| Outside of the performances, I think this episode was pretty amusing. Not everyday you get to see two animals, especially a cat have a face off on top of a moving train. Definitely a highlight of this episode and possibly of this season. Funny stuff. |

| Very funny episode. I enjoyed this even better than the first one. Also, those performances are entertaining even though they might be a little difficult to understand. Mameda's facial expressions are adorable. :3 Mameda vs. cat was hilarious. |

| After having a brief stint with Bunko, Mameda still can't get out of the reality that tanuki aren't tricking humans anymore in a new era. Despite this, being a tanuki, she can find 1001 ways to view Bunko's Rakugo performance (which must still be said, you will feel lost even with the cultural narrative of the Rakugo). And trying to persuade Bunko to be her master is tough for Mameda, and the former is relentless in not taking up apprentices, otherwise Mameda will be dead meat. Mameda gives a go at Rakugo while Bunko is out on her performance, and her precious fan getting snatched by the old man's cat, Mameda gives chase, be it on the ground...or literally squaring off on top of a moving tram to get it back. And as someone always being on the short end of the stick, Mameda wants to accomplish something new, but her journey with Bunko will never be that easy, the life of a Rakugo-ka is always moving. Appreciate the episodic Rakugo breakdown, that actually helps in understanding the stories presented. This is pretty much needed for everyone. |

| Just saying, the same poem written by Emperor Sotuko appears in Chihayafuru as well. It is one of the poems on the karuta cards. |

| I'm digging this one - the pace is kind of playfully meditative, akin to a SOL situation, maybe just enough to think about the tale and the poetry of the performance. I like the summary at the end. Squaring off on the train was awesome. I also like the elements of the period, western modernity combining with tradiation. The animation is simple but the metropolitan cityscapes are really fun. Edit: I suppose it's also kind of cool to watch a semi-historical show that isn't straight up violent or ridiculously romantic. It's just kind of pleasant and fun. |

| Quite fun episode, I especially liked the fight against the cat to get the fan back lol, and seems like the master has finally starting accepting her, at least a little bit |

| It might be the subs being slightly different, i knew i had heard the poem before as its part of the 100 poets Swift waters parted by the jagged rocks are joined at river's end in this its Though a rock may part the swift waters, they are joined at the rivers end It was a fun enough episode with out lil Tanuki getting singed by Fox fire and fighting a cat |

| Decent episode overall, I dont really get the performances though. The face off between Mameda and the cat on top of the train was pretty funny. |

| Yeah, the rakugo performances in this are just awful and that alone makes the show basically unwatchable. I was hoping episode 1 would be a one-off in that regard and that it would improve in future episodes, but this one was perhaps even worse. Dropped. |

Not just the obvious clue is there in the OP, but in the first episode the tanuki girl called her bake-kitsune and now in the second ep. she searched for the kanji of fox in her stage name (or I should say she looked for a stage name with the fox kanji (狐) in it). |

| Very mixed feelings. Whenever Bunko wasn't on screen it felt like I was watching a children's show with a phoned-in script. I'll keep watching for Bunko, the Kansai-ben and the rakugo bits. Regarding the poem gag in the rakugo story: when you only look at the first three lines of the poem, the way it cuts off makes it interpretable as "[The stuff] from the swift-flowing, rock-dammed Takigawa river". When you repeat it out loud while walking down the street, it sounds like you're selling fish rather than reciting a poem. But I have no idea what the joke right after about the kids following him is. Anyone? ...edit: a pun between 瀬 and 背, making the first words sound like "grow up faster"? |

Where you feel like the world is against you and you have to rise up and make it big to get back at everyone who ever wronged you, and you feel like that's the only way life is bound to go otherwise there's no point in living.
