they rate based on how much they enjoy the series, and may change their rating depending on how well the next episodes go.
You can buy lossless digital music from your favorite Japanese artists on https://ototoy.jp/.
The songs are all DRM-free and you can re-download your purchased albums as you wish.
Show your support to your favorite artist if you can!
ps. if you are looking for Japanese albums, you have to search it in Japanese (not romaji). Just copy and paste the name.

Rate by enjoyment at the beginning, critically later on.

People change their ratings btw

Rate it based on that one episode of course. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Easily. I just do. If the anime gets better, I raise the rating. If it gets worse, I lower it. Simple.

so what people are rating is the first few episode of the anime rather than the anime itself ??

No, they're rating based off the current episodes that they have watched.

people rate the anime based on what that anime has to offer, if it currently offer only one episode, that they'll rate it based on that one episode.

Honestly, I wish giving ratings couldn't be given out before at least about 3 episodes. Not every anime is going to lay all it's cards out on the table right away, and I don't think it deserves to be judged preemptively for that, possibly discouraging people from watching it due to immediate low ratings.

I also really wish you couldn't rate a dropped anime, since obviously that means the person didn't watch the whole thing, and shouldn't have their rating stacked the same as people who have finished it.

But as I'm sure tons of people are going to say, ratings are mostly meaningless and shouldn't be taken too seriously. But regardless of that, they do exist here, and a little more policing on that would certainly be nice.

Unless you're referring to the 3/5ths Compromise and just got the numbers wrong I'm not sure what you mean.

Mayu means MAL's 1/5th rule which refers to the fact that you've to watch a fifth of a show for your rating to count.

Well with the first episode alone, you can already judge the anime by its characters, sound, animation, art, along with your own personal enjoyment, so I see no issues with rating it after the first episode. (I rate after the second episode, though).

Seems kinda like a BS rule if ya ask me. If you called a winner only a fifth into a baseball game, then the outcome could be very different then if you let the whole game play out. A fifth is not enough time to accurately judge something.

People on MAL can be a fickle bunch though, so I'm not surprised a lot of people do feel that is enough.

It's enough. Maybe not for some shows where the last half is way better than the first half, but for the majority of shows I've seen don't go from shit to perfection after the first fifth.

And it's definitely enough for a long show like One Piece. One fifth of that would be like 200 episodes if it was 1000 episodes.

ppl dont realize that 1 episode is enough to get a general likablity.

i used to do it and change it at the end and notice that there was hardly any difference

seeing as i use 6-10 rating system there really isnt a big margin from the first rating to the last

I disagree whole-heartedly, but I suppose there's not really a whole lot of point in arguing it anyway, even if it was an "official" rule.

Not quite as often, but it does happen yeah, and I don't get that either.

It brings me back to when Psycho Pass was new. A lot of people thought it was really slow and dull at first, but it ended up leading into something amazing. Early reviews/ratings would not be able to reflect that accurately.

Honestly the first episode is sometimes the best becuase that weird hidden agenda has yet to be realized. I normally find first episodes a 6-7 and then they go up or down.

There aren't "thousands" of ratings. With the exception of Attack on Titan and Steins;Gate 0, most of the highly anticipated anime don't even come close to 300 ratings.

Even so, why the hell are there 900 ratings for Stein;Gate 0, nobody has seen it or even knows what's its about. There's no justification for rating it right now.

Because fanboys were trying to get it on the top anime list while it was still possible. Same happened with Attack on Titan, One Punch Man, To LOVE-Ru and some other shows.

I rate it based on episode I've watched so far, even if it's only one episode. I can always change the rating depends on how enjoyable the anime is until it's finished

When it comes to seasonal anime, I usually wait until the third episode before adding a rating.

Assuming the average series runs for 12 episodes, that's 1/4 of the series, which I feel is enough to form an initial opinion. That score can then increase or decrease accordingly as the series goes on.

Well, people can be "trigger-happy", you know?

For me, I'll only rate when I'm 100% convinced, and that's not down to the 1st few episodes, of course.

I only rated K after the first episode cause its my bias plus its a sequel. 98% of the time I usually wait until its almost halfway aired unless I'm still on the fence then its around near when its finished airing.

I don't rate an anime I haven't finished? I guess it makes a bit of sense if you've dropped it, but if you're still watching it, why?

Why are some people so bothered that people rated an anime after the first episode? If they watched it, they can fucking rate it.
