Izetta's so cute.
I reckon if she doesn't die during the finale, her life will be burnt out so badly she'll probably not have long to live anyway ;_;

Let's hope she gives those Nazi bastards a good thrashing.

This episode has once again proven that the Izetta x Fine ship shall never die!!! I really felt for fine in the episode. At her age she should not have to bear the burdens of a country. Seeing Izetta call fine by name made me all gooey inside. its a shame there's only one more episode...

Berckmann is so cunning and one step ahead of everyone. He already figured that he was about to assassinated.

It was pretty interesting seeing how Berckmann and muller were interacting with each other it turns out that they are similar.

I am actually surprised to see that there hasn’t been a heated debate yet about whether or not Izetta and Fine kissed during their little moment this episode. I mean, it’s not like I wanted to see a repetition of what happened with Yuri on Ice a few weeks ago, but I was expecting it to happen after that chaotic fandom war.

The "debate" with Yuri on Ice was because it actually happened. People only go into state of denial when the things become very obvious. That's how it always goes.

You explained it perfectly.

Oh wait, I DO get why. Its because of heteronormative world view that conditions people into thinking that "romantic" interactions can only happen between opposite sexes and urges them to "rationalize" any romantic interaction between same sex characters as "obviously close friendship", because "it would not be normal"

Legit. I love you for this. I'm so tired of people complaining, whining that 'everything doesn't have to be gay' when literally everything is already straight. If Izetta was a boy or vice versa, no one would even question the romance.

This episode is good, can say it is return of logic, nice characters and interesting plot, what was bad in the last two/three. It is great, Sofie just want to bomb whole country (it explain her motivation a little), Fine and Izzeta just nice, and even without dumb talking. Berkmann - do it just right. So I welcome this episode, and hope the last one will be good too.

Yuri, hell yeah. I bet that Izzetta and Fine had their first (but maybe not last) kiss at that night.

No one is whining about it, and I'm not saying every relationship should be straight , I'm watching "Yuri on ice " it's totally gay and I love that anime , but I'm thinking it's not the case here, just try to accept the other thoughts without getting angry because they don't agree with you .

What I'm saying is relationship between friends can be be strong as or even more then love
/sex relationship and they don't have to be couple to have that, even between man and woman.

It goes both ways. There are quite a lot of yuri fans who has the yuri goggles on too tight so no matter how hetero the relationship is, they think it's all yuri. On the reverse, there are those whose "heteronormative" goggles are on too tight so any clues that showed the couple's relationship in question is non-hetero, they brushed it aside. It does not help with the amount of yuri baiting and yaoi baiting anime has these days. From past experiences in anime threads though, generally the majority of the people wants it to be yuri (because it's hot and also yuri is <3) rather than hetero so your argument of "I don't get why a lot of anime fans think or maybe want to think that any relationship between two girls in anime is like sisters or very good friends instead of treating the interactions and subtext the same way no matter the genders of those interacting" does not make sense since that argument is usually in the minority, at least from my experiences.

Basically there's no need to get all aggressive. I think what Alhakam still has a valid point that the the relationship between Fine and Izetta could simply be just real close friendship plus lots of yuri baiting from the author where it does not actually exist. If it does, it may possibly be one way from Izetta towards Fine but not exactly vice versa because of the bed scene where Izetta was all blushing towards Fine. Though I'm still uncertain as whether it's love or her strong admiration towards Fine which gets her all excited that she gets to share a room with her "idol". This would also make sense because Izetta has such a weak self esteem and keep holding herself lower than Fine even though Fine herself thinks of Izetta as her equal. So to Fine, it's natural to share a room with Izetta yet for Izetta, it's amazing to share a room with Fine. The fact that she finally got Izetta to call her by her name also proves that since all these time, she's basically thinking "I'm just a lowly person so I can't call someone this amazing by her name...". Basically they're close yet so far. Regarding whether it's love or close friendshipo, it's still up in the air. It won't be clear until at least Izetta starts to view Fine as her equal in their relationship and from there, we can then tell further tell how she feels about Fine and vice versa instead of getting sidetracked by her blushing and "girl in love" behaviors that could simply be caused by her mere yet strong adoration and admiration of Fine.

But this whole arguments reminds me about how some people can't fathom that a man and a woman could be close friends. Basically it's best for everyone to see all the possibilities rather than having their preferred google on too tight.

A fantastic episode as always
seeing the backstory of the white witch and the circumstances
that causes her death was interesting. From that i can see why Sophie
hates the country so much. The magic stone though while certainly powerful
looks to be dangerous to use sue to its side effects but man seeing Izetta
use that to regain her powers and swat the SS out of the bunker was satisfying.

The fact that Berkman decided to defect was a good plot twist though as
i thought that he would simply hide somewhere.

Its also nice that Fine managed to recover from her depression thanks to
a well aimed slap from Izetta.

hmm so Sieg's family had a rule in causing the white witches hatred eh
though in this case they were simply following the queens orders

its sad seeing the country occupied by those damn Germanians
so they found the graves of Rickert then eh
its nice that they were given a burial at least

Seeing Fine depressed like that really makes you sad
and it seems the enemy has finally found the bunker

Damm those germanians
bringing automatic weapons into the fray

So the emperor intends to get rid of Berkman as well eh
just like the Hitler that he was based off
Otto is still an idiot

damn executing prisoners just like that
Damm germanians
Fine's personality just wouldn't allow this injustice to continue
thus forcing her hand to surrender

good thing that Izetta was here to save the day
she looks good in red lol
hmm so its a risk to use the stone eh
well its a good limit to the power though

hmm to think that Bianca cares so much about Izetta
but she has been fighting with Izetta for some time
so forming bonds and friendship is a given

its seeing that both Sieg and Bianca hesitate to give her that stone
both know the consequences of its usage and both are friends of Izetta

ha take that arrogant SS rat
By treating Fine like that you just signed your own death sentence

its good that Berkman managed to survive the confrontation to confront
the SS commander

Side note to think that Sophie is actually voiced by my 3rd fav seiyuu Sora
Amamiya was surprise. This is her second villainous role to date.

Fine's reaction to the stone eating away Izetta's life though was well done

One spymaster being interrogated by another
the irony lol

lol both were promoted and as such both of their information was incorrect
hmm so Germania has created a A bomb eh
that will be another game changer

hmm they intend to launch the bomb in the form of a missile at
Fine's capital eh
to eradicate all traces of the country that stood against them

That bomb and the resulting detonation will be one hell
of a intimidation tool and i think most countries will rather surrender

Lol Berkman really has no loyalty to his country eh
glad that to see that Sieg is different though

its nice seeing Fine worry about Izetta enough
in that she considers surrendering
but whether or not they do won't stop the Germanians
from launching that missile

Damm that was a good slap by Izetta
and a good wake up call for Fine
even if Izetta wasn't used by Fine
Otto would have used her anyway

Its nice to see that the slap while painful
shook Fine out of that depression that she had been trapped in

hmm a two pronged assault eh
Izetta moves to take on Sophie and stop the missile
while Fine moves to stop the peace/intimidation summit

The bond between Fine and Izetta though is really something
lol a night time trip to apologize for the slap eh

The final battle eh
I hope that Izetta would survive that
seeing Lotte and Elvira like that really puts a tear to your eye
Izetta really has touched the hearts of just about everyone in the country

Damm to think that pilot will show up now of all times
and it looks like its another trap by Sophie
Next week is going to be awesome

What a great episode! Truly enjoyed it. :)

The atmosphere was tense and they didn't ruin it with /useless/misplace/ill-timed/ fanservice or comedy. Fine's perspective and its resolution was nicely handled i.e no unnecessary drama, the ambush, its brutality and the response in kind, all made sense and none were extravagant or over the top.

Berkman's betrayal is as planned, and as expected, is becoming the emperor's undoing. His betrayal can be justified but his reason(s) are disappointing. He should want the emperor failing/defeated, not the country. But I guess he can't do much when the current ruler wants him dead. :/

I also suspect emperor's attendant to betray him. He looked displeased with emperor's plan of ruling the world in the last ep.

Fine and Izetta's little date was very touching. ;) They had a nice mood going on too. x)

It's obvious that it's horrible for Izetta but wow does it also suck for Fine. Having her close friend fight a war that she does not want but have very little other options if she wants to save her country against such a powerful country. Having your friend's life force drained away the more she battles this upcoming battle that pretty much defined her country's fate. Feeling powerless because she can't do anything to help Izetta. The death of her father. Her people and soldiers are dying left and right. And the enemy officer does not even giver her any sense of respect and wants to kill her precious people even after she gave up. And also, it seems to imply, that she knows that even if they do win the war against Germania, other country will feel threatened because of Izetta (like the United States of Atlanta) and they will not be able to live in peace any time soon.

Although we don't know Fine's age, she's most likely around the age of Izetta. With all that happened, that's too much of a burden upon someone who should not really have to carry such a burden at that age. I don't blame her at all to feel very tired this episode. In fact, the fact that she managed well thus far is really a significant feat as well.

She really does have a lot of potential and what it takes to be an Archduchess but wow does it suck to be her at the moment.

Seriously, I rather not have anyone else die by the end. But it would totally make more sense if Izetta does die at the very end since that will also solve the problem of other countries no longer feeling threatened by a witch. On the other hand, I hoped that when Izetta said "I learned something about the stone", perhaps she found a good way to use it without killing herself? Or at the very least, she used a lot of power so it shortened her lifespan significantly but she still have a good amount of years left to live the way she wants with Fine?

Ok another aggressive attacker, first of all I just said"I think" and of course I might be right or wrong about it, but your argument is wrong if a lot of people think something is right doesn't make it right, there are many examples in history ,and even if that the case that doesn't prevent me from saying what I think, we have this problem in the anime community a lot don't accept the other idea.

Anyway Back to izetta, don't worry I watched this episode many time and I remember that they shared a bed before, but from my point of view I can see that they deeply in love with each other but not romantically.some time people can love each other without being a couple like maybe a very good friend.

izetta is a very pure girl, she only lived with her grandmother and stayed away from normal people you can clearly see how shy she was and she didn't have any friend befour fine and fine almost died protecting her so she want to pay her "true friend" back, you need to understand the story well not only make a judgment by only one scene.

I feel a bit alone, I am actually enjoying this despite not sympathizing with any character in particular. Isn't it a bit far-fetched to fall under the #3000s? I just think the whole war setup and the "intense" and heartless scenes at the hands of the enemy are pretty well done. You know when you think you know something is going to be interrupted or a character is going to spread shit? This show managed to not bullshit us and actually show us the killings that needed to be done happening right in front of us.

Sure thing the whole "lol it's magic AND science, ain't gonna explain shit" twists are silly, but it's really not that bad.

Of course it goes "both ways". Everything does. However the "heteronormative" ideas are dominant in the market and enforced due to homophobia, while lgbt community is treated as minority and discriminated against both in terms of community AND in terms of in-media representation. Just because it goes both ways does not mean that calling it out both ways makes sense. It would only do if there was an actual equality.

There's no such thing as "yuri goggles". The very fact that such terminology is only brought up against same sex pairings already speaks miles of what that means. LGBT people do not "see more than there is". LGBT community IS better at picking up upon the subtext because that's how all LGBT pairings existed during 70s-90's anti-gay censorship laws. Heteronormative people "See less than there is".

Nobody would bat an eye if Princess Fine was Prince Fine. People ship straight pairings all the time, it does not matter if they are canon or non canon or if they are just implied or direct.
However the moment people of same gender star showing romantic feelings towards each other, suddenly the "friends" aspect comes into conversation. There's this need to "deny" even the possibility, even to gaslight the lgbt people by claiming "They are just seeing things". It all starts with trying to claim things are "up to a perspective"(when things like narrative intent are NOT up to perspective in reality), like it is happening here and in some other shows(ex: flip flappers). However the moment it becomes clearly textual(like in Yuri On Ice), the "its ambivalent" crowd suddenly starts boiling with vitriol, claiming people are overreacting and trying to disprove the actual romance ever happening.

The cycle repeats again and again and only in regards of same-sex romance. So the idea of trying to demonize the gays for "seeing things that are not there" is just hilarious.

You make very good points and I agree now. I did not think about the dominance of it in the market but was rather just thinking of it in the anime community where there are a decent amount of "hetero men who loves girls on girls action" hence the yuri goggles and the prevalence of yuri baiting when it does not exist. I still, however, think yuri goggles exist since they applied to those people I mentioned before. Just like the "heteronormative" goggles where people just won't admit a non-hetero couple's relationship even if it directly stares at them in the face.

Regarding Izetta and Fine's relationship, I'm still a bit uncertain. Now that Izetta is finally seeing Fine as her equal with calling Fine by her name, it should be a lot more clear now whether it's love or admiration. Either way, I'm still very leaning it towards it being one way from Izetta to Fine at the moment. If that's true, there should not be any problems anyway with Fine personally since they're so close already.

There's a very important distinction between a witch as a weapon and a nuclear discharge weapon.

-An atomic(nuclear) warhead is an uncontrolled (incoherent) energy discharge which causes a radial blast fave.
-A witch is a controlled (coherent) weapon which can use precision to hit targets and cut the head off the snake without genocidal murder as collateral.

If you hadn't figured it out, all they are doing is using the magic crap to solve to nuclear reactant problem (to complete a fissionable explosive, which everyone was racing to achieve). This is why they are putting a 20-kiloton warhead on a V2, and able to have them earlier in the war. @mozgow

@Alhakam @Fai @Enternal
Why are you even debating over the yuri? It's pretty obvious, they've been building it up, and there's nothing wrong with it. Whether or not they make something of it or not is yet to be seen.
It is highly probable that they kissed or at least very lovingly embraced eachother just short of kissing. Love it a good thing, you should think along the llines of encouraging it, rather than opposing it. Whether the people watching have 'yuri goggles' or not doesn't really matter.

Now that Yuri on Ice and Izetta did it, I'm waiting for Sound Euphonium...
Unfortunately Euphonium won't go any further than it already has. The source material dictates otherwise. It could have been an excellent yuri if that was not the case. (Ps: too bad that's a frame-spliced photoshop; there are editing artifacts along Finé's back, and the episode frames show them never touching or overlapping faces @Shunaria )

I don't get why a lot of anime fans think or maybe want to think that any relationship between two girls in anime is like sisters or very good friends instead of treating the interactions and subtext the same way no matter the genders of those interacting.

Oh wait, I DO get why. Its because of heteronormative world view that conditions people into thinking that "romantic" interactions can only happen between opposite sexes and urges them to "rationalize" any romantic interaction between same sex characters as "obviously close friendship", because "it would not be normal"

Some girls kiss girls. Some boys kiss boys. Get over it already and join us in the 21st century.

No one said anything against the gay relationship or the same gender kissing, but on the other hand when some one says that he think that one relationship in an anime is not gay he is not educated and stupid and not from this century, and against gay, so I'm not sure who is not from this century.

I think in "21st century" a person can say what he think even if he is against the majority, and even if he is wrong and he might some time be right and the other should respect that right
Or what The "21st century " man think?

So I WILL say what I think And I'll will not shut up even if 1000 persons attack me .........

I dont care, this pseudoromance only taking time for more important stuff like politics and war, so I would like if they finaly kiss each other to get over it, not this teasing. All I was thinking in last scenes was A slap on titan Reiner yelling: LEEEESBIAAANS!!!!

Also, is Izetta going to die or will there be happy ending? I dont know. I dont think this will have happy ending, but premise of this show, I expect happy ending.

Yeah at this point, the teasing is a bit annoying since you don't know whether they go with it or not just like Euphonium. I totally would love to see Reina x Kumiko considering the amount of delicious yuri fanservice they had of the two YET didn't Reina have a crush on you-know-who? So what's all the fanservice about that for? Well, perhaps Reina could be a bi. At least in series like Strawberry Panic (still sour that it's not a Tamao ending), Kannazuki no Miko, and Simoun were clear. Maria-sama ga Miteru was fairly ambiguous at time but it became more apparent near the end. At least that's what I see.

Anyway, about the ending, I still am hoping for a good ending as that would be a good reversal about the true legend of the White Witch. However, all these death flags are overwhelming.

@ GenesisAria
I don't think anyone one here in this thread right now is opposing it. Alhakam just wants to say that it is possible the two are really close friends as well (and does have a certain point as to the amount of yuri baiting as of late for money) and not all things have to be romantic in nature. Kind of like how close Ikta and Yatori was in Alderamin. They are really really close but aren't romantic. Actually, I would argue that they are at a relationship that is higher than romance. They can be considered as the two sides of the same coin. I think that is an amazing relationship to have.

The way I see it is that Alhakam wants to see is a very pure and strong relationship between the two girls which is what he/she is excited to see. A relationship that is similar to Ikta and Yatori. Of course, personal preferences should not detract from what reality is. What Alhakam wishes to see is a bit similar to why I'm playing Final Fantasy XV right now even though I stopped playing any Final Fantasy games since X. The reason is I am intrigued at how the party members in XV are all males so I want to see the really strong bond and trust they have between each other that are yet not romantic in nature. I thought that was pretty cool. A few of my other friends however refused to play it since they want to see some females in the group which is a bit too bad since XV really need the sales right now.

Of course, like I said before, nothing detracts from what Pai said. Pai is indeed correct and I can see very well the points that was made.

I know it is just fake photoshop later when i re-watch over 10 times and pause frame by frame
Still is nice dream to see that

Well, you still can put iris or aranea as guest party later in game and tabata promised female playable characters in future update (Read : DLC Season Pass)
I think what your friend complain is understandable
FF 15 s the first main FF games without main female members in party
Since FF 4 we always have atleast 1 female member in party and that switchable with other members, until FF 15 broken that tradition
Yeah i know that happen because tabata only have 3 years to finish FF15 with (problematic) lumines engine and he don't have enough time to make everything works.
Peoples always "judge book by cover", you can't change that nature so easily.

Amazing how did you know or we just think the same lol, I actually wrote about ikta and yatori in the last episode forum "I think this is one of the best series in summer season I like the strategy and the relationship between ikta and yatori I think it's stronger then love and friendship und I hope for 2. Season" I almost forget all about it myself lol....

Haha yeah. The photoshop at least made the dream come true right? Hahaha. I did find a couple fanfics too on archiveofourown.org if anyone is interested.

Ah right! I forgot about the DLC season pass! It won't be free though iirc so it might take a bit more convincing from me to convince them to at least give them a try haha. But yes while I do understand my friends' complaints, I was still a bit upset that he chose not to play it since he's a more havy jRPG player than I am and he said before that gameplay is really important. I think gameplay is where FFXV at the very least had it down.

@ Alhakam
xDDD Yeah that's a surprise. Well, guess we have similar tastes then and yeah I do hope they have a second season. Izetta here would also benefit a lot with a second season I think. Actually, I'm not sure. I do think they would benefit if they had maybe 6 more episodes to flesh out more about the other characters as well as more development for Fine and Izetta. Anymore than 6 episodes, they might end up just being pointless filler material or the pacing of the series might take a hit. But yes, I would totally like to know more about Obermeyer, the MVP of the latest episode (the pilot that crashed into the enemy and yelling "majo donno!" lol), Bianca, Lotte's family, and more! Screw it, if this was 2 cour, that would have been nice.

That was so brutal where they shot the soldiers in the head when Izetta and Co. didn't want to come out of hiding.

Izetta used the magic stone but it might kill her :( I had a feeling from the beginning that she would die.

THAT KISS MADE MY FUCKING YEAR!!! :D I love yuri more than yaoi, shoujo-ai trumps shounen-ai and if Yuri on Ice can do it, why not Izetta?

Izetta the equivalent of Yuri on Ice? Kinda sorta (not really), but that scene near the end made me think of that for some reason.
