THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
All that teamwork is great. Sasaki giving the name of Nobume to Mukuro, lying that he made it up right now, the feels! Kondo’s got Sasaki’s back!

The talk between Kondo and Sasaki was really good. Those two working together would be such a great team up. Sasaki’s such a great person :’). Everyone’s just barely standing. Everyone’s shocked reaction at Sasaki being cut and Kondo being dead was intense as hell O_O. Talk about a WTF moment! Sorachi can’t kill his own species, it’s illegal.

Oh god, the feel! That f*cking Oboro! All that screaming! The Shinsengumi and Mimawarigumi team up! Hijikata vs. Oboro! Kondo took that damn pill! I love how a gag just turned into a lifesaver! Nice way of faking his death here. Konod looks like a f*cking badass!

That double hit Oboro got from Hijikata and Kondo! There goes an arm! Time to go back to Edo. That’s one heck of a plan Sasaki made. More damn explosions! Sasaki is really not in good shape.

Poor Nobume ;_;. Sasaki knows about the truth, that Nobume wasn’t the one who killed his family but rather tried to protect them. Aww, Nobume wants to stay by Sasaki’s side ;_;. Those flashbacks of Sasaki choosing a name used while he’s being escorted in the present time was really well done. No, Sasaki sacrificed his life to keep Nobume and his brother. Sasaki falling and his thoughts are too sad for me. “My email has finally been delivered” T_T. Nobume’s face </3

Four and a half chapters adapted this time. Last episode of Gintama° and the FS arc next week! Probably this episode was the saddest episode of Gintama to date. The feels were too strong with Sasaki’s death. The music was so spot on, and a good amount of time was dedicated to Nobume and Sasaki's conversation.

How was the animation this episode? Last week was pretty good, so i hope it was alright this week too (especially the letter scene, because it's my favourite Gintama scene of all time).

Near the beginning it was a little weak (for a minute or two), but during the important parts, it was fantastic. The death scene was perfectly animated.

ISABURO NOOOO!!!!

WOW that was an emotional episode.
Kondo getting that slash across his face.
Awesome teamwork by both Hijikata & Kondo with that double slash to take down Oboro.

Gintoki saying- "Fight Shinsengumi" Loved that part.

So Nobume didn't kill Sasaki's wife and child.
Nice to know the meaning behind Nobume's name.

Final episode next week. Cannot believe its all coming to an end. This is going to be sad.

Real duds cried when Oboro got cut, not on that petty child naming shit Sasaki is talking about.

Now the real question is will he stay dead, or come back yet again to hunt Gintoki and co?

Next week final salute to the chief of Police. /Salute

Holy shit this episode emotionally wrecked me! Dem feels with that final moments were emotional af!

Seeing Kondo and Isaburo on the ground like that gave me a heart attack! Glad Kondo at least made it out alive. Don't know what I would've done if he had died.

Seeing Gintoki motivate the Shinsengumi was badass! Massive respect!

So happy seeing Oburo getting destroyed! Fuck yes!

This was hilarious!

All aboard the feels train!
The teamwork between everyone was good.
Gintoki telling the Shinsengumi to fight along with the comparison to Kondo was gold!
Oboro got rekt, hopefully he stays down but I think he won't.
Sasaki's death scene hit me in the feels, however, the main gut punch of feels is knowing that this season is ending next week. :(

Isaburo's death scene was really well done imo. The way they handled the texts scene with his wife was amazing and that last name suggestion simply.... lmao

One cannot contain such amount of feels and be fine with it

So sad next week is the last episode we'll see, probably until manga reaches the end

Dear god, they adapted this way better than I had suspected, and it actually happened, I cried by tears out(sniff)

The animation was overhelmed great at almost all times and the last 6 minutes were so overhelmed emotional sniff Rest in peace anime version of Sasaki Isaburo....

Plus many respects to Gintoki and Nobume"s seyuess who shined like total crystal with all of their lines xd

This is now without doubt one of my favourite ep in the entire series, period xd And by now I can already kind of predict that they will do a great work with the last ep next week as well. Dear studio with issues thank you very much for not fucking up one of my favourite moments in the entire series xd

I was crying so much when I thought Kondo was dead, that scene with Kondo's face showing on Gintoki's was brilliant.
The entire episode was brilliant actually, the death scene was extremely sad but done extremely well and it was nice to know that Nobume wasn't responsible for the massacre.
The animation and the music were great.
Second saddest episode so far, behind 305, glad there was still a tiny bit of comedy (Let's just go with "Vag***.").
Next episode will be sad too, it looks like a happy ending judging by the preview (which I should've skipped) but it will be sad that the season is ending.

P.S.
Fuck Oboro and Utsuro.

They executed everything way better than the manga! that Gintoki scream then shinsengumi seeing Kondou san in him was solid af!
the emotional part at the last was something else, they really pulled their A-Game for this episode! next one (last) preview looks just as good! well I guess this is it.

F***!!! I'm crying like a little bitch right now ;_;

That was too beautiful. Too sad. Too much. I haven't read the manga but it was obvious Sasaki was most likely gonna die and this ep seemed like the perfect place for him to. So I prepared my body but that didn't do shit. Still got emotionally REKT

The flashback with Nobume's name and how Sasaki always believed deep inside that she didn't kill his family but rather tried to protect them and him saying "I'm glad that I always trusted u" while falling after pushing her to safety were just perfection.

Don't get me started on the art this ep. So detailed depicting the emotions so well. Took so many screenshots.

Utsuro looked Savage af and Nobume looked so beautiful.

Tell me Oboro's dead lol

RIP Isaburo ;A; You raised a great child indeed. The moment of his death
was actually really well done, ahh what to do with these emotions!

Animation was amazing during the important and emotionally charged moments~

The scene I was looking forward to the most was Gintoki encouraging the Shinsengumi to keep fighting, that scene was beautiful - Fantastic work Sugita! It was made just as impactful as in the manga! Good on you studio.

Sasaburo + Kondo's last alliance was really intelligent on their part and I'm so glad that at least before Sasaki's death that they were able to in a way, bond and experience that kind of camaraderie.

Oh gosh that moment when Nobume reached out to Sasaki while crying and being held back by Kagura and Tetsunosuke made me cry inevitable tears.

This episode was just an attack on my feelings, but the kind I enjoy immensely. Knowing that the series will end soon is so depressing but this just means more marathons of Gintama at 3am whilst crying. Gintama has had a fantastic run this past year and I'm so happy that majority of the manga was executed well.

Highlight of the episode had to be: "Let's call her vagina then".
Anyways, enjoyable but yet again I feel slightly disappointed by the turn of events because Nobume not being the one to kill Isaburo's family feels too much of a cop-out. I was also hoping so see more of Hijikata going all demon chief on Oboro, but Kondo's revival was cool I guess.
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

That letter scene was insanely good even though I spoiled it for myself that Isaburo was gonna die.

I don't know if it's the improvement in art/animation but I feel this arc just surpasses the SA arc for me. Only episodes 301, 305 and 306 were overwhelming from that arc, otherwise I think this arc is better overall. Though the highs in that arc were higher than the highs in this arc even though this arc had some astonishing and over the top peaks.

10/5 episode.

I cried at the end. This episode was the reason why I love Nobume and Sabu-chan so much. They are well developed with a tragic end to their story. He was able to finally have a daughter of his own and he named her Nobume. In the manga Sasaki died around Father's Day. He truly is a dad. I've never really like Hirano Aya but when it comes to Nobume's voice acting, it really pact with emotions. Next week is a farewell to the Shinsengumi and a farewell to this anime.

Yay, great episode. One of my issues with this arc so far has been the focus on Sasaki-Nobume; not anything specially wrong with that, just that they are not exactly the most thoroughly explored characters through the series and I found this almost exclusive focus kind of sudden, seeing that we had lots of factors (Yorozuya, Shinsengumi, Katsura) I've grown a deeper liking for.

However this episode delivered. It got me attached to both Nobume and Sasaki, and was just incredibly well made in its climax. Heck, it is the first time I've been this close to liking and becoming fond of Sasaki's running gag, it was quite finely subverted for drama here. Also, the little instance with Kondo got me, and the comeback of that weird seed thing was a nice and clever move.

Not too fond of Sougo this arc, though. The guy looks like he's trying to force the shipping every time. I need some of his sadism back to confirm that he's still the same character as always xD

It is widely said that Gintama never entered full comedy after the SA arc in the manga and that's why SA arc was also referred to as the point of no return.

Expect one more run of Gintama which will pull curtain to one of the greatest anime ever that will most likely end with the manga. :')
