Grettings community, I just finished watching Bakemonogatari and I was wondering what was your opinion about this franchise. I have my serious doubts, for times it did capture my attention, but there were others I found myself not completly engaging with it. Don't get me wrong I think it's interesting in it own way and I don't mind the heavy dialogue and lack of action, but still, I didn't find it as fulfilling as I thought it would be. My quesition is, should I continue to watch the other seasons? Does it get more interesting, picks up the pace or is it more or less the same in the other titles?

It gets more interesting, but that's my opinion. Whether you want to continue from this small advice is up to you.

Well, I only watched Bakemonogatari, so yeah. It has its own interesting charm, but it's also very disengaging at times.

Monogatari Second Season is one of the best thing I've watched. But some of the seasons were pretty boring. Overall its a good series, if you liked Bakemono you should definetly watch the rest

If you dislike the MC, this reason alone is enough to stop watching the next one in line. I treat the whole series as a better mushishi with an ecchi approach.

Reasons why you may stop it
You dislike to see MC engaging lolis in an erotic manner.
You don't consider yourself as a visual novel gamer.
You find aberrations as an exaggerated concept just for the sake of plot.

Coming from me who only watched about half of the whole series for now, the pace is more or less the same and it's focused on their relationship in a delicate manner.

no, Grettings to you.

It's all about the characters. Do you like their personalities? Do you want to see them more?

or just watch this and say you are not interested.

if you go by release order, this is waiting you at the end. Pure epicness.

Monogatari season picked in the first episode and the first season would be pretty good if not for the snail and snake arc. Afterwards it's just decline and the only thing worth watching is Kaiki.

The overall character development, themes, and visual style is genuine and heartfelt, but at the same time, it's incredibly up-its-own-ass.

Wide-angle shots of characters standing still, going on monologuing tangents about stuff that almost nobody goes on about in real life in an attempt to appear smart, while having monotonous/quirky expressions/voices really feels like the anime's personally taunting me

The other seasons are definitely different.

Nisemonogatari--focused on the sisters (with a stupid-ass theme about fakes or whatever), but bullshits around a lot more than Bake.

Monogatari series second season--focused on tying up any loose ends of the characters from the first season.

Kizumonogatari--an entirely different beast. Everything you've come to know of Monogatari is gone in this film trilogy. It's a much more action-oriented, bloody, high-production series.

I love the monogatari series, but when asked I never recommended it to people which seems to confuse them. It's definitely not for everyone. Watch it if you enjoy the interactions and dialog between the characters. If that bored you, skip it.

It has its ups and downs but the ups are wayyy up. The characters and their relationships are my favorite thing about the series. The story is unique and interesting but it's not the best imo. There's a very very bit culture gap in the series.

Overall I really enjoyed it. If anything it taught me to read subs pretty fast

I don't love it nor hate it, but I definitely find it interesting enough to continue watching, just at my own pace. Bake wasn't my favourite since I don't like Senjougahara but I liked Nise, and the Kizu trilogies were amazing imo. Stick to it if you feel like it, basically.

It sure has some nice plot

For real tho, SS & Kizu are the best entries. I'd recommend to keep watching it if you've been enjoying it somewhat. Or just straight up go to Kizu, chronologically the first entry and can be watched before the other ones.

I personally think it's the best harem there is; the best Light Novel adaptation there is; the best coming-of-age story there is; and Owarimonogatari in particular is one of my favorite mysteries ever.

I hate Bakemonogatari. I tried my best to finish the series, but couldn't. It was way too pretentious and boring. The sad thing is that I absolutely love the MC. Unfortunately, the anime as a whole didn't work for me at all.

If you dislike heavy dialogue, It will be no fun to continue the series,

There are a lot of more heavy dialogue in the monogatari series second season, but i really love it, its my favorite anime now, it depends on the viewer.. its not really for all

It's fucking fantastic during it's best arcs like Koimonogatari or Ougi Dark. Most of the time it's pretty entertaining with a lot of eye candy, and occasionally it can get long-winded and a bit boring but a lot of that'll also depend on which characters you like the most. Overall it has a consistent mix of superb fanservice, crisp directing, occasionally amazing action, witty dialogue and surprisingly deep characterization and psychological exploration at its heights.
I probably regret this post by now.

It's just average in my opinion. Which is a shame to say because i think some of the characters are genuinely amazing. Unfortunately it was way too heavy with otaku-pandering content for me. An example being Araragi's interactions with Hachikuji, which just came across as creepy. The stuff involving his sisters was a big no for me too. I don't hate the series, it's just a shame it didn't try to be something more respectful, i guess is what i'm trying to say. The only part i'm a big fan of is Kizumonogatari. I think the book and movies are the best things to come out of the franchise. The book is a masterpiece in my opinion. Also Kiss-shot best girl~

It has it ups and downs, but even at it downs it's still decent and rarely boring or annoying.

Definitely on of my favorite franchises.

And you should keep watching, since the highs of the show are about to come later.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

It's my 4th fav anime , and Hanekawa and Nadeko's arcs are so fucking good , they had a great impact on the way I used to watch Anime .

Hanekawa is probably the character I can relate to the most in this medium.

It took a while before I started to enjoy the series because there is a lot of dialogue and the style is very different compared to other anime. But once I got used to that and got to know the characters, I started appreciating it a lot. I like how surreal the environment is and how the anime only shows characters that actually matter. I like the animation itself, which fits perfectly and makes it stand out among other anime. The stories are interesting and it has a great cast of characters. Overall, the series is very good, but the quality differs in each entry. Some are outstanding, others are not amazing, but still decent and some are lacklustre. I certainly don't regret watching this because Monogatari Series: Second Season is my second favourite anime and Kaiki Deishuu is my favourite character.

I'd say just watch the Kizumonogatari movies now. If that doesn't convince you to keep watching the series then I don't think anything will. Not only will they clear up some things about Bakemonogatari but it will also help you appreciate some scenes from Nise (and the rest of the series) more.

Monogatari is great. Not all of it is on the same level (I think the Kizu movies and Owari S2 are the best) but there's no season/OVA that I would say is bad.

It’s the best anime series ever created. Te characters are good, the voice actors are good, everything is good. There isn’t anything bad.
The story is just great, ten outta ten.
This series is not about explosions, they just talk non-stop every single second. That’s what makes it good. Not recommended for people who likes action in the whole episode. Just enjoy the dialogues and the conversations they have.
