 The Seikan Kinen Zadan-kai: Gekitou wo Furikaette (Survivor Memorial Roundtable: Reliving the Fierce Battle) special program for Youjo Senki (Saga of Tanya the Evil) on AbemaTV announced a second season for the anime series on Saturday. The program also revealed a teaser visual (pictured) and announcement promo. Lead staff and cast members will reprise their roles in the new season.Youjo Senki adapts Carlo Zen's military-themed action fantasy light novel, which they originally began penning on the novel publishing website Arcadia in 2011. Kadokawa began publishing the series with illustrations by Shinobu Shinotsuki through its Enterbrain label in October 2013. The 12th volume shipped last February. Chika Toujou began drawing a manga adaptation in Monthly Comp Ace in April 2016. Kadokawa released the 21st volume on May 26. A 12-episode television anime by animation studio Nut aired in Winter 2017. Crunchyroll and Funimation streamed the show with subtitles and English dub, respectively. A sequel anime film opened in Japan in February 2019, grossing over 420 million yen (approximately US$ 3.8 million). Yen Press licensed both the light novel and manga adaptation in English in April 2017 and published the eighth light novel volume on December 22 last year and 14th manga volume on June 8. | I’ve been waiting a long time for this! Freakin’ finally. More Tanya Degurechaff badness is always welcome ~ Couldn’t watch the program live sadly but I’m hyped as heck nonetheless! On another note, only Re:Zero, Konosuba and Shinchou Yuusha only now that haven’t gotten sequels announced. Here’s to hoping they get their deserved sequel announcements soon! |

Life is so ironic. I just watched the Youjo Senki Movie for the first time not even 5 hours ago... and then I login just now to see this great news! For the longest time I put the movie off as I assumed much of the content in it would be material from s1 but boy was I wrong. Then as I got closer to the end of the movie I was getting worried thinking it would try and put a complete closer to the Youjo Senki story... but once again I was wrong.  |
