Rather than talking about big factors of anime enjoyment, like characters, artstyle, etc., today I'm interested in the really small, maybe insignificant-seeming things that make your favorite anime just an ittybit more special!

For me, I really like the opening seconds of the OST piece "Enchanting Coffee Jelly" from Saiki Kusuo no Psi-nan. Any short that starts with this track just hits me with the relaxed, friends hanging out on a day off kind of vibe. It's a feeling I only really get from this show, and one of the main reasons I love love love rewatching it.

Another little thing I love is from Chihayafuru, when karuta cards are hit. The anime always delivers this with so much energy and commitment that it's crazy reminiscent of the vigor and adrenaline of a high-stakes battle shounen or sport. Keeps the matches feeling like battles.

I can't wait to hear from you all! What are the weirdly specific little things that are kinda inconsequential but at the same time a really special part of your favorite anime? It can honestly be anything!

I like the little sexy moments in evangelion, asuka's cleavage etc. I like the jokes in fmab, my fav is the sandwich one, haters should try to laugh more.

A tiny thing I love about One Piece is the mid-anime 'eyecatcher'. I also like how they occasionally change each character's eyecatcher throughout the show. I'm eagerly anticipating the new wano ones.

I love the English voice acting in Hitorijime My Hero. David Matranga and Austin Tindle put so much emotion into it TwT

Background sounds. I love the studios who put the extra efforts to put the sound effects of the surroundings, which are really not necessary because the viewer will only have his/her ears clinged to the main sounds such as Action vfx, Dialogues or Soundtracks. Its a very tiny thing which goes unnoticed most of the times, but it really gives a feel of the surroundings like where they may be, what may be the weather, the type of demographic in a place, and so on.

Aside from being meta, I really like the ad-lib part in Tesagure! Bukatsumono and it makes for a lot of spontaneous interactions while trying to come up with ideas on each episode's topic, however stupid they may be.

Couldn't agree more. Apart from the fact that there is an overuse of "short" jokes, humor in FMA:B is actually pretty good.

I love the little eye widening scenes in Tamako Love Story because they really add more emotional weight to the scenes themselves without standing out a lot

also it's common in older anime, but I really like the chibi style forms that are used sometimes like in His and Her Circumstances because they look very cute :P

Also gonna have to +1 that Chihayafuru thing. Love that combined slamming noise everyone makes right after the poem is called.

Really like how the Black Lagoon ending theme comes on a couple of seconds before the show is actually finished.

Whenever someone changes a gear in Initial D it makes a very satisfying sound. It was most prominent during the First Stage iirc.

The Monogatari series has so many. Out of the ones I distinctively remember, my favorite definitely has to be that classic camera shutter that happens whenever a character blinks. Also gotta love those black/red title cards that randomly appear. Doesn’t happen very often, but when the show is set in Kanbaru’s house, that bamboo water fountain thing hitting a rock will be used as a transition - another extremely satisfying sound.

Noriko Irie is one of my favorite characters on my list, despite being a minor character in her show. She has short, every now and then appearances, and honestly isn't that relevant to the story. I just love the energy she brings every time she gets screen time.

I don't know how to describe it, but I really like how the colors in Steins;Gate look like , its somewhat greyish I guess? I don't know what that's called.

Just compare these two pictures and you'll know what I mean.

I like the funny moments between Ryuko and Mikisugi sensei, the ones where his nipples glows, followed by him saying or doing something lewd and Ryuko getting adorably unsettled by all that. I also like the Dotonbori-robo gag.

Its called the color palate and I like the more muted colors of Steins;Gate to the point where the colors of Steins;Gate 0 took some getting use to because they were a lot brighter.

I'm not a fan of those, but one thing I love about Aria is the variety of funny expressions the girls have, especially when they are in the background. They are easy to miss. I started collecting them once. Here's a sample. Each of them is usually shown for a second at most, and very small:

And check my profile for my favorite, from somewhere in S1.

The first one that comes to mind is Kirin's footsteps (from Koufuku Graffiti). You can hear it clearly from 20:55 - 21:07 on the video below. Her footsteps sound like a cutesy "plop", "plop". I'm not sure why they gave her such distinct footsteps, as her shoes seem ordinary, but I found it to be really endearing after awhile.

I'll try to think of other neat little things.

I really love how the magic is treated in The Eccentric Family. All these weird and wonderful things happening around the characters and always treated like it's no big deal, even to the human characters who discover it because questioning it would ruin the "magic" of the scene. The OST is also fantastic for setting the mood in these scenes.

A smaller thing. One thing I love in Houseki no Kuni is how the characters continue to move after pieces of them fall off. Diamond has one of their legs broken off in a fight and starts running on her point like a peg-leg and using her broken arms as blades, or Phos pointing forwards with her newfound stumps because they've still got personality.

Let me use a telescope to find such small things that I like.

Monogatari: the classical kanji used everywhere, especially for numbers and in the "kuro" frames.

Owarimonogatari and Zoku Owarimonogatari: the cryptic mathematical jokes.
Chihayafuru: when Taichi stops Chihaya from entering into his room in S1 or when Chihaya writes haiku at the end of S2 (or waka, I am not sure).
3-gatsu no Lion: the noise of the shougi pieces on the board, the silence in the snow episode and the calm when Hina and Rei feel asleep during a summer afternoon.
Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: the noise of the hand fans (扇子, sensu) on the tatami during rakugo performances, and the identical shamisen performance to introduce the artists. When the audience says "待ってました!"(Mattemashita!", "We were waiting [for you]!") when a rakugoka enters the scene. It feels a lot warmer than the silence of the audience in theaters or before a concert of classical music.

Character OSTs from gintama especially the one for katsura, baka ouji and madao. The running gags and gintoki's reactions, kagura's acting like an actual child, elizabeth expressing him/herself through placards etc. Gintama is full of tiny things that I love.

I don't know if it's really small, but I love how all the uniforms the characters wear in Bleach are just a little different compared to the other characters that wear the same uniform. Like how Kenpachi has part of his sleeves torn off and Byakuya has his scarf. It makes it easy to identify the characters even when you're not looking at their face.

This is actually part of why I didn't enjoy the Arrancar's designs as much, since their uniforms were identical. I'm glad that Kubo brought it back for the Sternritters though from what little I can recall.

Everyone seems disliking it, but personally i love how the main character of Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei (The Tatami Galaxy) really talks so fast. I'm satisfied with how Monogatari Series' MC Araragi Koyomi doing monologue himself, and this guy named Watashi just did it in a better way.

Not my favorite anime but I like how in HxH (2011) the ED song starts a few seconds before the episode actually ends, It always just made me smile.
Edit: I like the name "Unfamiliar ceiling" in Evangelion, Since I often stare at the ceiling when I sleep, It shows how he's leaving his comfort zone
Edit 2: You wanna know what character in AOT I want to know more about ?, It's this one

If you don't remember her, She appeared in one episode and said 0 words, But her traumatized almost frightening stare made me really like her character design, I don't think she'll appear ever again, But if you asked me what thing I want to know more about in a show full of mystery, It'd be her. Damn these eyes just peer into your soul.

The Zeppelins around the city. They remind me so much of BTAS, the Gotham skys often had them flying around.
Nods to comic books and famous characters (and people). There's a Robert Downey Jr in the anime.
Real sponsor logos. I know some people are annoyed by this, but I just love how realistic it feels, since I can totally see companies having their own private heroes and marking the shite otta them.
The jazzy bgm.
The not in your face diversity. Western shows just don't know how to naturally handle it, yet T&B did wonders without pointing fingers at itself (''hey look what I did")
The fact that the producers left the main duos relationship up for interpretation.
