 Monday's Love Live! Sunshine!! Niconico Live program announced that the Love Live! franchise continuation will receive a TV anime in Summer 2016. Love Live! Sunshine!! is part of the multimedia Love Live! project co-developed by Dengeki G's Magazine, animation studio Sunrise, and music label Lantis. The new project was announced last February and revealed in the June 2015 issue of Dengeki G's Magazine. The new series follows the nine-member school idol group Aqours (pronounced "aqua") at Uranohoshi Girls' Academy in Numazu, Shizuoka Prefecture. Chika Takami, who is a fan of Otonokizaka Academy's μ's school idol group from the original Love Live! series, similarly forms Aqours in order to save her school from being closed down. Aqours' first single, "Kimi no Kokoro wa Kagayaiteru kai?," was released on October 7, 2015, with the music video animated by Sunrise. The group's second single was announced at the Niconico Live broadcast for release on April 27, 2016. Kazuo Sakai, who directed the music video for the first single, will direct Love Live! Sunshine!! with character designs by Yuuhei Murota. As far as I can recall the only long running shows I've seen completely ignore the passing of time (As do most western cartoons) so they have no need to change the characters. |

| This franchise was practically screaming anime so it was inevitable. I kinda feel it might be a bit early but guess we'll see what happens. Really enjoyed the latest Love Live! movie so I hope so I'll definitely watch this even though the cast is new. |

| Aqours is also being added to the School Idol Festival mobile game on iOS and Android as well, cards and stories starting this month without stories, proper stories voiced by the seiyuu coming later (but soon). Details on the official site's news page. |
| We all knew this was coming. Sunrise wants to make another Gundam don't they :P Although I don't like how they chose complete unknowns to voice the characters, the original at least had some recognizeable names in the cast. And for the love of god don't let Mari Okada have anything to do with this. The first season's infrequent melodrama was cringy enough. Personally, in 20 years I foresee my daughter watching the 26th entry in the Love Live franchise featuring a middle-aged Eli coaching another group of moeblobs wanting to save their school from closing, and being able to tell her that I was there when it all started. Good times. |

Of course when you have a franchise that sells insanely well, especially Love Live, selling even 20% of what the original sold ( in terms of BD sales alone ) would be a huge success. Makes complete sense why they're doing this. |
