| A majority of the good visual novels I've played aren't hentai/eroge. There is sexual content in some visual novels, but the "obsessive" ones in general are just typical romance |

| Err yes, the majority of VNs do have 18+ scenes. Some people though have changed terminologies around and by 'VN' they mean non-hentai visual novels and 'eroge' for H ones. I still like to use the collective term 'VN' though for both types. |

| A lot of VNs have sexual content. Even most Key games do, and they're more known for their emotional plots. However, there are plenty of good visual novels out there that don't have sex scenes. My favorites like Clannad, Steins;Gate, Higurashi, Umineko, and the Gyakuten Saiban series are all porn free. And then there's also ones like Ever17 (which I thought was pretty good), Danganronpa, etc. etc. But that also doesn't mean that the ones with H-scenes aren't worth playing. For instance, Katawa Shoujo was pretty interesting. And as you can probably tell from the icon, Nitro+CHiRAL visual novels are my guilty pleasure. |

Like, when I played the VN of Grisaia, I kinda felt that the fact Amane had a lot of sex with Yuuji in her route showed her devotion to him, but the presence of the actual scene was not needed to get that point across. |
