the only idol anime I consider worth my time, but still, those numbers are nothing short of ridiculous.

I wonder if they plan to do an anime adaptation of the Love Live! Sunshine!! Idol in the future.

It's inevitable. The SunShine project started just like the original started. New fan-participated project revealed, fans get to suggest a selection for the group name, the voting of the group name, and now there is a 1st single + 1st anime PV. I wouldn't be surprised to hear Aqours get split into subunits, get a 1st live concert... the same drill.

What will be more interesting, is how much the 1st single ends up selling in October.

@EJC: It's been a bit of a watershed year for Lantis even though they've been doing anime music for a while. They're mostly known for supplying soundtracks, not for big time gold disc sales and having a lot of popular music all at the same time. This week alone they are responsible for u's, Kuroke, Hibike, Yuki Nagato, Daisuke Ono, and I believe the idolmaster theater collection. Nippon Columbia distributes idolmaster vanilla and Cinderella Girls on behalf of Bandai Namco group but Lantis carries Million Live and SideM otherwise they'd be even more bottlenecked. Needless to say if it's anime related music there's a reasonably good chance Lantis is behind it.

Some helpful resources to see who their artists and the anime they've supplied soundtracks for.

It's also not exactly uncommon for things affiliated with the Bandai Visual group which owns Lantis to have production issues one way or another.

I realised that as well the other day, as it was surprising to see the Hibike OST having Lantis as its label on Amazon JP. I agree with you there that anything associated with Bandai Visual will most likely have stock issues along the line. The infamous stock outages for Vol.1 and Vol.2 of Girls und Panzer, where it permanently lost several thousand Oricon sales since the Bandai Visual Club store doesn't report its sales to Oricon. Of course in the scheme of things, it doesn't really matter as they still got the money in the end.

It just seems weird to me that they don't put more of an effort to quell these sort of issues if they know its going to happen. They are really limiting the sales potential by keeping things insufficiently stocked. Perhaps they are just incredibly stingy on how many copies to print? Perhaps they just cannot print fast enough. They should take lessons from King Records or something on how to keep things in stock, considering they handle the 1M+ copies AKB48 really easily, but i'm sure the incredible increase in the buying fanbase ever since the LL anime and the mobile game in 2013 was a huge shock to Lantis.

They've been doing the music for it since day 1. In fact they've done the music for pretty much every Kyoani work since Kyoani has had a long standing affiliation with Bandai Visual going back to the 80s. A lot of the casting for their shows has historically been decided by Lantis to feature their artists like Aya Hirano (back when she was with them before they dumped her post scandal which if people are wondering why her career kind of dropped off that's a big reason) Ono, Hiroshi etc. Theyre also a producer for a lot of their shows including Hibike.

In any case King Records is quiet a bit larger than Lantis the latter of which again mainly deals with anime stuff and this sudden catapult into the mainstream is something I guess they'll have to get used to. Love Live essentially went from a 4 digit franchise to 6 digits over the course of a couple years. Also they along with their parent have this tendency to be on board for randomly successful stuff like GUP, Infinite Stratos and Hibike (sort of, I mean even Pony Canyon had issues with the first disk and the OST suddenly went from low to high demand a couple weeks ago such that I figured an event ticket had been introduced).

Yep, however I'm not investing into Sunshine until I hear the music and voice acting (since I'm not familiar with any of them).

All idol music all day everyday. O_o

No Aikatsu release kind of keeps this month from being something of a rout. A veteran music producer in Japan (name escapes me) recently said something to the effect of idol groups ruining Japanese music's potential by being too dominant. I suppose on some level when you factor in the 48s it's understandable. I have a friend too who while a fan of u's also says kind of the same thing. He's been following the Japanese music scene a lot longer than I have.

I think some artists are threatened too by the rise of anime idol groups into mainstream charts of late which is also sort of understandable. When you're competing with an idealized image fronting for the voices that will never age and never look anything less than perfect it's kind of an unfair playing field.

Love Live domination.

I wonder if they plan to do an anime adaptation of the Love Live! Sunshine!! Idol in the future.

Who the hell is charge of the marketing?
Releasing alongside love live and I'm pretty sure almost no one except nana mizuki fans knew it came out yet.

As expected, but perhaps it could've done 100K+ in the 1st week had it not had any stock issues. Lantis is just horrible at keeping things in stock when it involves very high sellers. It is seriously a joke when the next LL movie single to come out tomorrow was already out of stock (only reseller stock is left), 3 days before release on Amazon JP. 3x 100K+ sellers is probably way too much for them, considering Best Live collection II (which has sold 122K+) was only released 7 weeks ago.

Well if the 3rd LL movie single has been sufficiently stocked, then we should definitely see 3 gold disc certifications (for > 100K and < 250K copies shipped) from the RIAJ for the month of July. This will add to the 5 gold disc certifications LL has, to match the 8 that K-ON! got.
