THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Things that are, and things that cannot be, call out, and blend together. They become a Mononoke. To cut, to stab, to gouge, to carve, are the duties of the sword (Medicine Seller's).

This is shaping up to be a great arc. There are lots of characters so untangling the Mononoke's Truth and Regret is taking quite a while.

It's interesting to note that by their inaction, the characters somehow were 'accomplices' to the reporter's death, however fleeting their acquaintance with the latter is.

Note: I thought I'd make an episode discussion for Episode 11 since it's the only episode without one. ^^"

Great episode, and yea I'd have to agree that it's an interesting take on how you'd expect them all to having nothing to do with Setsuko's death, but in actuality it was their indifference towards it that was the cause for all this.

Each arc has been so unique, so much so that this felt like a detective series for a moment. Love it!!!

I'm surprised the Medicine Seller didn't use any o-fuda (paper charms) when the bakeneko attacked in this episode, he was using loads of them Ayakashi.

Pretty cool stuff, I love the unique spin on the detective story kind of thing.

I'm loving the detective feel of this arc! Anyone who has ever seen Alfred Hitchcock's movie "The Lady Vanishes" will definitely notice the similarity in the way the story is directed and the feeling of suspense it leaves with all the mysterious characters and what not, although Mononoke is supernatural oriented.

On to the last one.

Very interesting to see all the bits of the various passengers' stories start to come together. Unlike Ayakashi, it does not sound like anyone is entirely blameless this time around. Anyway, I can't believe there is just one more episode left but I anticipate a nice finale.

wonder if the head reporter didn't just passively ignore the reporter, but was doing it actively cause he was bribed

dunno, it feels so misplaced seeing this arc played in an almost modern setting, i can't feel the atmosphere as good as the previous arcs

Pretty good episode especially the ending. Time to put an end to it alright. Seems like the train and the passengers connected well through seemingly being acquittances that spells out that anticipation like feeling.

The connection between where each passenger scratch themselves and their relation to Setsuko's death made the revelation of their role better.

I am sad there is only one episode left. ://

The Mayor who was indirectly responsible for all this, the incompetence of a detective who gave the wrong verdict, the eyes that were blind in front of the incident, the body that pushed away the truth, the ears that fell deaf on the impending testimony for sexual pleasures, the lips that dodged the questions in order to be more famous, and the legs that kept going after a life has been taken under the tracks... Each individual in the train were actually at fault by not doing anything about the case despite having the chance to and suffered the consequences.

That Ghost Cat and the girl it shared its grudge with are truly terrifying. I wonder why the reporter came back into the train.

I love this arc! I like how everyone had a puzzle piece and the medicine seller is putting it all together. This arc proves that silence can kill someone.

Jesus, the anxiety, the anguish of people scratching themselves, it was unbearable. The tension progressively building up during this episode was seriously sickening.

Pieces coming together to solve the mystery, how every and each of the people aboard the train had, implicitly, something to do with that woman's death, it's truly fascinating.

Holy crap.. the tension, the build up, the anxiety.. just friggin brilliant. So much for getting any studying done tonight! Need to watch the final episode. Also, anybody else feel bad for Kobayashi, the kid that looks 50 years old? The voice actress that played him did an excellent job.

I love the series but this episode wasn't that great.
Too much confusion and unnecessary distracting shots.
I didn't feel that way in any episode Tbh but this episode felt like trying too hard to be disturbing and mysterious.
It was okay after all but I still consider the first 2 arcs to be the best.

All the itching in this episode made my skin crawl if that makes any sense. I think “Ayakashi: Japanese Classic Horror” did the “Bake-Neko” story the best.

So they were indirectly involved in the case of the supposed suicide of the reporter and their lies inadvertently impeded the investigation itself or their ignorance in itself was a act which impeded the investigation..

Reminds me of "Then there were none"

Interested to see how this is gonna end..

People in this thread keep bringing "And Then There Were None" which is actually a better comparison than "Murder on the Orient Express", which is were my mind went.

Pretty great episode. Can't wait to see how it all wraps up.

They all hid the truth about their involvement in the murder of Ichikawa Setsuko and thus they all paid the price of being scratched to death. Would they be alive if they blurted out the truth sooner though? This is the only episode that was a little disturbing for me(the eye sratching part).

Upon rewatching, I just realized why they all got so itchy in those specific spots.

The little boy was scratching his eyes because he saw the woman die but was too scared to say anything.

The woman (Haru?) scratches her ears because she overheard the argument the victim had with her boss but denied knowing anything.

The train driver scratches his legs because he was driving the train that killed her (train=movement=legs I guess).

The reporter is scratching his arms and neck because

The braids girl obviously scratches her mouth because of the lies she told.
