I fluently speak only:

English(Native)
Dragonian(2nd language, constructed)

I understand a very, very tiny amount of Italian and Japanese, but not enough to even have a small conversation in them.

I never considered it in the past, but I'm also considering learning French, because I may actually be able to find French speakers in my area to practice with, but I worry that the local dialect might confuse me.

English native speaker, and I can pick out some words in Spanish but not enough to know exactly what is happening except really basic stuff.

If I was to learn a language, it would be Japanese (obviously) just to read untranslated manga and use Amazon Japan lol. Next up would probably be German so I could move to Austria to shred the gnar

I know enough Japanese and Russian to get by in an emergency situation but I can't converse in them.

Fluent in English and took three years of Spanish and Japanese in High School. Only other option was French which is useless, and sadly they didn't add Chinese (Mandarin) until later so it was too late but I would have taken that instead of Japanese since it's more useful.

My mother tongue is German.
My English is okay, but not that fluent. Or at least I'm forgetting about vocabulary in a verbal conversation, because I'm rarely using it actively.
I know some French and Latin. I couldn't hold a conversation in French, I think, because I'm not used to and my active vocabulary and grammar aren't the best out there, but I can read in French.

For the same reason the USA speak english. Natives have been murdered in SA nations since Portugal and Spain ruled over half of the world. Genocide and massive exploration basically, and then cultural and demographic ocupations later.
