THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
It's hard to trust the adults in this show given what they're doing behind the scenes.

Compared to the previous episode, this one had much less bloodshed and it's cool to see Rika being such a good friend to Satoko. Still got to see some fun an games at school in its usual Higurashi style. The cliffhanger with Satoko and the gun though...

Neeee, Korosu wa...

Eehh ... Why is Takano like that, damn. Why is Takano apologizing? Does Takano remember that world line? Why did Takano cancel the plan to kill Rika-chama's friends, this is so strange omfg. This is why the guards are interfering or they're a police, idk. Satoshi was really sleeping, idk why. The brand of the injection is H173, what does that mean. Is that Satoko injected into Rika in the previous episode, if that's true then it's dangerous. It seems like something is bothering Onigarinoryuou, even so Rika doesn't stop thinking about it because this world will soon be reached but will tragedy happen? I still doubt whether Rika really loves Hinamizawa, but didn't Oyashiro-sama forgive Rika? If not, then Rika couldn't be in the current world line.

Seeing Rika and Satoko talking like this is enough to make me relax after seeing that incident. Seeing them doing club activities also makes me relax, Rika-chama is the master of casino. Ahh I see, is written on every memo is to help make a birthday party for Satoko? Present from Keiichi is Vegetables books. Present from Rena is a egg-san. Present from Mion is ticket. Present from Rika is a doll / bear.

I thought it would have a happy ending, but it's weird when everyone knows the tragedy from a different timeline. It's just that Satoko is the antagonist here, what is Onigarinoryuou.

Next Go kowashi-hen

I was right. I'll be taking my victory lap now.
Satoko wasn't L5 last episode.
@ssjokg Get absolutely destroyed.

With next arc called Village-Destroying Chapter, the next arc is going to be extremely fun.

Additionally, the album cover art for the new ED is pretty spicy.

Wtf was this episode. I’m shocked lol. So Satoko is being controlled from behind the scenes and has knowledge of prior loops, how and why? I always had my suspicions about her. She was made out to be the weakest one but I knew she was hiding something.

Takano’s apology was an interesting addition.

I know a lot of people aren’t feeling Gou, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it, more than the OG tbh. I’m looking forward to where this goes

Not exactly shocking since Satoko has been sus as hell pretty much the entire series, but... I'm very much jonesing to find out exactly what the deal is with her.

If they really are tying into Umineko then it's pretty obvious but if they're not then I'm stumped, ladies.

A recap of the previous arcs would be pretty useful. It seems like things are starting to finally escalate, but I'm so out of the loop I hardly get what's going on. I don't honestly know if I can even call what I'm doing watching...

Things got more intense when Satoko having memories from other worlds. Maybe the interferences from outsiders. The Satokowashi-hen would be very interesting.

The other arcs really don't matter tbh. Nekodamashi-hen is where the actual plot of Higurashi Gou started.

Anyway, isn't it kind of weird how quickly Rika forgave Takano? Didn't she literally cut her mom's head open and dissected her brain alive?

So Takano is remembering what she did in Minagoroshi through all these arcs? Rika doesn't even remember Minagoroshi lmao. I thought Nomura was bailing, but Takano was bailing instead. What interested me was already revealed, about what happened in Tokyo.

And some people were saying we were still on the question arcs lol. The answer arcs also end up badly. Ngl, Rika was pretty clever this time. She was sus, but needed evidence that Satoko was looping. Now all that is needed is restrain her and hammer down that shard on her neck. They both have weak bodies, but Satoko is at advantage though. I really hope that what happened in St. Lucia is shown at any part of the last arc.

Honestly, they should have let Satoko be dissected at the second year.

Finally a break of Rika's suffering this episode. A much needed one.
I like that Takano goes her way to apologies there, even tho Rika remembered nothing about those.
A breather episode with some Rika and Satoko bonding, feels great. Happy Birthday Satoko. But your eyes looks kinda red did you forgot your eyesdrop? Also is that a confetti gun you got there? :pepehide:

Some Umineko hints, would love to see more Umineko stuffs mixed in, since I liked Umineko just as much.

Nice play showing the final of some other arc I don't remeber at the beggining, stayed the whole episode thinking somehow Takano would turn back as a vilain but then Satoko's thing happened lol

So as a lot of people and myself said, the chances of all that "Rika have to stay in the village" being true were low, since there are a lot of episodes till the show ends, and that sort of morale would be total trash. And right on mark, everything now points that last episode's Satoko was not being a L5, but just acting to enter Rika's mind, as many suspected, points to you guys who never considered the chance of all that Satoko's talk being true.

Btw, I missed something or Satoko just took a gun out of nowhere? lol I don't really care and it wouldn't ruin the show for me, just thought it was funny

Takano doesn't remember Minagoroshi, she just decided to drop all her plans and come clean. The scene at the beginning was more for the audience's benefit. It's really convenient, but we know that Satoko/whoever the fuck is controlling the loops is purposely making the story as convenient for Rika as possible.

So that was a fucking lie.

Other than that, for an old fan, amazing episode. I loved that twist and how, to the very end, you can feel that something is wrong with Satoko, but you can't really be sure until Rika got that box out and Rika reacted to it the way she did.

Imagine misunderstand Higurashi so much that you think Rika being tortured for 5 episodes is " LITERALLY the best arc in Higurashi".

Who is your favorite killer loli? Is is Satok? I personally like Shion.

This second cour of higurashi is really stepping the game up. It hasn’t disappointed me in the slightest in the last 4/5 episodes or so.

I kinda saw the twist coming at the end. It was pretty obvious Satoko was faking L5 last episode, since she didn’t have the cat eyes.
The gun at the end tho lmao completely random

"You don't get it!" "Five episodes of Rika being tortured is pure kino!!"
I guess Gou is the filter for Higurashi fans who like the writing and the others who just enjoy watching loli torture porn.

Anyway, this was a decent introduction to the next mystery. I'm still floored that Rika's only takeaway from the last arc was "I love Hinamizawa," then we jumped right into the next plot. I'm glad she's smart enough to realize this timeline isn't quite right for a few reasons. Satoko retained her memories but only seemed to awaken once Rika tested her. I have no idea where Rika got the idea that Satoko was being possed, but at least new things are happening.

Looks like Satoko is
I see...

Well I did predict that Takano wasn't the mastermind this time around, but Satoko being the culprit would be too obvious. In fact, I still don't think that she is the culprit. After all, we still haven't even gotten to the answer arcs yet. Not only that, but the fact that she is looping and rolling the dice means that she is the victim here. The mastermind still hasn't been caught. He/She is still out there.

I think I get why Takano isn't the mastermind anymore. As I said in the previous thread, it's strongly hinted that Rika is no longer the host. That also means that Takano cannot execute Emergency Manual 34, which means that she has no reason to stay in Hinamizawa anymore.

LOL Satako pulled out that gun out of nowhere. The directing still hasn't improved one bit I see.

Well, it looks like we are finally getting somewhere. This was definitely one of the better episodes thus far.

Calling it right now but they are going to keep the bullshit message that Rika "abandoning" the shitty village that she suffered for a century in and actually wanting to start a new life is bad and that's why she deserves to be sent back. Rika is going to shank Satoko with the magic sword at the end and Rika forgives her for randomly sending her back to her endless torture. Rika wakes up in high school or something and goes back to Hinamizawa because fuck letting Rika start a new life.

Imagine ignoring every discussion ever had in the previous episodes just to make a victory lap after nobody won anything.....Only Takano was explained and in the end it amounts to nothing regarding Rika's or Satoko's situation in Gou.

I guess Satoko isnt just a L5/insane looper but also a magician.....If that's Satoko at all. Where the hell was that gun hidden?

If anyone has to celebrate is me because I was the one saying that Satoko was faking it in Tataridamashi. But noooo, R07 would never do that....

Also RIP again newcomers who have no idea what happened in 80% of this episode and got spoiled even more arcs of the OG.

At least it was better than the last two episodes. That isnt hard tho.
