Confirmed, Mai wore her first bra in 5th grade. lol

Hopefully we get to see more Kurumi, she made very brief appearances this episode, mainly stalking the group.

That petting scene at the end was cute, Reina just let herself get full petted.

That power that Haruhiko have. It has the potential to make him either the most powerful character or the most important if that copying power lasts. Not only he gets their power. he also get their memories too. An OP character is in the making.

After watching this episode I'm completely convinced that Phantom World is actually Chuunibyou Season 3. I mean, think about it! A bunch of teens riciting huge magical spells, summoning a chimera from the dephts of hell which turns out to be a small puppy with wings. Coincidence?

Also the whole memory shennanigans of the blonde gril viciously bullying her friends, seeking revenge in a competetive yet playful style, waiting as she headbuts with the male MC who then miraculously gains her memories!

Also the little girl, always following the Main Cast around, watching them fight phantoms and explaining their plot, being deeply impressed by how cool they are. Maybe she's just watching them from the side of the playground? Not having the nerve to ask normal teenagers if she could play with them? Eh? Eh?

And to top it all of: Both of them reenacting the same fighting technique they saw in the cinema together! Just as someone with the Chuunibyou syndrome would try to perform their favorite fighting moves from any given anime!

jkjk it was entertaining though. i liked the colours and the boob fondling. laughed for all the wrong reasons. solid.

This was a better episode compared to the previous one.

Blue screen of death is everywhere.

It was a pretty light-hearted fun episode, despite it feeling like a filler episode mostly.

Wonder if this show will just be random phantom incidents with a short story attached to it and nothing serious at all.

I hope they revisit this memory concept in a later episode so this one has more relevance then feeling episodic. But headbutting each other sounds a little far-fetched. Idk maybe I should try it for my next exam.

I was wondering the entire episode why they picked Ichijou and not Izumi for the memory think seeing as Izumi was better is martial arts then Ichijou.
Well it was an ok episode overall.

Best episode so far. Stupid as it may actually be, focusing on memories like that helped to make this episode lots of fun. Heck, even Haruhiro got to (kind of) make himself useful in the fight for once. I wouldn't mind at all if the rest of the show was as fun and chill as this has been so far, as something like that every so often isn't a bad thing.

Those forward-hanging pigtails are still really annoying me though. It just... doesn't make sense to style them like that. Why, just why would you do it like that? This probably annoys me much more than it really should.

That was actually a really good episode and this time it didn't even need immense fanservice to be entertaining. Story wise it couldn't be simplier and more predictable, but it served its purpose of giving Mai some characterization whilst providing some nice, lighthearted comedy which is rather enjoyable.

I'm quite surprised how much I'm liking the main trio, all of them don't seem to be put into exaggerated character tropes and feel rather lively and natural when they interact, as opposed to Amagi Brilliant Park for example, where all of the character interactions and the "comedy" that arises from them couldn't feel more artificial and cringeworthy. I suppose one major plus is that the show doesn't seem to be focused on romance ( yet ) which makes the interactions and comedy antics quite nice.

Not sure how things'll turn out when the loli with ridiculous haircut and the redhead with headphones joins the team, but eh, I'm really having a nice with this show at the moment.

Anyway, we learned a little more about Mai and her childhood. Action was decent, and the visuals were stunning as usual. Sometimes I feel like I'm watching a science documentary when watching these episodes.

Yes but we are talking about memories and she probably has memories which she doesn't want a boy to see.
Like the last scene showed some of her memories are harmless when they are known or seen by another girl but harmful when seen by a guy.

This, plus the fact that Reina seemed clearly more motivated to help and train herself than Haruhiko. And this is not even mentionning the fact that Mai never believed the memory transfer would work in the first place.

Yeah, I agree this is true. But still, despite Reina wanting to help more, Mai was more willing to put Haruhiko in danger rather than Reina because u know, dat sexy aggresive relationship.

This was a much better episode than the previous one, although its lost that feeling of Yo-kai Watch: Teen Edition that the first episode presented me with, and I thought was really cool.

I'm liking Haruhiko as a protagonist, but I feel like he's a protagonist in the wrong genre/show (maybe even the wrong sort of protagonist for an anime). His book smarts and drawing skills are pretty cool abilities for a male lead (and possibly his Rogue-esque ability copying skill, although that reminds me too much of Charlotte's protagonist), but I'm still not too fond of how he's being treated by his team. It's not funny, in my opinion, and just makes the girls out to be pretty nasty.

Also, Reina is so irritating. I have no idea what they want to do with her character. And the way they have Saori Hayami, who I really enjoyed in her roles as Haqua in The World God Only Knows, Shirayuki in Snow White with the Red Hair, and Urara in Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches, voicing her is just awkward and kind of adds to my distaste for her. Thankfully the narration from her at the end of the episode hints that there will be some distinct direction for her character coming in the next episode or so.

Mai on the other hand got some decent characterization. It fits well with what we've been shown of her already, and doesn't really make her all that likable, but I'm willing to see how her possible character progression will play out. They clearly hinted that there's more to her than just that, after all.

On the positive, the episode was fun to watch and was still animated wonderfully. Three episodes in and I'm sure that I'll follow this one through to the finale, good or bad by the end of it.

I'm disappointed, not enough fanservice. That's the main selling point of this series, why suddenly tone it down? Obviously it's not predictable story (she me these phantoms in her childhood, what a twist...) or annoying characters (there's something really wrong with Ms. Packman).

So, where's the beach/pool episode?

I wasn't surprised, I just thought it was funny. I also assumed they were going to find a way to make that work in a different way, so the way it actually ended up working ended up being unexpected.

That first "action" scene was beyond lame. I'm tempted to think it was supposed to be a joke, but it wasnt... 2v1 on Mai; Mai acts like she's hurt really bad from a single kick; the 2 demons are distracted by a dog with wings long enough for an escape. I guess its just a side effect of them rushing to fit stuff into one episode.

Copying and downloading semantic and procedural memories~> made me think of the NBC show "Chuck"

That episode was so pretty bad. I'm dropping this show.

I liked Phantom World way more when it was doing stupid fan-service like boob limbo.

But even then the show was average with the constant exposition dumps of world mechanics I didn't even care about because at the end of the day it still doesn't make sense.

This show is the definition of trying too hard and failing.

Lets put aside that they can jump onto the bridge's ceiling bars directing 4 metres above them.

What was with that fight in general? That was atrocious. 5 minutes of just running around? Then some plot device power up at the end that faded into a yellow explosion to end it all. Is this a joke?

Don't even get me started on the twisted ankle, we bumped heads and now we can TRANSFER MEMORIES! Oh my lawdd.

No thank you KyoAnus. I'm out. Peace.

For once, I actually enjoyed a Phantom world episode. I was getting tired of the ridiculous fanservice. I mean seeing Mai smile like she did, or seeing Izumi blush are what make KyoAni anime a KyoAni anime. It's the signature that makes them what they are all about.

Neither. Sensei explained that Ichijou has this rare ability to access this bla bla bla server that connects to memories.

I am not going to rationalize how the collision of the heads activated the power because it's a fantasy anime and I fully expect it to remain fantastical.
