I am assuming you mean the western community? It doesn't matter what they think, as these sales are indicative of the domestic (Japanese) market only. Sales through imports from Japan, are not included in these sales figures.

The western community can "seemingly" have overwhelming hate for an anime (typically haters are the loudest after all), but it has no bearing on the sales in Japan.

Japanese fans will not suddenly be influenced by western fans, as they look at the whole picture before committing to buy an anime. Anime is afterall very expensive in Japan so they only typically buy 1 or 2 series per season, which have the whole package, and is importantly rewatchable.

You'd have to be dreaming to see SAO drop that far down from Season 1 sales. Sinon's ass had no bearing on SAO II sales. SAO II sales are more in line with how SAO Extra Edition ended up selling in the 1st week. Aldnoah Zero maybe had a chance, had sales picked up... while Akame ga Kill and Tokyo Ghoul had no chance.

Except Mahouka is one of Dengeki's biggest non-SAO, non Index property and you would think it would at least hit 15k average easily going by the past track record of Dengeki series. Quite frankly, if I am a big wig at Dengeki I would be losing sleep big time, because the Mahouka/SAO S2 sales numbers (plus rapidly declining sales of the Monogatari series) suggest that LN series no longer have the hold on otakus that they had post Haruhi and it's going to be hard for us to see a LN series draw blockbuster numbers again.

Madhouse never has huge blu-ray/DVD sales even deathnote didn't sell a huge amount of discs, Monster, Trigun, HxH, NGNL, Parasite none are as big as they should be sales wise.

So,why is it Madhouse never has huge blu-ray/dvd sale? Japanese people think their anime adaption is bad?
Parasite already release it's bluray/dvd? That was fast.

How well is Hanamonogatari sold compare to other Monogatari series? Hana is actually one of my favorite arc in the Monogatari series.

While I at it,I would like to ask. Which usually bring more money? Bluray/DVD sales or TV sponsorship/advertising?

You're still assuming your assessment of quality has any relation to how that market works. You've gotta strike while the irons hot. Pretty much all of Aniplex's hyped adaptation series have seen about a 50% initial drop between first and second seasons as the hype bubbles burst or people move on to the next big hype show. Hell Persona saw over a 100% drop between adaptations in a little over 3 years. Why do you think you have people like Hideakki Anno arguing that the current business model for late night anime isn't exactly sustainable?

I understand these "hype bubbles" and current trends you bring up often and they make a lot of sense for many franchises/shows, but is it not possible in Persona's case that the 100% drop in sales can be at least partially held against A-1 Pictures and the rather shocking effort they put in art & animation wise?

Stolen from the episode 8 thread, apparently this is supposed to be Yukiko:

I mean with the lack of effort put in, it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of people who would normally eat it up didn't even bother, but then again you have hardcore otakus who collect regardless. I wouldn't know if they really would, but I just can't see it myself.

Wow poor Yukiko. A-1's contempt for all things good and decent would appear to still be very much a thing.

Anyway it's entirely possible, the effort for that adaptation was pretty lambasted all around and A-1 has a pretty bad reputation in Japan right now for a number of reasons even if their producers themselves seem to think they're gods gift to the industry and fans. They really need to start working on getting their schedules under some degree of manageability first and foremost though before they end up the next SHAFT. They're more than big enough to handle a sizeable workload....just it's doubtful whether any animation studio can keep up a schedule of 4 new shows every season without suffering at least some setbacks. They're just kind of trying to be too aggressive with their commercial pushes of late and I can only hope it eventually starts to come back on them one way or another so they can get a reality check. Maybe start treating their animators less like indentured servants so that the suicide case just becomes an isolated incident like they seem to want to argue and they don't end up becoming the Foxconn of Japan.

You know a-1 did the animation for the actual games right?

Without them thered be no original artwork you dummy.

Errrr not sure where you get your information from but the artwork and character design is done by Shigenori Soejima who is an employee of Atlus.

I don't see why Dengeki would be getting upset about it - the light novels got a huge sales boost (which would be what Dengeki is most concerned with after all), and post-anime volumes outsell index by quite some way (volume 14 sold 193k in a little over a month, we don't have full data yet for the latest volume of index, but the one before sold 138k in 23 days). If the anime is making a profit as well then they've nothing to be concerned about.

True, Persona 4: Golden isn't that old of course but whether P4G brought substantially more teenagers to play either of the games I couldn't tell you.

I mean, I dont know that much about sales, but I at least know that not every shounen series is going to sell 30-80 thousand copies like SAO or Madoka.

This is like saying Taco Bell is a poor restaurant because its not as popular as McDonalds.
