THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Dang, I feel bad for Fine this episode. The way she's being treated by the enemy military..

Looks like Izetta is recovered at full power now and we also get a bit of Bianca showing her sincere concern for Izetta. I guess she has a bit of soft side for her too. Berckmann once again shows his malevolent side. Man, I really dislike his character but what he told about the secret weapon and Izetta could be true.

Interesting to hear more about that "secret weapon" I guess. One more episode to go, hope it's not going to be rushed.

So it's time for the princess to feel what it's like to be a prisoner and leave her nobility to a negotiation. Even when it's just for a short time until "Rage" Izetta comes to the rescue.
Totally agree with Berckmann. The "instinct" of survival has driven him to betray his own country. After all, it's fear that's the most "primitive" emotion people have.

I liked the part where Germanians got their heads bashed in by flying bricks.

I don't know if they should trust in Berkman, it could be all a trap and the bomb could attack from another side, or this guy could be a really traitor.

Quite a good penultimate episode, Set up everything really well for our grand finale next week.

I hated that military officer who was intimidating Fine.

As expected, Izetta decides to use the other half of the magic stone, She recovers her powers and wrecks the Germanian troops.
Berckmann betrays his country, I don't find him in the wrong. His country ordered his execution when he was the reason they made so much progress.
Interesting, So Germania basically made a magic nuke.

I did not see that slap coming, Izetta sure set Fine straight.
Loved Fine and Izetta's little Broom outing, Izetta finally calls Fine by her name. :D
The moment with both of them sitting atop the mountain and looking out was the best.

Everything's set up now, Izetta faces Sophie, Fine and co are trying to get into the meeting but are stopped by the plane commander.
Looking forward to seeing what happens, I think it'll be an exciting final episode. Though it might be rushed a little since they have to fit all these events into one episode, Hope that isn't the case.

If we had more episodes like this one this might actually be above average show.

Sadly still expect Izetta to die and their VERY UNAMBIGUOUS relationship being passed off as completely ambiguous.

Izetta did say all she wants to do in life is to fight for Fine, so it's quite likely she's gonna die.

That been said, Izetta wasn't developed enough for me to care all that much, so I'm fine with her dying at the end.

I am actually surprised to see that there hasn’t been a heated debate yet about whether or not Izetta and Fine kissed during their little moment this episode. I mean, it’s not like I wanted to see a repetition of what happened with Yuri on Ice a few weeks ago, but I was expecting it to happen after that chaotic fandom war.

The "debate" with Yuri on Ice was because it actually happened. People only go into state of denial when the things become very obvious. That's how it always goes.

Berckman coming with juicy secrets since he has a death sentence in germania anyways.
Izetta slaps Fine out of her beta ways and they go flying together afterwards :)

Now we head to the finale.

Fine looked so tired. She was willing to surrender so no one else would die. But Izetta slapped some sense into her. The moment they had was nice. As for Berkman, he is telling everyone about the secret weapon because his country wanted him dead and he wants to stay alive. One more episode left.

Berkman is willing to betray his country for his own survival.Fine was tired and thought of surrendering but Izetta put some sense to her.Now the final comfortation between the two witches is about to start.A good episode and I hope next week we will see at least a nice fight since the ending seems really predictable right now.

I'm still hoping for a happy ending . . . For some reason I'm more invested in these characters than any other show this season.

This episode wasn't horrible, but it wasn't all that good either. In any case, this anime is beyond saving. Nothing will redeem the fact that the plot was almost entirely driven by contrived situations, or how one-dimensional the characters are.

Fortunately, there's only one episode left. Let's see what happens.

I find it hilarious how this show gets bashed left and right for contrived situations. As if 99% of anime wasn't chock full of those, LOL.

So Fine and Izetta huh...

Am I the only person watching this show for more than the romance aspect alone? Like, it's definitely there... but what fascinates me more is the alternate timeline and the gorgeous action sequences. The characters are well developed and likable, except the villains who are mostly two dimensional except for a few scenes where we see them goofing off an playing poker. This show is at it's best when you see all of their strategies and peace negotiations fall into place and Izetta carry them out. There are some utterly fantastic moments in this show that gave me chills. At times I also appreciate the espionage and power plays between these two warring nations. It's a shame to write this show off, or praise it merely for the Yuri romance elements because there's a lot more depth and rich character development below the surface. What annoys me more are the arbitrary fan service moments because the rest of the show is above that tropey bullshit.

Sure, quite a lot of anime are like that (though not really 99%) but that doesn't mean you can't criticise it.

The magic stone eats away at Izetta's life and the final episode is titled "Izetta." I think that's enough for me to draw the conclusion that she's going to die.
I'm no special story or anything. I'm just a manga that wants to be read, like you could find anywhere. But, if, for argument's sake, you were to adapt me into an anime series, it would certainly be....a tragedy.

I don't get why a lot of anime fans think or maybe want to think that any good relationship between two girls in anime is lesbian love why not like sisters or very good friends.
As everyone I think it Will and it should be a sad ending anime probably by the death of lzetta or/and Fine
So in this version of ww2 Germany was the first to make the atom bomb and wants to end the war with it interesting.
I'm not really sure but I think Berckmann is laying Becuse I saw the wepions that the German made to attack izetta and Sophia was expecting her to come although I think izetta will win anyway

This episode was pretty meh....
Hope the next one is going to be more interesting, although I can see how this is going to be a boring ending where Izetta dies after she wins and everyone will be sad with dramatic music but they will have hope because the nations will defeat Germany and everything will be fine.

Seriously, I can be the writer of this anime...

I bet Berckmann is planning on something. I can't trust this guy, no matter how much information he had given them.

That Fine and Izetta moment gave me the good kind of chills. If only they kissed, it would've been even better.... Or maybe they did?

Finale next week. Hopefully they won't rush it. Time to prepare myself for Izetta's death ;__;....

Well, this is it. The final nail in this coffin will be struck next week, and yuri-bait can move to ruin another series.

The thing is i wouldn't care much if Izetta dies, too short of a series so it ends up being rushed. And they are clearly going for that.

That over-the-clouds shot was sick btw.

The pacing improved a little with less scenes wasted on unnecessary dialogues.

I'm not really a fan of yuri-bait but the last scene is something I couldn't like more.

They so fuckin kissed offscreen. The ship is sailing, but with some large death flags attached.

Now that Yuri on Ice and Izetta did it, I'm waiting for Sound Euphonium...

Izetta takes the stone even though it'll sap her life-force all for the sake of ending this war and fulfilling her and Finè's dream. And Berkman betrays Germany because they discarded him. His story has turned into something similar to Sophie's lol. Both were betrayed by their country after all they did for them and now want to teach them a lesson. If they were in Drifters they would be part of the ends faction.

The yuri was pretty damn strong here and now I'm hoping for an ending where these two get together as a couple. Izetta has triggered quite the death flags. She has to take on Sophie to stop her from taking the missile to Landsbruck which is as strong as a nuclear bomb. Lol in this parallel universe it is Germany with the nukes. Would be pretty good too if they kill Izetta and Finè and nuke Elystadt and win the war. Perfect bad end lol.

Death Flags everywhere. I'm really hoping the flags are false and Izetta and Fine have a happy ending.

But I feel like this won't be the case.

4/5- Build up to the final episode with death flags all over the place. I really hope Izetta survives and I REALLY hope they don't have an open-ended finale. I'd be really piss if Izetta "died" but a silhouette or something like that shows she might not be.

I hate endings like that so much. It never sat well with me. Anyways, I've enjoyed this series a lot. That Bianca/Izetta scene hit the feels pretty hard while the Izetta/Fine flying scene was very touching.

Let's hope for a happy ending.

Yes yes yes yes!!!
Finally, Izetta used that rock, she is back!
Now...the last episode, the final battle! Good luck girl.

I knew that they kissed i knew it! I knew that i saw something in those few seconds. Since they never showed us a clear image of them, and now we have a pic of that moment!!! Probably the best moment in the whole anime. Amazing <3
That was pretty obvious since what they feel for each other is more than friendship ;)

Thanks for the pic @HalAnime

So we go from Standartenfuhrer Hans Landa going full Sicherheitsdienst on the Elystadt soldiers and royal guard, only to get backstabbed by shady guy Berkman while mahou shoujo throws bricks at SS anti-partisans, to a full on yuri with underage girls.

Brilliant.

Honestly, at this point I'm seriously wondering why the Germanians don't just nuke the Brits and be done with it, rather than playing cat and dying mouse with Elystadt. Not even Hitler was that incompetent.

I guess the princess got jealous over Sophie, because the prince still in love with her, that's why she ordered to execute Sophie.

Berkman got on Fine's side. Although, only one episode left, I wanna see his backstory, why he said those words that most important for him is to live and it's okay for him to betrayed his own country, he kill first to those who will kill him.

I don't get why a lot of anime fans think or maybe want to think that any relationship between two girls in anime is like sisters or very good friends instead of treating the interactions and subtext the same way no matter the genders of those interacting.

Oh wait, I DO get why. Its because of heteronormative world view that conditions people into thinking that "romantic" interactions can only happen between opposite sexes and urges them to "rationalize" any romantic interaction between same sex characters as "obviously close friendship", because "it would not be normal"

Dude,im not saying it is not ok for the same sex to have romantic relationship, and if they turn to be lesbian I'm ok with it, but I don't think it's the case here, all what I'm saying is every time in "ANIME" two girls have good relation everyone think it's lesbian.
Some time friendship can be deeper then any romantic relationship, between same or different sex

Yeah, I know. But it's absolutely silly, especially when you think about how the Nazis wanted to unify all (pure Aryan) Germanic people. The population of Elystadt is undoubtedly Germanic, which begs the question of why the hell would the Germanians want to obliterate those who they see as their own people.

Granted, I'm pulling at straws from our world's history, but considering how lazy the worldbuilding is, I'll assume that ideology runs parallel in both worlds. The only point of nuking Elystadt is plot, not logic.

Also, think about it. Nuking the crap out of London is a MUCH better scare tactic than bombing a few tyrolean peasants in the middle of the alps. If the Germanians nuke London, and put Operation Sealion into effect at the same time, the Western allies will be completely defeated. I doubt the Americans would reply immediately, and without a proper base of operations, I don't think they'd be able to do much for a while.

--
And to contribute to the whole lesbians thing, honestly, I couldn't care less. I do, however, find it really annoying how it was never taken into deeper consideration by the characters, and how, for all intents and purposes, nobody in the Elystadt court or military seems to care.

I mean, come on! We're in the 1940's, for Christ's sake! People were homophobic as hell during that time. How come nobody ever makes a remark of this? The other characters should be completely disgusted at Finé and Izetta. And, while you can argue that their relationship is secret, they didn't really make too much of an effort in public.

Germanians knew Berkman would betray them and they are prepared to fight Izetta.

And I was right they would use V2 for the bomb :-)

But it's not fully functional yet and it needs to be guided by the witch.
