| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- So far so good. Stylish retro animation and character designs paired with a somewhat orchestral score. Shame the story development is generic, maybe there will be some twists later. And what is Char doing here? oO EDIT Not mentioning that Ozuma and part of the setting reminds me of Dune (albeit only a bit). |

| The episode was pretty good, not as dramatic as previous titles by Matsumoto-sama. The characters seem pretty likeable, maybe not as much as in Galaxy Railways, but still it was nice to see some cheerful attitude. And Bainas... Did I overlooked something or did Harlock and Emeraldas merged into one badass being? xD Also, it was nice to see another alcohol-loving doctor :D I also like the setting, reminds me of Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust/Dune/Mad Max/Tank Girl. I'll need to listen to the full version of the ED, once the Single will come out, quite beautiful song :D The OP was nice as well, it's not something I'd like to listen to often, but as the opening theme - fits pretty nicely. The only thing I didn't liked was CG, the tanks looked a bit out of place during some scenes, but I guess it's just me and my hatred towards CG. I rate it 7 for now. |

| This was actually alot better than I expected. I dig the art style and character design overall. I still can't get over the fact that Sam has the same voice actor as Natsu, it's just distracting |

| Wow I like anime alot. Too bad its only 6 eps long. Maya is cute. I love the look on that military captain after he learned their ship could dive into the sand. |

| The world needs more characters like Bainas(captain), the first episode was good but i fear thats all this series will be. It seems way to short to tell a true retro sci-fi story. |
| The character design is pretty old-school which doesn't really appeal to me and I don't really like all the comical aspects but I'm interested in the setting and the conflict potential of the story and the BGM sounds good as well. |

| To be honest, from reading the description, I hoped this wouldn't be one of those 'magical female damzel in distress type' with a bloke haveing to 'be the man and look after her', as it really sound like it, though this seems refreshing... I'm greatful this 'mystery lady' isn't a little girl - roles seem reverse appearance wise and such change is welcome. I'm watching Brave 10 at the mo', and this female looks just like Isanami (that type of female mentioed before) though. :P All looks good at the moment. I like the fast pacing, the changing scenery, the old anime art style and the length (6 ep's). The characters seem fine too. |

| Oh boy oh boy! :D I just love how retro-sf this feels, especially after watching Galaxy Express the other day. And yeah, Sam is so obviously Tetsuro, Maya is Maetel... While the Sand Whale is such a Shai-Hulud wannabe. The Captain is badass, tho the laser scene was just hilarious. The masked guy reminds me of someone, but idk who. The doc seems very fishy, but that might be simply because I watched Symphogear before this, they look alike, lol. ... Although I like the old-fashioned char designs, I still think the female chins are just too pointy. x_x Oh and speaking of the design, the Theseus ships are like, the ugliest ever. Maybe I oughta watch Gun Frontier after this... |

| Little shounen kid as a lead protagonist? Check. 'mysterious' girl in trouble and needs to be rescued? Check. Thin Leijiverse caricatures with a Char/Harlock clone while we're at it? Check :/ Not that impressive, but since it's only 6 episodes. Might as well stick with it. |

| I really didn't like this first episode. Characters don't look appealing except for the Captain, story is generic, voice acting is atrocious. Meh, I'll stick with it as well and see how it ends up. |

| At least the style is a little different from the usual. Not liking the VAs so much, could be a lot better. Some of the visuals were very impressive though, I especially loved the one that happened when the ship dived, that was nicely done. Not seeing much of a story so far, but who knows how it picks up in the future. Hopefully this series will not disappoint. |

| I like the art style, don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure if it's appropriate for this series -- I get why it was marked 'for nostalgia-fags' by a friend of mine now, though. OP is meh. The captain is a fucking babe, but other than that I don't think I'll like this show a lot. |

| fairly good show so far - didn't really remind me much of standard matsumoto anime, more like a mix between nausicaa and dune - animation was fairly good and the story definitely has potential - it seems almost like it would have worked better as a full length film (sort of has that vibe) - i'll definitely be watching the next one - this has promise! |

| It's really nice to see a Leijiverse show as it airs. The animation comes off a little on the budgeted side, but the typical Leiji characters and themes more than make up for it. I can't wait to see what the rest of the show holds. |

| Only 6 episodes, huh? Pretty good and enjoyable first episode. I didn't much care for the "mysterious" girl, but that's just me. And for some reason I liked the scenery but found the character design terrible.. The three teenagers who I'm sure is gonna have some sort of triangle bullshit (barf) weren't all that good as far as characters go. But I did like the Captain and the doctor so there's that at least. |
