This season's looking pretty damn good. From the looks of it, I'll be picking up Akame ga Kill (hype), Aldnoah.Zero (staff hype), Tokyo Ghoul, Zankyou no Terror, and Nozaki-kun. I'm also more than likely going to pick up SAO 2, and Kuroshitsuji for the sake of series completion. I'm also undecided on Glasslip since I don't really know anything about it. |
mitch3315 said: This might be a bit hard for you to believe, I know I didn't at first, but the thing is that other people actually have different opinions to your own. Crazy, right? How dare they not conform to your opinion on this show, or any other, who the hell do they think they are? |

Thanks for the list. I was thinking of watching Bakumatsu Rock but after watching that PV...... >.> I'm gonna go for Glasslip, Tokyo Ghoul (with Pierrot doing it, I'm not hoping for much though), Aldnoah.Zero and Akame ga Kill for new ones. As for 2nd seasons, Kuroshitsuji, SAO 2 (I am really hoping GGO is better than than awful Fairy Dance arc), Space Dandy and Fate/Loli Magical Girls. |

WILL WATCH: Prisma Illya 2wei - can't wait for this. Loved this story arc in the manga and hopefully this does it justice. Going by PVs animation budget increased by quite a bit. The OP song sounds awesome too. Sword Art Online II - GGO and MR are one of my more favorite story arcs in the LNs so hopefully this adapts them correctly. Aldnoah Zero - Seems original and unique enough Tokyo Ghoul - Like the visuals, the setting is interesting and so far no real moeblob bs. Seems promising. Sailor Moon Crystal(Which for some reason is not in the list here) - AS long as it follows the manga I expect this to be freaking great, if not amongst the top of the season. MAYBE: Akame Ga Kill - heard good things about the manga, but otherwise char designs look generic and I have no idea wtf it is about. WIll give it up to 3 episodes before deciding whether its shit or not. Argevollen - not sure about this. On one hand - yay war with realistic mecha. On other hand - fanservicey, the op song is pop-y upbeat stuff and the title is cheese. |

cyclone1993 said: It was initially announced in our news for Summer 2014. However, when I looked into the entry last week, the official site only said "2014" and there hasn't been any news on their Twitter since May's birthday event. Thus, I highly suspect we won't be seeing it this season and have changed the start date to only 2014.KanColle should probably be listed under the unknowns, because as far as I know they haven't announced when it will be out yet...But it is coming this Summer supposedly... So the only shows that actually look good both have something to do with Shinichiro Watanabe, unsurprisingly. This looks like a 'break' season before the (hopefully) decent fall. edit: although Barakamon could be cool. |

High Expectations Space Dandy. First cour was funny as hell. Nuff said Zankyou no Terror. The premise sounds very intriguing and it's directed by freaking Watanabe. Do i have to say anything more? Ao Haru Ride. God, i really love this series. Romantic, heartwarming, and "thrilling". Actually handles the romantic issues in mature manner and i enjoy the chemistry between the lead duo. Being a sucker for shoujo romance, this one is must watch. Moderate Expectations Aldnoah Zero. I'm not into mecha. But it's written by Urobuchi so it's definitely worth checking out. Just hope he won't dwelve too much into philosopical debates without giving proper answers in the end much like his previous series. Tokyo Ghoul. Eh, not really sure about this. The manga started out decent but on later chapters it eventually just turns into excess of shounen action cliches. It's entertaining though, but can't expect much in terms of quality writing Kuroshitsuji Circus. Liked and enjoyed the first season, but the second season was a disappointment for being excessively fujoshi-pandering and derailing too much from manga. Really wish this one will be more faithful to the manga, since Circus arc is one of the best (and most morally conflicting) arcs on the series. Akame ga Kill. Ergh, i detest how the manga consistently gets away from adressing its main plot point by introducing more and more violent deaths. But on the brighter side, this one definitely won't be boring and can give me some good shock value. Also, Katsuyuki Konishi gets the best character of the series Psycho Pass. Meh, i've watched the entire thing. Not sure how this repeat with longer episodes and extra footages would add something of value. Glasslip. Will probably watch this for its beautiful visual alone. Mari Okada is out this time, so that's a good thing. Barakamon. The manga was really enjoyable. Sure it's not a big laugh comedy ala Danshi nichijou but at least it never fails to keep my attention. Sword Art Online 2. The first season was so bad that it's actually enjoyable. Loved the over the top villains and imouto stuff. They really gave me good laugh. GS Nozaki-kun. I found the manga just about amusing but not really funny. Still, decent romcom anime that are devoid of fanservice/harem antics are rare so it's a must try. Sailor Moon. Never liked the original much during my childhood since my attentions were drawn mostly into shonen battle such as DBZ, Yuyu Hakusho, and Saint Seiya. Still, it's a legendary franchise and definitely worth checking out. Low Expectations Tokyo ESP. Well, another action stuff that i shouldn't take seriously. I found the manga mediocre and most attempts at comedy tend to fail miserably. Don't know what to expect from this. Jinsei. One generic schoolboy in generic schoolclub meets bunch of attractive girls in the most generic ways possible. Yep, you know what you're getting into. Will try one episode or two, probably. Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance. When the synopsis tells you about the MC "accidentally" peeps on the main heroine, then you surely are in for greatness . . . . yeah, maybe. Rail Wars. No one on the staff that i find really promising. And please, just please, don't put Fukuyama Jun on teenage role ever again. The MC sounds so ludicruous that it made me shake my head. Magimoji Rurumo. Just can't believe that it's written by the same guy who writes Yowamushi Pedal. Most attempts at humor always fail. The characters are annoying as fuck, and i don't like where the story is heading into. And JC Staff has had lots of misses lately. Not sure what to expect from this. Momo Kyun Sword. Wouldn't be this negative if the main heroine wore more clothing and had moderate-sized breasts. Not that pair of watermelons. Shirogane no Ishi Argevollen. I don't know what i'm getting myself into. |

Zankyou no Terror is the most promising in my eyes, I just hope it delivers. I'm surprisingly looking forward to SAO 2 as well. It doesn't look half bad and even if it does end up sucking, I'm sure the ost alone will make it worth watching. I'll also watch Akame ga Kill which is hopefully closer to Berserk than Ubel Blatt. Space Dandy 2 will surely be as entertaining as the first season, so there's that to add to the list too. Tokyo Ghoul, Rail Wars, Aldnoah Zero, Tokyo ESP and Persona all seem interesting, but I'll probably wait for them to finish airing before actually starting them. Hanamogatari is likely to be the last I'll ever see of Araragi (I don't expect Kizu to be released within my lifetime...), so I'm planning to marathon the whole series before watching it. |
5 main aspects I base my ratings on: 1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it? 2. Is it better than Breaking Bad? 3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it? 4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL? 5. Is it actually good? Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant... |

Aldnoah Zero -- take my soul, Urobuchi, and butcher it to your heart's content, you cruel genius. I'm getting tired of mecha but I'll make an exception for this show and get lost of any prejudices I may have. If the show fails to amaze me, though, I will lose faith in humanity (again). |

* Rail Wars! - Looks like it could be something interesting. * Aldnoah.Zero - Written by Urobuchi Gen (Fate/Zero, Mahou Shoujo Madoka), music by Sawano Hiroyuki (Shingeki no Kyojin, Kill la Kill), animated by A-1 Pictures (Kuroshitsuji, Fairy Tail, Magi). * Shirogane no Ishi: Argevollen - Music by Nakagawa Kotaro (Code Geass, Inu X Boku SS, Gosick), animated by Xebec (Zombie-Loan, Mnemosyne), starring Ohsaka Ryota (Brynhildr's Murakami, Sidonia's Tanikaze) and Oohara Sayaka (Fairy Tail's Erza, Fate/Zero's Irisviel). Although I have many more shows I'm looking forward to, those are my (currently) most anticipated shows of this summer season |

Hype list: 1. Glasslip -Because P.A. Works. And Nishimura's work on True Tears was great IMO. 2. Akame ga Kill - White Fox's work on the fights in Katanagatari is enough for me to want to watch this. 3. Tokyo Ghoul - Just hoping that there's finally a really good horror anime. 4. Hanamonogatari - I enjoy Monogatari, just quit delaying it SHAFT. 5. Zankyou no Terror - Watanabe and Kanno together again and everything looks more than promising. 6. Ao Haru Ride - Drama/Romance is my cup of tea, and it's an I.G shoujo. High hopes. 7. Aldnoah.Zero -Ei Aoki + Gen Urobuchi + Hiroyuki Sawano = This better be good. 8. Rail Wars - Looks like it could be a mediocre show that is still enjoyable. 9. Jinsei and Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!? - Seem generic but I'll still watch because why not. 10. Tokyo ESP -Plot sounds interesting enough. Really disliked almost everything about SAO, but I will watch the 2nd season for the sake of completion, nothing more. Yami Shibai is horrifyingly scary. Can't wait for more. Cannot wait for Cencoroll 2. It's gonna be amazing :) |
