THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Lol, "Amazing Witch Girl". I think Izetta is becoming more and more popular with the public.

As I had suspected, that weird white hair girl is Berckmann's secret project. I don't think she has stable mind either. Kinda creepy if you ask me. I think this episode can set up well for the remainder course of the season seeing that both sides has weapons of war related to witches and magic now. Poor Izetta :<

As I thought this kind of story will not be happily ever after. Even if things go to the good side, somethings must be sacrificed(Izetta). I can place bet at Izetta will disappear at the end of this war and the princess will continue govern her country thinking of Izetta of the past. A witch Izetta may seem normal at war times, once war ended peace to come Izetta existance will be somewhat irregular.

Well of course Its not something I hope for, I'm rooting for a good end for this series like Izetta and princess can live happily together.

Quite the intense episode, Really good one at that. Especially the second half.

Izetta being hailed as a national hero, International fame. Those newspaper pictures. xD

Germania employed a feint tactic to lure Izetta to a different battleground and intercept her with their own witch.
That Witch vs Witch fight was like so reminiscent of Harry Potter. XD

Sophie went from looking like a decent character to edgy in seconds. xD
Well it was pretty obvious from the last episode that the new(old) witch was created artificially. Looks like the second version of the legend is the real one. That's pretty sad. :(

That devastation at the end by the Germanian empire, Izetta in blood and chains. The despair and destruction of war is coming in full force. :(
I actually have no clue how Elystdat can recover from this. They were already much inferior in terms of military might, Izetta was pretty much the sole reason they held up. What hope do they have now? In fact as @valvravetruth says, It's probably gonna be a bittersweet ending with Izetta being sacrificed.
Where is my Deus ex Machina when I need it?!

I'm seriously wondering how they would plan to make this a happy end now. The situation is beyond fucked.

This needs to be a bad end.

I will be pissed off if they did a 180 now.

There should be no reason as to how Elystad can win.

Izetta seems getting used with getting her picture for the newspaper even though she'll regret it later.
And now comes the real deal. A battle among witch.

How does the witch who's a clone know her memories of being betrayed? Did the Germanian like give her all of that info? And why did she accuse Izetta of being controlled ,when she herself is Obivously a dog of the Germanians

Cause magic and anime. Of course it's beyond suspension of disbelieve. No way you can find a reason how she to get those memories.
At best you could excuse the fake witch from getting magical powers by saying she got them through the DNA of Izetta (the blood) and that her own DNA is compatible or some lesser Bullshit.

The episode was good, but I was wondering how the Germanians got their hands on the map and the stone. If it is the other half of the stone, how did they get the map? Was there an additional spy?

If they had both already, why did they send people to the castle in enemy territory to investigate?

My only thinking is that this was another fake by the Germanians to make it seem like they had no idea about Izetta's weakness.

This makes little to no sense. This needs to be addressed.

Also, I had a feeling something was going to happen to Fine in this episode only a few minutes into it. I thought she was either going to be killed because this show has a really bad habit of killing characters in almost every episode that have plenty of screen time. That or something drastic was going to happen to change the entire situation of the show.

Well, they hopes were only in Izetta strenght, if they neutralize her Germania is gonna get a lot of advantage. They were balanced cause Izetta compensated the high amount of soldiers, machines and money that Germania has, but now there's not much to be done. In overall this anime is getting better, is a shame that the introduction was not that good, slow paced and boring characters.

Very good episode. Things are getting pretty ugly now and as others have stated, I don't thing we cant expect a complete happy ending. I can foresee Izetta sacrificing herself in the end to save her country and become and worldwide iconic savior.
The other white witch clearly is not stable, and I expect that she may have some sort of mental breakdown and possibly go berserk.

They got the map and the stone because there was a third spy who took the intel of the body of the first spy. They showed that last episode.

Can we say that she is the real white witch that them Germania's posses?

You know I have that feeling that Muller has the same stone that Sopie has.

Well shit.....things have really taken a bad turn after the appearance of this white-haired witch. It seems like a lot of people want a happy end, but I don't know how that could happen at this point.
I'm no special story or anything. I'm just a manga that wants to be read, like you could find anywhere. But, if, for argument's sake, you were to adapt me into an anime series, it would certainly be....a tragedy.

That just happened oh my god. What Sophie did to Izetta was brutal, I almost found it hard to watch. However I do like Sophie because mad, crazy and creepy characters are my favourites.

I expect Fine to die now due to that ending and also the foreshadowing in the anime's opening theme.

I really noticed the music this episode, and I am really beginning to like the soundtrack.

AGHH so much is gonna happen and so quickly, my body is not ready.

Really sad episode but we saw that coming , izetta was on disadvantage Becuse she was not prepared to fight another witch, and the germanians had a perfect plan by using the stone I think to absorb the magic energy from that place that normally has a lot
now she wants to get her revenge
Maybe Sieghard has a stone too in that little bag
Hard to explain how the clone got the memories, but maybe their blood is different from normal human and can reserve memories.. I really don't know
I hope the will explain it later.
This anime getting more interesting now .

witches be bitches

glad she finally came out, honestly all this is Izetta's fault, but either way America [Atlanta] is going to be the winning factor in this war as Germania conquers

edit: no one going to bring up that the secret service lord or whoever the hell he is killed the kid in vain and now he knows it so #drama when brings up to his highness

I've really enjoyed this show so far but there are just so many "convenient" things to the plot that just make it hard to enjoy.

Last episode after Bianca and the royal guard kill the two trespassers another Germanian spy just happened to be waiting in the woods where the guy was shot? And he knew to look inside the guys clothing for not just the camera, but also the red gem they found that the guy could not have known about?

Izetta and the Duchess just happen to be left unguarded outside of the dance-hall where they can be literally assaulted by Germanians?

The red magic gem didn't react when Izetta was in the room, but only when Germanians happened to invade it?

The White Witch somehow managed to retain her memories and emotions despite being a clone made from the originals genetic material? (This one might be the biggest WTF).

The list goes on...

This show has been one of my favorite of the season but there are just WAY too many plot conveniences that are just to unrealistic.

Yeah, it's getting to be a bit too much for me as well.

The third spy got them there so it's normal for him to be there ,it's like a backup plan and it's also normal for him to look into his pockets to see if they got anything
That stone react only to the real white witch here it's the clone that blood wasn't from izetta
And the germanian at that party could go in by fake name his a spy after all and He want to defeat her in the battlefield so he can use that as propaganda
I'm not sure about the memories part but maybe witch can save their memories in their blood
And you are a holo fan too, perfect :)))))

That scalated really quickly...

Despite some of the plot conveniencies the episode has (like Sophie having the memories of the actual White Witch when she is just a clone), I liked the episode. It was nice seeing Izetta lost to someone after all those victories (since makes her looks less OP than what she seemed at first) and I liked Sophie's character (nice and peaceful at the beginning, but ruthless and crazy after Izetta rejected her offer).

Really don't know what path the series will take now that Elyustadt seems to have lost. I'm at least sure this is not going to end well (the ending will be bittersweet at best).

That was pretty bad. New witch OP character is massively cliche. That evil laugh... cringe.
Now to see what asspull they have in store for us next week to prevent both MCs from dying with three episodes left.

Sheeeeeesh. I knew things were going to go wrong. After the last episode how could they not. But the method and to the extent of how things went wrong were far above my expectations. Elystadt seems pretty boned right now. Not only that but a wave of despair is going to fall over the soldiers. That's kinda the risk you run when you put all your eggs in one basket with Izetta, she's your countires one hope and Germania just crushed her. Not only that, but they were filming and taking pictures! Now Germania is gonna have a whole propaganda revenge. The Fall of Elystadt's White Witch!

Cloning is a cool plot device, but during a WWII setting??? Improbable even if it is an alternative world.

I see the ending as Izetta and Fine killing the White Witch clone. Then Izetta disappearing from Fine and the public eye for good not interfering in conflicts anymore. Back to a shack in the mountains she would go. Calling it now.

Now i lost it, this anime is one of the shittiest i ever saw. Don't get me wrong, i'm not taking sides nor do i care for happy endings, but the story is just so poor and forced. It became really painful to watch.
If germany was like this in real life, the world would be ours by now.
This is basically a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally bad valkyria chronicles clone. Got it? CLONE, ha.

So that white haired girl is the original White Witch.
It seems that red rock gives it's user unlimited power? and probably can remove the power from a place/person.
Just noticed that the capital of Elystadt is Landsbergg, so basically it's GG xD Worst name for a city hahahaha
They only way that they can get out of this and win is if Izetta will help that other witch by reminding her who she really is.

Wow was this episode terrible. The plot's going to hell in a handbasket really quick. The amount of conveniences happening in the Germanians' favor is getting pretty out of hand. They haven't advanced technology enough to even have cell phones, but somehow they've mastered cloning? Please. It's hilarious that they have to make up so many conveniences for the Germanian Empire, but that's also a testament to just how huge a hole the writers have put themselves in. Without Sophie, the war still could've been interesting. She was totally unnecessary. If the writers DID feel like Izetta was too overpowered (which I don't think so, considering she's just one girl, and with weaknesses around leylines), they could've found another way to handle that.

Also, I expected better out of Sophie's design. She's an edgy clone of the real White Witch (and no, she's not the real witch, the real one is dead. She's just a clone). She's maniacal for no reason. Even if she got the White Witch's memories through some magical bullshit, the fact that she barely has it together tells me she's a caricature of the real thing. I can see her breaking. She SHOULD come apart somehow, that would kinda salvage the poor explanation behind her cloning if she ended up having a shortened lifespan. And even if she's stronger, she has to rely on that red stone, Izetta's blood, and science just to function.

And yeah, what ABOUT those memories? If she truly has the White Witch's memories, then I feel like she should still have some kind of sympathy for Izetta wanting to protect Elystadt. It's also strange for her to be calling Izetta a traitor when she did the exact same thing a long time ago. And by engaging in magical combat on the battlefield of WWII, she's also being "traitorous" again, so she's no better than Izetta. She's assisting Germania by trying to take out Izetta. Don't even get me started on how just flat out WRONG Sophie is by calling Izetta a mindless dog of Elystadt. I don't know how Sophie doesn't see that, she was created by Germanian science. If she can come to the conclusion that Izetta is mindlessly following orders, then she should be able to also realize she's so much worse.

But since there's still magic and witches, I can salvage some entertainment. Just...suspend all common sense.

I feel as if next episode or in future ones is that Izetta will lose control of her powers when she finds out the Elystadt has fallen. I wanna see her go all NO MERCY on them (#ProtectTheLesbians!!)

It went from 0-100 real quick there. frustrating to wait another week for the next one

Same here... I liked this series up until this last week (it started with the 3 spies). Its like I'm watching Blindspot or The Blacklist and all these asspull story lines happen that make no sense. Don't even start me on the 1940ish Germanians perfecting cloning. This is the week this series jumped the shark.

You know, this would make a lot more sense in something like Wolfenstein: The New Order. At least I could excuse that game because it was meant to be ridiculously over-the-top.

that always struck a cord with me from the start when Izetta was already being held in a time capsule like container, hell most we can do now a days is "barely" animals let alone full on humans but anime.

i would of liked if they were gonna go with the new witch is actually good but nah she took a quick 180 to being evil..not sure how a good ending is gonna come out of this shit is fucked real bad.

also agree all the plot conveniences have piled up to much which is a shame i been enjoying this show for a while now

Elystadt is almost doomed. The capital is no more. HQ was bombed big time. Izetta is tied up in chains. The Germans have Sophie, the White Witch. Bad end coming their way? But Sophie gives the US a bigger reason to first take down Germany instead of Elystadt because a bigger country with a witch is far more dangerous than a tiny country with a witch, especially since said big country wants to take over the world or something. So the US will be helping out Elystadt. But their help might not come that quick because if news of what happened reaches them, they'll first breathe a sigh of relief that one witch is down. They'll have to revise their plans assuming they had some plans to save Elystadt.

But this situation Izetta is in is going to be tough to get out of. Finè can't come to save her since who knows where she is now given that attack on HQ. And I think Izetta is with the Germans now. Sophie has some trick which Izetta doesn't know about. She used that red crystal of blood (?) to stop Izetta's magic. I thought there would be some whatever thing and Izetta would make a comeback and force the Germans to retreat. That didn't happen. But they had such cloning technology back in the 1940s? Nice.

Also,
"can't you see you're being used?"
goes on to destroy Elystadt for the Germans
Despite the revenge thing she has, she's still being used by the Germans and there is a chance that she'll be disposed off if Otto feels like it. And I think she'll come back to kill Izetta after destroying everything. The little period of peace they had has gone down to hell in almost an instant. A bad end would be something here. Although they're kinda making me root for Elystadt and Izetta.

When you fucking spill strawberry jam all over your face and you just sitting there in disappointment

This show turned into a bit of a wreck as it progressed, poor pacing, poor character development tbh, but it's almost at the end of the show so it's obviously going to be rushed. Might be the first ongoing show I've ever watched which was kind of a disappointment lol. Loved the first episodes tho they were kinda sick, I guess most animes these days start off great and get shitty as it progresses forward in the season, especially with originals as the budget runs thin, ideas get rushed and thrown around and they're desperately trying to wrap it up in the best way possible.

welp. I was expecting a catastrophic defeat at some point, but didn't think it would be so quick and thorough, certainly not to the extent of their capital being taken 2 hours after.

They've got to instill some hope for the remaining episodes, though... my guess is some nonsense shenanigans involving Fine or Izetta breaking out of a Germanian military prison and rescuing the other. Either that or the allies somehow learn to teleport their forces to Europe (which, given the cloning silliness I almost wouldn't be surprised).

This episode just was too cringey to watch as it was just too predictable at times. Very disappointing series that showed a lot of potential in episode 1 and it all went to crap after that.
