Years later, following orders from the Emperor, Iwakasa and his men were to dispose of the Hourai Elixir by flinging it into the mouth of Mount Fuji. However, while being followed by Fujiwara no Mokou, Sakuya appeared before Iwakasa, and warned them not to do so, for it would cause Fuji to become active again. They spent the night on the mountain, but Sakuya awoke Mokou and Iwakasa and claimed that the men had started killing each other over the elixir, although Mokou speculated to Keine that she thought Sakuya had killed them herself. Sakuya directed them toward Iwanaga on Yatsugatake, which was more equipped to deal with the Hourai Elixir, but with Sakuya's words ringing in her head, Mokou robbed and supposedly killed Iwakasa halfway down Fuji. mfw i really need to read the official touhou mangos |

| The ten anime for life topic got locked before I submitted my post, so I'll just dump it here because why not. TripleSRank said: This is probably a lot looser than the OP intended, but if you could allocate entire franchises to yourself the question becomes a lot clearer since you could pick some rather big ones, as well as ones that are likely going to produce content for a long time yet. One Piece, Gundam, and Precure are the three I'd definitely pick in that regard. From there I guess I'd just make sure I see certain anime I consider important that I haven't seen yet. NGE, Utena, Major, FMAB, Gintama, LotGH, and... eeeh, Nodame Cantabile I guess-- torn between that and Maison Ikkoku for the last pick tbh. That would obviously still leave me with a ton of content I want to see that I couldn't watch, but I'd still get to see those and have plenty of ongoing content for years to come. |

| Precure's relatively poor track record with the side movies continues. The Fresh movie was roughly on par with Heartcatch's movie, but for different reasons. The Heartcatch movie had some decent lore and background additions to the main story, but was way more boring than it ought to have been. The Fresh movie, on the other hand, had an overall much more contrived and eye-roll inducing story, yet still managed to pull off a few decently entertaining confrontations and interactions. Ah well. At least it wasn't the disaster that was the Go! Princess movie. |
| Smile Precure keeps delivering on its promise to make its viewers ultra happy, especially with its 17th episode; haven't laughed that hard since Osomatsu-san. EDIT: And episode 18 just had to come around and break my heart. Never thought I would get teary-eyed over a freaking relay race of all things. |

| Wow. The lead-in to Fresh's final arc was stronger than I was expecting it to be. It managed to leverage all the time spent fleshing out the extended cast really well. The extended casts were probably the weakest part in both Heartcatch's and Go! Princess's final arcs-- mostly because they were nearly a nonfactor in the former (Heartcatch barely has an extended cast at all tbh) and because they became somewhat forgivably hammy in the latter. The approach Fresh has taken makes for a nice change of pace, feels a lot more genuinely touching, and is overall quite fitting given Fresh's more character-focused nature. Although both Heartcatch's and Go! Princess's endings are tough acts to follow, this development/lead-in gives me hope that Fresh's ending may be able to stand up to them well on its own merits. In fact, I'll take it even further and say Fresh has pulled off what it did in that lead-in even better than Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura(!). That is not a small feat. Edit: I can hardly believe that took me as off-guard as it did when in hindsight the show has clearly been thematically building up to this point from the beginning. |
