| I also liked him laid back as if allowing examining his opponents skills in corner and gear. He also had some knowledge in the gears his opponent was using and his. Tak says he has no knowledge in street racing but he does. I take it it's from his father. |
| There's something I don't get. Normally race drivers avoid drifting because it costs more time than driving "clean" around the corner. Yet in this anime they're constantly drifting. Is it just because of the Rule of Cool or is there actually an explanation for this? |

Yeah there a certain drifting culture although this goes against the concept of time attack the anime is presenting. As i said in the first episode you can actually get in the corners faster by drifting along the way, that can enable fast entry into the corner but the cars should lose speed while drifting that a car driving based on racing lines can pick back up after the driver gets back on the gas. So while one guy is drifting away and losing speed through out the while corner, a car racing normally will lose time by braking harder in the approach of a corner but then it will be holding a more easy line inside the corner and accelerating with the resold of having far more speed after exiting the corner and it will seem like it's stronger until they get to the next corner. Also it depends on corners and cars.Drifting can actually give you some resolds if your car is under-powered by allowing you to keep momentum and not have to pick speed from 1st gear. In some tight mountain corners having a car drifting might actually get some resold also but a light car shouldn't get any advantage by drifting. In corners like the ones found in bigger roads and circuits drifting will be completely loss of time. In the end no racer will drift threw a race because drifting absolutely destroys the tyres and he won't be going fast for long and tracks ain't good for drifting. So basically under some conditions(weak car, tight mountain corners, one time ride cause the tyres melt) drifting may allow you to get threw some corners faster but still the benefit on the overall sped time of the ride is questionable at best. |

| Ah, Itsuki is still annoying but this was the best episode yet. I was just waiting for him to get on the road!! I just realized it, but Takumi's character is a really common anime trope where the MC has some secret power but they're really nonchalant about it. Characters like Vash the Stampede and Meliodas share this trait. Thankfully, it's a trope I like. Next episode will probably be good. |

| finally, the running in the 90's ost. god, i was jamming this whole episode from start to end and i was really excited for the moment when takumi would come. and yes, literally. i was moving my head to the beat and mouthing the words, sporadically air fisting. that ending song is icing on the cake. HE SHALL WIN. |
| Takumi was really rude making them wait like that, I guess it was to build up a bit of suspense, but it didn't work because we knew he was going to make it. The way they were skeptical was also annoying, but I can't blame them though. Itsuki acting like one of them, and telling Takumi to stop disturbing the race was especially annoying, but Iketani-senpai saw the light. A pity they couldn't see with their own eyes just how good he is, and not that I expected Takumi to lose here, but the preview making clear that he won, and was on his date at the beach was a bit anticlimactic to say the least. I guess Keisuke lost the psychological battle first, he was more concerned with the fact that an old model was able to keep up with him than with the race itself. Well, it was cool. |
