Synopsis

"Who cares about what happened in Japan's past? It has nothing to do with my life."

With these words, carefree high school student Saburou finds himself unceremoniously thrown back in time to the Sengoku Era, landing directly in front of the legendary general Nobunaga Oda. Nobunaga, on the run from his retainers and wishing to rest due to his frailty, beseeches Saburou to take his place, as the two bear an uncanny resemblance. Although Saburou is still confused by his surroundings, Nobunaga hurriedly provides the boy with the necessary items to prove that he is the bona fide feudal lord and makes a hasty getaway.

Now a stand-in for someone he doesn't even know all that much about—though his modern experiences and knowledge are sure to help him—Saburou begins his unexpected quest to pose as the man who attempted to unite all of Japan.

As said by many already, this anime was the hidden gem of the season. While, as it seems, the art style was a big reason for many to not watch it, I found it quite fresh and that was certainly one of the biggest selling points for me. In fact, I only started watching this anime because of how the cover seemed out of place amongst so many animes looking the same.
That being enough deviation from the main subject, the take on the storytelling is brilliant - no cliches, no harems, no love triangles, it's all about Oda Nobunaga and his quest to unite all ...

Mixed Feelings
I was going to give it 8 or 9 since it's a good twist on Isekai and has good comedy. But there was no alternate history in the series and it's just a high school boy following the same path of Oda Nobunaga with some jokes added here and there.

And the jokes were reduced by the end of the season too and it instead became more dramatic telling of Sengoku period. If that was the intention of from the beginning, it would have been better to not have Isekai at all in the first place.

Honestly, the series made me so mad at seeing so much ...

Preliminary (5/10 eps)
Well, I've been holding off on watching this for awhile, since I instinctively knew this was going to be a terrible show. In fact, I held it off for at least a few years, but I finally bucked down and watched it.

Honestly, it's really bad. First of all, let's not fool ourselves with euphemisms about the animation, such as "unique." Its trashy CG that wasn't even good on release, barring talking about being compared to today's standards. Not to mention, fights are nonexistent, due to the low budget, I'd assume. Very off putting. But I was willing to give it a shot because maybe ...
