sexual related hijinks or outright sexual deviancy are generally a sign that someone's not a very good person, if you know what i mean. of course, there's a difference between implications that someone is a serial rapist, versus being a garden variety pervert, but the latter in a lot of peoples eyes always has potential to become the former. obviously i dont approve of deviancy but i do find deviant characters in some aspects to be pretty damn fascinating, even if they don't get their own arc or development.... i just like psychology. and i like some typical more normie perverts as well. all the same i kind of get the thinking of people who do not, not that i understand it on a personal level, but i wouldn't say i agree 100% with their moralistic ideals at all. a lot of people just hate perverts for being perverts even with an explanation to back it and kind of disregard any potentially interesting traits, or plot developments that some of these characters may have, or a past they may've buried. i'm not a prude, never been a prude, always been kind of weirdly fascinated by "trash" guys since i started watching anime, so i dunno exactly why there's a lot of overly PC people today particularly teens who think sex is repulsive for some reason, perhaps its the faultiness of the shifty education system and its wavering opinions on whether sex is a sin or acceptable to teach kids about, either way, i see no problem with anime having some degree of sexual mention as long as its not overbearingly awful and flaunting such sexuality in the viewers face with complete disregard for some level of tact... i.e. most generic ecchi harems, though to be fair, reverse harems in the vein of dialovers are just as shitty if not worse. yeah personally i just dont like dxd because its a sore of a thing to watch in general, don't judge me, i don't think those girls are hot at all, i find their bodies to be way too disproportionate and distorted looking for it, nor that the show is that great, that's why i dropped it. arguably over fifty percent of my droplist probably consists of similar generic ecchi harems, i don't think they are done very well nor can i necessarily get off on seeing women with G cup breasts pasted on stick model bodies.... |

Like... they're just popular with girls because they're decent people, and while they get embarassed they're not the stuttering dunces of the amaenadeyo and chobits era protagonist. Pervert protagonists are absolutely annoying. They're usually hated by the girls around them except for when they do one good thing and it's like "oh he's got one good side to him after all." It's so annoying because I want to like them, but the way they act and their motives just make me hate them. The word pervert does have a negative connotation for a reason. |

Because they creep me out. I wouldn't want to deal with them in real life so why would I want to watch them in anime? I don't mind characters occasionally having sexual thoughts, flirting with consenting adult characters or actually having a sexual relationship with someone, I just don't want to watch characters act like horny 14 year-olds. Especially over underage characters. |

They're cringeworthy, drooling idiots. What makes it even worse is a lot of them don't even go through with it when they get a chance. They'll openly drool over some tits like a baby, then run away when someone actually shows an interest in them. The better MC's are the exact opposite. They show some tact and common sense in public, but aren't afraid when it comes down to it. Obsessed with sex yet afraid of the act itself - retarded. Fine with sex but it doesn't define you, and you don't make a big deal of it in day to day life - healthy and normal. |

I would rather dislike having to deal with someone who is only ogling me all the time and only has sex in their mind so I naturally feel that those type of character archetypes are not appealing to me. Do far the only exception was Sakurai Tomoki from Sora no Otoshimono which took the perverted character trope and turned it up to eleven. It created some absolutely bizarre and hilarious moments in the show. |

Having a perverted MC tends to fill the anime with a bunch of fan service and, as a result, may impair the plot or the pacing of the anime by allotting time for stimulating scenes and its corresponding aroused reaction. However, it might not be that bad if ecchi stuffs are used moderately or forms a big part of the comedy skit |

Ehh...because he could have a lot better things to think about when he is talking to a woman or addressing her than her body. Like honestly, people like that IRL are jerks you wouldn't want to have a conversation with so watching them for an entire series is literally torture. You can be a decent person and still be perverted in some sense, but in general decent people don't legit stare at your breasts for an entire conversation and catch shots of panties. Honestly I would not like to associate myself with anyone like that. It's funny at some parts depending on the show (like if it's strictly comedy), but honestly if it's overused it's no longer about how much I hate the main character. It just straight out makes me feel uncomfortable because that entire show is primarily fanservice. Which are shows I do not enjoy watching in general. |

She's the strongest explosion magic user etc. Well, the way I see it in the anime (and I just re-watched the scene to be sure), what won over Megumin's fear isn't her desire for glory, but her desire to help the other girl. Of course, you can't face one of humanity's greatest enemies without being cool. Death Knight was pretty good at it too. Also, the castle was populated by monsters and undead, so it counts as "ruins" even if the walls still stand. Melkaticox said: -Most of the good things they do are done for their own benefit. That's how it should be. It's the world where you have to save the day for free and hide from the police afterwards that is screwed-up. I still think the reward for slaying the Death Knight was too little, given it wasn't enough to rebuild the city afterwards. The economy must be pretty bad with all the fighting going on. If they wouldn't improve, all those "no character development!" people will come crying. Also, Haganai's cast had 2 seasons of improving, and they'd need another one to get to the end of the story. That's enough, no need for super-long shows like One Piece. lifeless069 said: Having a perverted MC tends to fill the anime with a bunch of fan service and, as a result, may impair the plot or the pacing of the anime by allotting time for stimulating scenes and its corresponding aroused reaction. However, it might not be that bad if ecchi stuffs are used moderately or forms a big part of the comedy skit You've got your thinking backwards. It's the anime that is filled with fanservice that can get a pervert protagonist, not the other way around. |

Mhhhh... reminds me of those other Ecchi threads that says. why other user dislike Ecchi or fan service? Mhhh... Mods should have at least put a restriction in this kinds of thread, makes other's head burst, and this sometimes can be annoying... Though, I don't know how mods can put this kind of thread a restriction, but it seems a lot of work so they just leave it like this. If any of you guys dislike Ecchi that much, or dislike the fact that the plot is cliche, you know what happens even if you're asleep, just watch Hentai... If that doesn't work... ask Google. |

I don't like slutty characters because that's uncivilized. Maybe people think it's normal in other cultures, but not in America |

Have you seen Hagure Yuusha no Aesthetica? That MC is a pervert. I don't like if the MC is very innocent, that's annoying, but it also becomes kind of annoying when the MC it's too perverted. there has to be a balance. |

Well, MAL anime discussion is pretty much the best place for such discussions. The problem is, they sometimes get repetitive. But pervert protagonists are different from ecchi in general. For example, I like ecchi, but don't like pervert protagonists. (you can read my reasons earlier in this thread) |

For example, I like ecchi, but don't like pervert protagonists. (you can read my reasons earlier in this thread) I get what you mean and I know the differences between plot development and characterization. But sometime, and even me, I assume that if the genre is Ecchi, the protagonist is pervert or something along the line. Sora Otoshimono for instance... What I'm saying is that, why not go to the extreme, if you hate something like fan service/Ecchi/male protagonist that is perverted. I do agree that sometimes lurking in MAL discussions is fun, but seeing the same old thread is tiring. |

Also, Darkness makes it cool. People who take what they like and make it their job are great. Melkaticox said: -Megumin being chuuni is not the point, is her trying to remain hidden until she thought people were accusing the other girl of being powerful enough to destroy a castle multiple times (the castle wasn't even delapidated, it looked perfectly fine before she practiced on it, so it's not "some ruins"). I honestly don't feel like your comment provides much, it reads more like you're trying to excuse their bad behavior even though you apparently don't want them to be bad? Also what do you care if "no character development!!"-friends come. It's a comedy, fuck 'em. Are you really gonna include that's probablly gonna make the series worse just because you don't want to deal with a bunch of annoying people? |
