This episode was enjoyable, but I was a bit disappointed in the "mystery" in this one, considering that even I could figure it out only a few minutes in.

I'm still not quite sure where this show is going, but I like watching it. c:
Chitanda is adorable.

This is the least interesting episode for me so far.
Maybe because I just found it absurd and stupid to search for why the math teacher got something wrong and why she get angry to begin with... (you know, it's normal for teachers to make mistakes)

Next week looks interesting (not for the fanservice, I hope it's a mystery about ghost :P)

You guys....actually enjoyed this?
It was the most stupid mystery ever! It was easy, useless and stupid!
They talked for 10 minutes about getting angry, and then another 10 minutes about Chitanda getting angry against her teacher. And in the end She haven't EVEN say WHY she got angry.

i found the first half of this quite enjoyable and entertaining but knowing how Chitanda i knew they were gonna have to end up finding why she got angry and most people could have guessed why the teacher made the mistake -_- just hoping for the day Oreki able to tell her to calm her cute face down over every little thing!

That was... I'm not sure where to even begin. We got a whole episode of "lol da mathz teecha got mad. halp me figur out y." Really? That was just so... mundane and trivial. And then I'm pretty sure someone will come in and say "THIS EPISODE IS REALLY ABOUT HOW DEEP AND MYSTERIOUS CHITANDA IS CAUSE NOBODY CAN FIGURE OUT WHY SHE GOT MAD EITHER LOL U NUBS SO STOOPID CANT REED BETWN DA LINES."

Next episode: The case of the missing box of cookies that Chitanda left in the clubroom at the end of the episode!

Oreki hoping for one moment that Chitanda would be his soul mate was awesome and I love how he already fears the "ki ni narimasu". Chitanda showing all her facial expressions and getting angry was great, too.

The question why she got mad and why Omichi made the mistake were lackluster, though. I did not figure it out, I didn't try to but you can't call that a mystery, it wasn't interesting at all.

Next week onsen? Sounds great, looking forward to it.

i swear, every time houtarou breaks down these mysteries, it's ALWAYS SO DAMN INTENSE AND EXCITING to watch

this episode's mystery was so trivial, yet houtarou at work alone made this episode just as good as the rest
love how they were able to revolve a mystery over illegible handwriting xDDD

and "angry" eru was hilarious because she just doesnt really evoke any "anger"

oh, and eru being houtarou's soulmate??? O.o
i really hope so ^_^

I mean, let Houtarou find Bin Laden or solve the Greek recession instead of solving Math problems and shit that happens 45 years ago!

IN general the pride and other sins as they talked about were merely at fault of one element in moderation and hence those are sins only when in excess of them they are abused. Like Chitanda mentions pride is good a little off because without it there would be no progress.

Nothing else or deep reading matters in the pride. There was nothing else to base on anything else deeper. The only pride Eru has in this episode is "Hating on people that waste food" but it's a pride worthy of being used.

The mystery is not with the math teacher's action but with Chitanda herself.
What kind of person is she and ultimately what does she want from Oreki?

At least this is what I think Oreki is thinking.

Oreki is feeling rather warm towards her. "Soulmate!"

Seven sins:
- lust
- greed
- envy
- sloth
- gluttony
- wrath
- pride

LOL. I have 6/7. That's not good, is it? o_O

Chitanda is pretty, but what an airhead... you should know why you get angry.

Houtarou is so sarcastic. I love him. <3
I loled so hard when Houtarou saw her as an angel/soulmate. XD

But... I figured out the mystery before he told the answer. That never happens, so this means the mystery this episode was really weak. Would be a waste of 20 minutes if not for the characters. Honestly...

Kleeny, you didn't get it, do you? The main thing about this episode was not A and D and finding the reason behind getting angry, it was more Oreki's uncovering a bit of the mystery called "Chitanada Eru." The whole point of the episode was said at 22:13.00.

A great episode to my liking. It was quite easy to catch the mistake on A and D as soon as Satoshi mentioned he was in class 1-D and they had the domains of quadratic equation covered, I figured it out. But I absolutely loved the way the power of imagination demonstrated while Chitanda was telling the scenario. And the angel-like Chitanda and the mini-angel-like Chitanda-tachi with their curiosity as seen by Oreki were splendid. Too bad. Oreki thought he had found his soul mate there. :P

And I said this before, I am saying it again, the ED is so adorable. I can watch it like over and over and over again and still watch it all over again! :)

I was really confused on what Hotarou meant towards the end of the episode, when he was referring pride to Chitanda. Anyone wanna analyze that?

Also, I don't really see Hyouka as a mystery anymore lol. More like slice of life. The small "mysteries" are great and entertaining, but they just don't really seem like full fledged mysteries to me.

The subtle hints of romance are really cute haha. I really want to see some development between Chitanda and Hotarou. ;-;

Quite simply the following,

the very pink matter in his life. However he has a hard formulating a type on her. Perhaps unravelling the notion of love may prove the greatest trouble for him. This just due to my IMO of him having close manners to Sherlock Holmes himself once again. Meet also Satoshi being Watson somewhat.

To being on point, Sherlock Holmes always had problems figuring out love itself really hence why Houtarou has problems, assuming of course till proven.

Seems like more than one person is bothered by that. I don't think it's something too complex.

When he mentioned "pride" he was referring to himself, probably meaning that he was getting too full of himself by trying to explain Chitanda's thought process, when he doesn't really know much about her. At the end he empathizes on "sloth" being enough sin for him, as a reminder to avoid becoming too proud of his deduction abilities... Or something along those lines I think.

Pretty boring episode tbh. They just went on and on about trivial matters, which one of them didn't even get solved by the end (why Chitanda got angry). Overall this episode was a big step down compared to last week's. At this point I really hope they'd thrown in some romance to spice up the atmosphere because so far it has been a bit dull...

The episode wasn't that exciting but it was refreshing to see hotarou's brain to work again :) I thought it was pretty adorable how he viewed Chitanda as an angel for those slight few seconds and how he thought she was his "soulmate." But once again, not too exciting for a Hyouka episode. Could have been better, in my opinion.

Usually, I don't mind, and sometimes enjoy some of the mundane stuff they solve, this however, was not one of them.

It didn't stop me from enjoying other parts of this episode though. The argument in the begining was hilarious to me, because I could see this happening in real life somewhere. Theres gonna be some 'pair' in a one sided argument, some one trying to stop it, but can't and one dude who just dosn't give a shit. I also enjoyed the discussion about the greed and pride stuff and how once Oreki heard Eru say "I'd waste too much energy" He suddenly found her as this goddess. It would have killed me if this was like an abridged series and he said "I... love you..." Not for pairing reasons but because it'd be funny as shit. but it was even funnier when he was shot down as she was Joking.

It felt like a mental rock was thrown at my head when we were trying to figure out why Eru was angry. I mostly defend this show for its down to earth mysteries as they are things people just don't think about, and I can understand suddenly blowing up and forggeting why you did it, but... the span was only in a few hours, you couldn't have forgotten THAT quickly, and figuring out why the teacher would make the mistake is a bit TOO mundane. I could say its to fall into something else later, buuuut... yeah.

Mystery was a downer, but I did like how they broke it down anyway. With This show they can make the small stuff entertaining, and with Hotaru, you can just tell he's just trying to come up with a believabe excuse to feed off Eru with (ah the haruhi-esc feel...). I also like how Hotaru is comparing himself to her and trying to figure her out, I think that may be the biggest mystery this show'll have, even IF murder was involved. Finding reasons for death and a killer can take less than a day or two, figuring out the mind of the oppisite gender though... not so much.

Overall this ep definetly had some good points but the mystery this time around was too mundane for me to find enjoyment in. I can't speak for how easy cases are to solve as I can't solve a mystery for the life of me, but generally I just didn't care.

I think this episode was pretty good. I liked the whole "seven sins" thing for the first ten minutes, epic how Oreki thought he found his "soul mate" when Chitanda said she didn't like getting tired. Also, funny how "Chitandael" and "Chitanda Eru" sound exactly the same with a Japanese pronunciation. The conversation had a slight Bakemonogatari vibe to it which took place of the usual generic mystery, which was nice.

And since the first ten minutes were done, the next mystery wasn't boring and drawn out as some of them are. I saw the A and D thing pretty easily, though, but it was still a pretty decent mystery.

What I found interesting was the confirmation of some of the negative things I've heard about teaching methods in Japan. I will cut the teacher some slack since it was the review part of the lesson, but he should have recognized something was wrong much more quickly (particularly after calling on a good math student for the answer and drawing a blank). That's the point where I would have looked around the class and checked to see if we had covered this or not. As to the notes about where the class left off, it's my understanding that Japanese teachers get significantly more time to prepare their lesson plans than North American teachers, so he should have been working off a plan for what to do for the lesson, not just a note regarding what page they were at in the book. Of course those of you who don't have a periodic gig supervising, training, or evaluating teachers could probably care less....

Of course I focused on the teacher so much because the mystery was not quite as enthralling as others. I did like Oreki's vision of the angel though.

I found this episode surprisingly funny. I don't even know why, maybe because I was in a laughable mood. Nonetheless, though it's a simple episode, I found it incredibly enjoyable. I guess I'm enjoying the relationship between Chitanda and Oreki. Oreki is the pillar, and Chitanda is the person who ever so often tries to knock the pillar off its 'feet'.

The mystery today was too easy. I figured it out by the time they explained the class names.

Though, I love the part where Oreki's body is full of mini-Chitanda angels.
Also, when Chitanda told everyone that getting angry is tiring,
Oreki said he found
Ahahaha, cannot get enough of Chitanda's pushover attitude to Oreki.

I really enjoyed the argument and the discussion on the Seven Deadly sins in the beginning of the episode, lots of good character interactions and development too. But like most people I found the mystery to be a little too trivial this time, though Houtarou's breakdown of the mystery was very enjoyable as always.

However, I really hope that an interesting overarching plot develops soon. I feel like the animation, characters and music are all top notch but the fact that there's no overarching plot keeps this show from entering "masterpiece" territory. There's still plenty of time to introduce something (maybe there are more secrets to be revealed about Sekitani Jun and Hyouka) but I do hope they bring it up soon, I don't want this series to end up a disappointment.

LOL @ people that still expecting mystery from Hyouka.

Hyouka is a story about adolescence, and mostly slice of life. Get your expectation right before watching Hyouka, since you can only expect average to great "mystery" from main story arcs. Mystery is a plot device for Hyouka, not the main theme.

I'm not disappointed with this episode since I laughed pretty hard in this episode, not something that I often do even in comedy anime.Anyway, the main purpose for this episode is moar character exploring and development, afterall. Also change of pace.

Not bad an episode. And not so great.

I didn't think that he can mix up A and D that way, Oreki is smart whether it's the truth or not.
I think this is how this show plays, coming up with reasonable reasons that can convince Eru-chan regardless of the fact.

It's trivial though, but I actually find the equation easier to plot with domain specified.

This episode was super-retarded.

It's all about how Chitanda didn't know why she was mad.

Who the fuck doesn't know why they were mad at something? (Unless quite some time has passed since then, which obviously wasn't the case.)

Chitanda's pushiness is extremely annoying. She's pretty damn selfish: she doesn't care about troubling anyone else--just sating her own curiosity. And most of the time, its curiosity about completely inane and trivial matters. (The matter with her uncle being the only exception.)

Dumb show is dumb.

So there are some RIGHT expectations :D since when?
I was expecting mystery show and it fails at this.
In returns it gives a decent SoL story about one guy who is lazy but hides it under some philosophy - at least he starts to be more active, that's nice.
