For ghost or whatever, Asahi sure is a bubbly character full of energy.

Looks like the male idols in this show has quite a fan ffollowing. As far as the episode, it was goofy with comedy gags but pretty dull in terms of storytelling. Not very impressed from what I've seen yet, especially after that weird performance.

The ZINGS duet idol of Kazuki Yoshino and Yuya Niyodo, it's the latter that doesn't want to perform at his best of being an idol, so much so that he wants to quit from the profession being a dirtbag and someone who wants fast money. Compare that to Asahi Mogami's who's also an idol...but someone who's already dead and in her spirit state, that's a weird setting.

The 17-year-old popular idol whom at the height of her fame, has to be killed in an accident, and the ghost of hers popping in front of Yuya after wandering around the idol scene grieving in her loss and trying to talk to someone (which obviously doesn't work). To the idol whom is about to get fired from his work not caring about the fans and not wanting to work hard, this displeases Asahi so much that she throws a fit...only to possess Yuya's body.

And this "supernatural ghost hallucination" actaully turns out to be a good proposal: to let Asahi possess Yuya, if she so much wants to be an idol again after her death. And what ensues...is one comedic strip of an alternate behavior that no one absolutely expected, even his own partner Kazuki, and definitely not Asahi herself of feeling like she's living her second chance at life. Yuya's rise to stardom thanks to Asahi will also give him the break that he needs, so this partnership will set fans and those close on fire: the idol of yesterday and the dirtbag of today - the Phantom of the Idol.

I thought I was watching a standard idol show, but what I got was something more like a blatant comedy, akin to the likes of Uramichi-Oniisan. Could be the surprise low-key hit of the season, but definitely a fun start that I could see myself enjoying quite a fair bit.

Yeah, Summer 2022 has started!

Ok start I guess. Not exactly your typical idol show.

I like the characters and their chemistry. All that comedy reminds me of I★Chu: Halfway Through the Idol and The iDOLM@STER SideM.

The performance was pretty nice. Good job, Asahi!

Asahi is genuinely an idol. Let's make her dream come true.
btw, the dancing CGI was looking pretty weird though.

I went into this show blind. The characters are cool i just feel like i’ve seen this story before. The cgi was ok at best. I felt kind of meh after watching it. I don’t know if i’ll continue this but if i do i hope to like it more as the weeks pass.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who got Uramichi Oniisan vibes from this show. I imagine we'll be seeing a lot of the dichotomy between Niyodo's new over-the-top peppy stage persona and his deadpan IRL personality, especially as we begin introducing more characters. As someone who quite enjoyed Uramichi Oniisan last summer I am hoping it continues in that vein.

I also can live with some blatant CGI if the rest of the show is a fun ride. I definitely hope it holds up its slot as a silly comedic reprieve show (especially in what is an otherwise sparse season for me).

I watched the first episode cause there was nothing else to watch at the time, expecting to hate it honestly, but I didn't hate it, I kinda liked it. The performance CGI was a little bad yeah but that's fine, cause animation doesn't make or brake the anime for me, what it makes me feel does, and this first episode made me smile and made wonder what's coming up next. I'm willing to ride it out and see where it goes

I was honestly surprised to hear Show Hayami as narrator, as I wasn't expecting at all narrator...but then again, it was nice it had one (and it was him because he just has this extremely smooth voice).

The first episode was both fun and interesting! Hopefully, the comedic side of the show will last.

Great episode! Niyodo's uncaring attitude is very funny xD. Yoshino wants him to do well and tells him his fans will be upset otherwise but Niyodo just wants to earn money with his good looks lol. Seems that there is a girl who at the same time says she wants to quit being an idol! Asahi Mogami. She is unknown by Niyodo. BUT SHE HAS PASSED AWAY! The person sitting next to him is a ghost?!
The OP is nice!
'LETS ZING A SONG NOW!'
Asahi was 17 years old and was a very good idol though lost her life in a car accident...
She was mad at Niyodo for not wanting to be an idol and wanted to take his place xD.
SHE CAN POSSESS HIM! Seems there are some very obsessed Niyodo fans! The music perfomance in this show are great!
ASAHI TRADED PLACES WITH NIYODO ON STAGE!

Looking forward to the next episode!

I really liked this, I originally picked it because the premise interested me and I’m happy to say this was a great start. It’s also funny to see another duo male idol anime right after the one last season lol. Asahi is super cute and I immediately recognized her VA, very fitting for her, and I love her dynamic with Niyodo already, I can see some great moments from those two to come, and Niyodo possessed by Asahi is great too lol.

Niyodo is also a funny character, paired with his more enthusiastic friend makes for a good combo just like he and Asahi. The performance didn’t look great because of that CGI but I can definitely look past it because the song was great and the rest of the show seems great so far. I’m definitely looking forward to more of this, and both the OP and ED were great as well, ZINGS has some good jams lol.

Also lol at Niyodo’s milf fan trio, they’re pretty amusing and I hope they’re reoccurring.

Picked this up 100% blind and don't regret it at all. My first thought was Uramichi Oniichan idol edition, but the spirit possession threw me off in a positive way. This is indeed a win-win for Niyodo and Mogami..and the fangirls, lol. Pretty fun start, even the CGI performance wasn't all too bad.

Quite an interesting start, seems like this'll be a nice comedy to follow that centres around idols

ZINGs really do need Asahi's help, it was funny with the fan's reaction to the whole fiasco of, it was all a hallucination, fufu, but it also goes to show how much Niyodo lacks as an idol, hope he manages to learn from his new partner as she seems to be the best bet he has at this point in time

Nice to see another concept being used this time, its quite refreshing

I'm looking forward to the songs and other performance. I'm also wondering if they will have a rival. Also pretty great start if you ask me.

This may genuinely be the cheapest and ugliest CGI that I've seen in a professional show in the last five years. It is bad. Really bad. And since between the OP and insert sequence, it's about five minutes of the 24, dragging it for that is absolutely deserved, even if the song itself is, in English, about "banging your love." It's 2022, Japan. You can spring for a 14 year old to translate things and make sure you're not saying anything too ridiculous. But I guess maybe that would also be removing one of the sole amusing parts of the episode, because good lord, it is not really much of a comedy either, unless having characters announce things like "You're not reacting to me being a ghost!?!?!?!?!?" is a joke for you.

So what is it then? Well, it is Yet Another Idol show. The dude wants to be lazy because he thought being an idol was just superficial looks, but you actually need to work hard and try your best and care about the fans more than anything! Also, there's a ghost girl to do that for him and remind him of the true specialness of being a low tier pop star who will be thrown out by the time they're 30. So make sure to buy all the merchandise! God help us all if/when the VTuber industry starts to edge into this space since it's the same crap but even worse in a lot of ways. Some day, one of these will surprise us and go all Dexter or even Milky Holmes in its opening episode, but this sure ain't it.

Ok, we have the jaded masculine man and the hyperactive girly girl as a duo, a contrast that will lead to some funny situations (is it me or does the ED hint to Niyodo having some bromance moments with Yoshino?). Only Niyodo can see Asahi, so this ought to generate some special bonding between the two, unless she can and will also possess other people.

I normally don't say much about comedy, but I feel like writing now since this is a good premise which I don't feel the anime will execute in a particularly interesting way. I feel like some things were glossed over and some opportunities for jokes were missed here. For instance, there was no apparent reason for Niyodo to have a fan club since they never mentioned anything specific about his personality — which could have generated a nice play with perspectives, were the 3 girls to overinterpret his "cool" personality as signaling a rebellious attitude, or as an attempt to hide a mysterious secret etc. Since that joke never happened, they so easily accepted his new cheerful persona, which was kinda boring and lead to the redundant dialogue at the end of the episode.

Besides that, I felt like they missed a comment about the different voice ranges between the two MCs, which could have lead to some funny cracks in his voice during the performance or something similar, maybe giving him a quirk to his singing as to help them keeping to a comfortable tone for both. But eh, it was just a normal idol scene with pretty bad CGI.

Obviously this is not a high budget show like the popular idol anime out there, so I'm not expecting too much of it. The music and choreography are also not noteworthy. For now, I plan to see 2 more episodes or so to get a feel for how it will develop.

Well that was pretty entertaining and had some funny writing. This is only the second idol show that I've seen, mainly because the CG dancing reeally puts me off. I liked the insert of their debut song though, Bang of Love, so maybe I'll just close my eyes or play with my cats during the next performance 😆

Art is very slick, though their costumes on-stage were really fucking ugly lol but cute characters.

After credits with the fangirls is a funny addition too 😆

Tbf, it's not a bad proposition for Asahi to take over Yuuya's body. It's a comfortable win-win situation.

Comedy, idols (female), idols (male), Studio Gokumi. It all sounds like a recipe for mediocrity.

Yo what's up with male idol shows actually being decent this year? This is two now between this and Heroine last season.

Not a typical idol show at all as others have said, and thank god for that. What they're doing looks way more interesting. Sure that CG scene was jank as hell, but everything surrounding it was good enough that I forgive it. The whole Ratatouille premise it's going for works pretty well for me, liking the contrast of the ghost girl and MC. I don't think they'll be doing anything novel with this, but it's the kind of predictability I don't mind, I'm more interested in how well it'll be executed, which I suspect will be pretty well based on this first episode, which was pretty good overall.

Well, that was different, I mean there are other anime where a ghost/spirit takes over someone's body, but this time, it's a gender bend, the ghost/spirit is a really kind/good person, and the two of them have apparently made a deal so both of them pretty much get what they want.

The being able to enter/leave the body, I guess was almost a necessity, since it can totally deal with the gender bend, so Mogami-chan doesn't have to deal with suddenly having a penis, and it also should allow the anime to play on their personality differences, because I'm pretty sure that the sudden loss Yuuya's personality/lack of motivation, would result in this anime becoming really boring.

So, now it looks like Yuuya is going to have two distinct personalities, on-stage and not on-stage, and this also allows Mogami-chan and Yuuya to actually interact and probably have some kind of pseudo-romantic relationship, because I'm pretty sure that or something similar, is going to happen.

I am a bit confused when it comes to understanding how Mogami-chan was able to both do all the dance/choreography moves and sing songs that were not hers, all the while, not speaking or moving like a girl.

But then, I'm just going to have to write that off as "plot armor" and/or some kind of "anime logic" that lies beyond my comprehension.

Overall, this episode was pretty good, so I'm looking forward to the next episode, to see just where this anime is going to end up going.

This is how "Uramichii-oniisan" should've been executed. Both the "Trash"ness of the male protag and the "spiritual" existence of the female protag has been properly established and utilized in the first episode. I appreciate this 1st episode. This is the first idol anime that caught my attention because it had a supernatural aspect, which is a genre I really like. Overall, I like the plot and the concept, and I’m excited to see what the season has in store!

I will say, my only gripe is the CGI animation, but I also read that it’s common for idol anime to do this due to budget reasons, so I won’t complain about that part too much since it’s understandable.
