Mordred back in action again. Interesting..
We got Mordred vs Assassin of Red this episode which was quite intense physically and emotionally. Mordred really took a beating D:

Kinda neat to see more of Mordred's past I guess. She up a really good counterattack with some help of her master.

Going to miss her. Some bit of focus on Ruler too this episode.

For a second I thought Mordred was gonna lose there, glad she came to a realization before losing, great to hear Queen Arthur talk even a little, Im guessing the one covered up talking to her was Merlin?
Mordred lucked out with her master, if her master was even one of the bastard masters from Fate Zero they woulda left her and went another way or wouldnt have been any help at all, just look at what happened with Saber and Lancers fight in F/Z... tho Kiritsugu's still a badass for that!

Caster from F/Z popped out... he's one of the fuckers I never wanted to see again.. tho it seems it really is Jeanne that's into Sieg.. I thought it was Leticia, her thoughts clashing was entertaining to watch, like a maiden getting defiled or something.

2 eps left, cant wait for Sieg V Shirou!

Mordred and GoLion : Dead.
Semiramis : Status Unknown I guess...

Only 5 left. (Sieg/Trap-kun/Jeanne/Aka no Caster/Shiro)

Yay, Fate/Zero's Caster is back to help out this Caster with his creepy face ! :D

Nice episode.
Mordred and Sisigo's death were sad, but I think it would been more impactful if some random asshole didn't spoiled it at episode 1.
Anyway, in my opinion, the Mordred part shoud have been in the end of the episode, swithcing places with the Ruler part.
I don't know if I believe that Semiramis is truly dead.

Holy shit, I totally didn't expected they were going to bring back my nigga Gilles in this series (more than his cameo episodes ago). Coolest episode to date then.

The cameos of Merlin and Seibah were also nice.

Finally get to see the true strength of Shakespeare. Even better how he even gets a second episode for him atleast. While the NP itself is not strong, it is truly a test of heart and hardly anyone will be able to escape it. Bummer about Mordred dying. I always thought that her and her master would make for a better main character. Atleast she had some character progression. Excited for next two episodes

I liked the animations and the Gilles scene, but I need to rewatch it with subs, since there were some things I didn't get and I sadly can't read the LN for comparisons (since it's volume 5 and it was never translated).

For example, was it explained what Shishigo used on Mordred to make her resist the poison? I heard Semiramis being surprised at that, but I'm not sure if it was explained or even mentioned in this or in previous episodes.
Plus, the Jeanne and Gilles scene... while really cool to see (and I love Shakespeare), I've been waiting for this scene for a lot of time, only knowing that Caster would've broken Jeanne and having basic knowledge of what he did to Frankie (from both anime and LN)... and that was it?
I mean, I'll wait for subs to clarify a bit of the dialogues to me, but didn't they just say to Jeanne "You love him but you sent him to die in the battlefield"?
What's so mindbreaking to her in that? She literally did that to the French Army when she was alive, and she saw even worse things in this HGW.
It's almost like there is a missing part, something that would explain how she shrugs off all of Caster illusions of dead people and then suddenly explodes for Sieg. Is there something related to Laeticia? I feel like there will be more in the next episode, but if that's all of it then what the heck.

Anyone who knows something more (either by reading obscure fan translations or being able to read the japanese LN) can explain it to me?

Remember the first episode? The advanced payment he got from the old dude? That was a juvenile hydra. The poison used by Semiramis was a primordial form of the Hydra (there is a close link from them). Did you notice throughout season 1 Sisigou was doing something as they chill in the graveyard? He was turning the Hydra as a DAGGER. He was a NECROMANCER after all. A hydra (adult) could kill a Heroic Spirit (Chiron) with its poison (the pain caused him to give up immortality) when he found out Chiron's identity in Volume 4, he planned to use it on him. Of course, that never happened. Upon realizing Semiramis' uses poison, he ended up using the Hydra as an ANTIDOTE (yes snake poison counters snake poison its real life general knowledge)

Mordred just wants her father to notice her :c I just want them to meet up and make up but that's unlikely to happen.

I knew he was planning something with the hydra poison, but I didn't know it could be used as an antidote.
Thanks, that clarifies it a lot. Is it explained a bit in depth in the LN?

It hasnt been translated but fans have spe ulated the connection with the Hydra because Basmu (the last creature Semi summoned) is one of the oldest primordial beast associated with Poison and is (a snake) thus closely related with the Hydra being a primordial ancestor. So yeah its pretty much a set up from the beginning that it would either be used to kill Chiron or used as an antidote to Semi's poison. Also bits of materials from apocrypha material:

Bašmu [Summoned Creature]
The giant poisonous snake summoned by Semiramis, Assassin of Red, with the power of “Sikera Ušum: Arrogant King’s Alcohol”. It is one of the eleven demons birthed by the monster of Babylonian legend, Tiamat. It is a species of Divine Beast, the top of all Phantasmal Species, but even Semiramis wouldn’t be able to summon something so powerful in that rushed situation, so she only summoned its top-half.
If Shishigou hadn’t used a Command Spell on Mordred, she would have immediately died the instant Bašmu opened its mouth and released its poisonous breath.

It speaks just how terrifying a Primordial Beast actually is. Even with an antidote, it would have still killed Mordred.

Ayye the good ol' Gilles shows up, I quite liked that part.

Also another really good fight/action sequence with Mordred putting on a show there, that makes it like three cool figths in a row, really like how this is coming to an end.
Now I just hope the ending won't be to disapointing/lame with some sort of 'MC saves the day because he is MC' stuff.
But yeah looking forward on how this will end.

Then, i suppose, seeing one of your former comrade turning child killer could put off someone like Jeanne.

I'm glad somebody finally calls Jeanne out on her bs, she was meant to be a neutral yet she clearly prioritized Sieg who she loves for some reason.. Plot. It was really great though to see Semiramis sticking it to Saber even though as an assassin class she was meant to be disadvantaged. Saber went out like a true badass deciding to go out with her master like a boss, I enjoyed their relationship. Im just praying next week we don't get the corny Sieg rescues Jean and together with rider they beat Shakespeare and take down Shirou and everything is dandy.

Pretty cool fight between Mordred and Semiramis. It's a shame that the best servant/master duo is now gone, but it was fun while it lasted. I wish they were the MCs, I enjoyed their screen time way more than any screen time Sieg has gotten.

F/Z Caster making an appearance, helping Shakespeare fuck with Jeanne's head. Some pretty intense stuff going on there.

Good to see the animation is back to normal. The final confrontation between Mordred and Semiramis was great as was the final moment between Mordred and Kairi. The character evolution between those two is amazing, and it makes you wonder how different the series could have been if Kairi and Mordred were the main characters instead of Sieg and Jeanne. Also, I find it weird that Jeanne first rejected Caster's illusions and only gave in when Sieg was in danger. WTF? Are we supposed to expect her heart now belongs to Sieg after she only knew him for a few days? I don't even know anymore.

It feels weird to see how a saint like figure who can stand any sort of violent scenes (like even killings of children) would break down just looking at Sieg's severed head. She knows this is Caster of Red's NP attack, and this is an illusion, yet she broke down like glass. But that's love I guess. Shakespeare proved too much for her I suppose...

------------------------------------

Basmu.....

Well, at least we know now what Semiramis's NP would be if she appears in F/GO as a playable servant. Applying Hanging Garden as an NP in the game would've been difficult, but Basmu would be quite easy. Poison the enemy each turn after they survive the NP attack.

Sees husbando decapitated: OH NO THE DESPAIR!!! ZETSUBOU KA!!! bullshit...

Basically...
Jeanne breaks because of two things - her own disappointment as she feels responsible for Gilles turning into Bluebeard and Laeticia's emotions after she is being shocked by what she is seeing.
And yeah, regarding Sieg that was mostly Laeticia breaking up as she is in love with him. Jeanne just has a lot of trouble of controlling her emotions. And be ready for next episode as twist is going to happen so cool you will not believe it.

Sieg is obviously alive. Of anything she should learn that she's in love with him and out an end to casters little show. Guess he'll save her next episode with his plot armor.

Can't say I cared too much about Mordred's death, given that she's disappeared for large parts of the show and barely been relevant at all. As for Jeanne being broken by Shakespeare, while that was interesting (and not just because of the return of Gilles and his creepy face), it was kinda bizarre that she shrugs everything off until Sieg gets involved, at which point she then completely loses it. Oh well, at least it explains why Semiramis was so confident that Ruler didn't stand much of a chance against Shakespeare.

So Mordred and Kairi finally make it to the gardens then. Given their roles its to be expected that assassin and Mordred will end up facing each other though. So Shirou had already planned on how to deal with Mordred then. Poison is Assassin's weapon of choice and water is the medium that she uses huh. The cameo from Saber was nice though. But Mordred's true wish was surprising though. The fight between Mordred and Assassin though sure was impressive and a close fight as well. To the end Mordred was loyal to her master and it's sad that weren't able to get to the end. Casters use of Psych warfare against Ruler though was unexpected but surprisingly effective as it plays on her fears and doubts.

It's a shame that Mordred and Kairi didn't get more screentime, as I really like the duo quite a bit. As for Semiramis though, she did spend a lot of her screentime talking to Shiro a lot and only now do we see her really go all out in battle, but honestly, I'm glad that she was killed.

Shakespeare's NB was pretty interesting and it eventually started to effect Ruler, especially when a certain Gilles made his appearance. Like in Fate Zero, he was creepy in appearance and with his words, so I do wonder what will happen to Ruler next time.

The fighting animation between Mordred and Semiramis was good, but I prefer the fights from last episode. =)
