Short OVA 'Fate / Prototype' Released

In the third volume of Carnival Phantasm, a 12 min long anime "Fate/ Prototype", a prototype of Fate/stay night, was released as an extra. Fate/ Prototype was written by Nasu Kinoko when he was a high school student.

lol, "Deen on steroids" one made me laugh so hard

It could be ufotable, or even Lerche. If it is Deen, then I'm happy for them. Proto is alright, it could definitely pass as a spin off for me. And no wonder I was getting Sonohara Anri (DRRR!!) vibes from Ayaka - she's voice by Kana Hanazawa ^^

You can watch the preview there. Pretty interesting stuff. Very nice visuals, although they don't always look up to ufotable's regular snuff. Kinda curious to who's working on it, then. Is it Deen on steroids? Is it ufotable slacking off? Is it a third studio who wants a piece of the Type-Moon pie? Hmm.

Funny, I love most of the proto-characters and designs much more than the actual ones. Maybe FSN wouldn't have ended like a typical harem-romance-thing with superpower and female-moe-Arthur if they stayed with this.

Try again. It got drafted because, at the moment Nasu was working on it, having a female mc was less popular, so they made some changes. Now it's not.

Gilgamesh, for instance, IIRC, was dual blade wielding and the current Archer. This got recycled for the current Archer. Ayaka's personality IS like Rin and a bit like Arthuria (mix of Ice Queen and Tsundere), so I don't know if you'll miss it.

Well I do understand why they are doing this. Dancing around the FSN franchise(hopefully rebooting the whole stupid FSN anime out of existence and re-adapting the VN)

However about the prototype? no badass shirou? no rin? no saber? DO NOT WANT

There's a reason why prototype drafts got "drafted" in favor of more badass and more interesting ones that ended up being used.

Iri is the greatest wife in any anime. She will probably look at Saber only as a knight.

I don't think her gender would change Arthur's wish, you need to tweak some stuff, but you can make it work. Maybe instead of feeling 'inferior' because she was a 'girl', was because he tried to live up to the ideal and it fell apart.

Like, you know, most Arthurian legends had it. Nudge.

More Fate is welcome. Although I'm used to Saber being a cute, beautiful woman, I don't mind the male version (hence "prototype") since King Arthur IS a guy. As long as Saber is still cool, that's all that matters to me.

Being genderbent is enough for this spinoff/adaptation.

I remember reading that original Saber is supposed to have a personality similar to F/SN Archer. I'd love to see that combined with Saber's backstory. Speaking of which, I wasn't surprised when I heard Saber was originally a male. Her entire story basically revolved around her kingship and her true gender wasn't of great importance, which makes sense if her past was basically copy pasted from male Saber's.

Okay, I admit I'm totally biased for his design as well. They should have kept this design instead of the new Prototype one
