Their meeting reminded me of my own meetings. xd
We always do things which aren't related with the main thought of the meeting LOL.

Nice episode. I like Houtarou's view.

Can someone tell me WHEN did Mayaka join the classics club? I've seen through all 4 episodes and nowhere does it show us the application Mayaka apparently must have made to join the club..

I know the show stated she has a crush on Satoshi and she probably joined the classics club to spend more time with him but still ... randomly she's just a member of the club - Period

Did I miss something?? I'm not complaining ... just curious <.<'

Hyouka keeps me intrigued every single week.

As we could tell after last week's episode's ending, the following would focus on the mystery that is Eru's uncle. And that was the case. They had an interesting meeting which not only provided us valuable information about the long forgotten story but also caused character development for a few characters. To phrase it better -- the topic of the "rosy" school life was brought up again and it was used to show us the differences between Houtarou and Satoshi's point of views or lifestyles. The part where Satoshi mentioned that if he actually were mocking Houtarou he'd call him colourless rather than 'gray', definitely got me. An unexpected statement coming from the usually so innocent looking member of the sewing club.
During mentioned meeting all the different theories and hypotheses were presented but coming to a satisfying conclusion was the problem at hand. Who could solve it if not Houtarou? Well, it took him the sight of Eru's room and efforts to realize that he had to do something and then- being shown in a beautiful way- he did use his brain and took care of the mysterious events.

As I mentioned above, the way the different thought processes are presented looks amazing. It may be called simple or boring by others but I greatly enjoyed it. Truth be told, sometimes I even had to stop the video not to miss anything on the screen. Like I said in earlier reviews- Hyouka keeps me at the edge of my seat. 5/5

The preview for next week was surprising in a way. I mean it was clear that Houtarou didn't solve the whole problem yet- why would it happen so early anyway?- but I didn't expect the next episode to focus on it again and rather switch to some other case. I'm not complaining, by the way, so I'm really looking forward to finding out what's going to happen next.

I like how the guys dress accordingly to their personality. Flamboyant Satoshi with bright neon colors and Your Dullness(lol) with neutral shades.

So far so good. I hope they keep up this momentum.

Haha, I see a lot of people assuming that Oreki either solved the mystery or believes he solved it. In my opinion, I have a feeling that he just came up with the conclusion on the spot so as to have something to actually present, and doesn't actually believe in his own hypothesis.

Looks like there's a bit of dialogue between Oreki and Satoshi next episode, and seeing how they're on their bikes, my guess is that it takes place partially on their way home after the meeting. Topic of the discussion? Holes in the theory Oreki presented that Satoshi simply decided not to point out. Just a guess, seeing how Satoshi is smarter than he lets on.

Up until before I was mostly watching the show for the character interaction, unsure what to think of its plot, but the last episodes are starting to pick up on it. Still not really sure what to think of it all, though I have absolutely no problem watching it all ^^

I am really enjoying this show. Each episode reminds me somewhat of the Hardy Boys mystery stories I read as a child.

The only thing that does bug me sometimes is the over-use of shiny effects!

While I realise that in the graphics arms-race you have to look better than the last guy, however, the op especially puts the BBC news graphics department to shame with their visual screaming of 'Look, we got a brand new shiny computer with a dreadnought sized graphics card'

Still, that's a rather petty niggling. The meat and bones of the show is interesting. Im curious to watch more.

Wait why would protesting a simple rule change get him expelled? I think they are missing a giant part of the story here and I don't see how they can all say that it is settled. I think they need to figure out what he did exactly to get expelled rather than just saying "well he protested a rule and got expelled". Also, if he won the fight wouldn't he have been able to nullify his expulsion due to the fact that the principle conceded to him? What made the principle say alright we'll keep the 5 days, but you are expelled?

EDIT: sorry for the typos, I was a bit tired.

He's probably not completely right, since Chitanda still doesn't know why she cried and because the anime would be done with 4 episodes otherwise.

Yeah. Apparently, intelligent anime sucks ass. All we REALLY want is the fluffy cutesy bullshit that gets released EVERY season.

Bleh.

Anyway, nice visuals. I was going to drop this show but a friend convinced me to watch on.

I also kind of hope they pull off the "slowly building up the mystery" thing they have going on. That kind of storytelling usually ends up overdone and tiring to keep up with if not executed properly.

Hotarou's voice calms me but Chitanda's annoys me to no end.

I like how he took something from everyone and made his summary in that little time. And I loved Chitanda's house and Hotarou's face when he accidentaly entered Chitanda's room heh.

This episode seemed alot like a meeting with my writing professor over an argumentative essay I have written with they way the questioned the logic in an orderly fashion... Bleh. Going to guess that wasn't what happened although who knows, maybe they are gonna get blind sided by the school after posting this for exposing something they shouldn't have.

There surely are a lot of analysis in this chapter, but it seems like the mystery is not as simple as that... I really like the animation that goes along as they tell their theories!

I really enjoyed this episode, glad I took some time to watch more of the series today!

The logic is actually logical and the special abilities of the characters don't depend on magic, everything is within the realm of normal human beings, so this reminds me a bit of Monk (US TV series)... well, anyhow, looking forwards to watching more episodes, when I make time for it.

I thought it went well. As I understand it, this is a show about four kids becoming friends and solving a mystery. They're nibbling around the edges regarding the core, what Eru forgot regarding what her Uncle told her. I'm fine with the pace and development so far.

A lot of dialogue.
Most of it I didn't find interesting, was having trouble caring about all the talk about what happened to her uncle 45 years ago.
I'd find something more relevant to the 4 more interesting. Also would like to see more character building, them talking to each other about more personal matters.

Episode One bit pretentious, when it relates to the timing dedicated in solving the case, they were a little too dilated time, but the episode due to the different context and technical perfection is pleasant. Too bad discover that the links between the actors seem to have already been decided.

"Urushibara Ruka. The mannerisms and voice of a woman... No... More feminine than any woman. But he's a guy. Taller than Mayuri, but so very thin... But he's a guy. Looks great in a miko outfit... Damn, Oreki's explanation just made my brain hurt, a freaking genius if you ask me. He some up other people's theory into his own words and still got it. This guy is something probably my favorite character of all time. At least we get some explanation on Chitanda's uncle for his motivation. Still cute when demanding Oreki an answer XD.

Oreki's theory is very plausible. Except I have a feeling that it wasn't the whole story. I mean, I could have understood if the students protested because the festival was going to be shut down for good, but to protest because it'll be shortened? Well, maybe that's possible too.

Anyway, I still have that feeling that there's more to the story of Chitanda's uncle. Like she said, why would she have been shocked and cried at her uncle's response? I hope we get to find out.

Mmm, that was a really good question from Chitanda at the end. If Houtarou explanation was right, then where was the sad part or the part that would make her angry?

In any case, I can't believe how fast he can reach conclusion. Watching this anime make me feel so dumb xD
Houtarou explanation was clever, as always.

I love how happy Satoshi is ... "a database can't draw conclusions" eh? :P I really like his friendship with Houtarou :D
Man Chitanda's mansion sure is huge lol O_O So we hear everyone present their research and theories ... pretty interesting to see what everyone else thought. Hehe, Houtarou didn't really have anything but still managed to combine everyone else's information into a pretty cohesive theory ... I'm impressed! :P Though kinda like Ibara said, it would've been cool to see someone else figure it out though ...
So it seems like Chitanda's uncle protested against having the cultural festival shortened ... makes sense with regards to what everyone else found, but I thought it'd be a little cooler lol XD Oh well ... loved the animation as always though. Especially with Houtarou thinking and with regards to everyone's theories :O
True though, I wonder what made Chitanda sad then? o_O Also that preview ... OK then, just the bikes and clouds :P

It somewhat bugs me that there's no one else besides the club members in the mansion. Is there a reason for that? Did I miss something?

The way the characters putting their heads together & how they interact with one another was what made this episode IMO.

I had to rewind so many times to appreciate the beauty of the animation & understanding what they're saying, lol.
