I'm a little confused as to why the photo is so surprising to Yui. I know that none of them have ever actually talked about their feelings so this,I guess, makes Yukino's feelings for Hachiman concrete for her, but I was under the impression that they had all now acknowledged the love triangle in their own vague not actually acknowledging it way. Wasn't that the entire point of the final episode of season 2? Wasn't that the whole proposition at the end? To either keep ignoring the romantic feelings and maintain the status quo and their friendships or to finally come clean with each other and move on even though it's gonna be crappy for one of them and bittersweet for the other two?
surprising because Yui knows Yukino has feelings for Hachiman but Yukino hasn’t talked about it. In her monologue on this part, she kept talking about why she thinks it’s cute, why she should have asked Yukino (even in a jokingly manner) and Yukino would have refused it too. Yui is surprised at the first because this is the clear evidence unlike before, and lol then she talks about how she had known this from a long time.

And last episode of S2 was indeed full of those emotions, but the thing is they didn’t know what do they expect from "come clean with each other"

I felt bad for Yui at the end of the episode after she found that picture in Yukino's room. All she does is suffer, can she catch just one break for once lol. So unlike 8man, who wants something genuine, Yui doesn't....I have a feeling those opposing viewpoints may stir up some drama going forward.

I think Yui does want something genuine its more so the nature of her situation. Deep down she realizes that if she withholds her feelings for the sake of the group staying together (this avoids hurting Yuki but by not exposing her feelings to 8man she's lying to herself in a sense) then her love isnt genuine its selfish. She's in a very difficult spot where she loses something regardless of which decision she makes. :/

For quite some time now, I wondered why this season started out not very punchy and felt very dramatically monotone. But, I figured it out now.

The past two episodes there is a distinct lack of the signature monologue from Hachiman.

A huge part of the series is how we see through the world in 8man's perspectives, often gleaning explanations about the things that he does in a convincing manner. There is a distinct lack of that in the past two episodes.

Although there was a drop in the number of monologues in the second season, I think monologues are exceptionally crucial because we're plopped in a time where the subtexts and relations are all too tangled up for the viewer to effectively process what's happening before it gets too tedious rather than engaging. Especially when you consider that S2 ended with the "I want something genuine." line which happened a few years ago. This isn't a problem in the LN because it's mostly first person.

I hope that we'll get a refresher scene where 8man assesses his current situation, comment about the state of the club or his relationship with Yukino or Yui, or even recount what happened in the winter theme park. Because without that, it seems it's just a really bland slice of life with a semi-developed romantic undertone we got here in the table.

Hopefully in the next episode.

Well first, I have no memory of that photo whatsoever, can someone be so kind to tell me in what episode was it taken please? I'd also appreciate if someone told me what does Yukino want? Oh and btw what is the genuine thing that 8man wanted again? genuine friendship? genuine love? genuine Xbox exclusive?

I also have zero interest in whatever beef Yukino is having with her family, shits so boring. Thank god Iroha appeared and saved this episode and probably also the next one, solving the problems of other students is what I'm here for. Thanks Iroha.

And I'm still salty about the blond bitch from previous seasons, I don't even remember why exactly but I know that her personality sucks big bear's balls, and didn't get the spanking she deserves from 8man yet Lmao

The anime is cutting too much that at times I don't even know what they're talking about.

I can’t believe I’m still watching this. I hate the characters.
I wanna kick Hachiman’s a$$. He’s such a wall flower but condescending. Maybe he DOES need a drink to loosen him up.

Why doesn’t Yui admit her feelings. She’s all bubbles until it come to her crush. Yukino needs to do the same. Since the first season. It drives me crazy they are content in their mundane sorrow filled high school life.

Yukino and Yui Should have a sleep over together and maybe some skinship like a bath to really tear down the walls they have built.

Why did they animate Iroha Isshiki almost exactly like Mikoto Misaka. I mean the look nearly the same.

I Personally didn't appreciate the first episode. It didn't feel like like the start of a series, more like the missing final episode of s2, really being a bad example of tv adaptation. On the contrary, this 2nd episode really marked the start of the long awaited oregairu 3 while strongly taking back the viewer in its emotional and delicate story!

Sometimes I wish the elder Yukinoshita would take Hachiman all for herself. After all, they are indeed alike.

Perhaps it would lessen the hardships that Yukino and Yui have to face.

Right now it's boring as fuck and it looks like it will keep in the lame path with all those club situations. I forgot if the anime was like that the first 2 seasons and I just don't like that kind of anime anymore or if it's the fact that I didn't rewatched the first seasons.

Yep, that's probably part of the reason. Also, there's something bugging me about the way they developed Hikigaya. Like, in the beginning, he was the guy who's always detached and uninterested in the whatever everyone else are so busy in, but now he seems to have forgotten all of that.

I mean, he obviously couldn't stay like the cynical loner forever, but I still can't help but think that something was lost. Though, this may just be very well because I found his cynical loner personality so relatable in the start, lol.

After I watched the end of the episode, literally got this feeling or assumption that this season will be a little heavy compared to last season.

Yui finding out that picture of 8man and Yukinon together a long time ago really hits her hard and I just feel Yui will have a rough start with this season and apparently Yukinon have confirmed she has feelings for 8man and due to that, I just hope things for Yui turn out well.

This episode was quite something. I mean, the ending was the biggest "shocker" of them all and pretty much gets our harem moving cause it pretty much doesn't move at all.

Haruno is really something else. "You can't get drunk." This took me a while to realize this but I believe what she is trying to say is that "you're unaware that the actions you are taking are uncharacteristic of who you are." More or less, it's almost like she's saying that Hachiman might just be getting caught up in the moment and that his actions aren't really a direct reflection of who he is. Same with how Haruno said that she might act drunk and stuff but she realizes this so she's not "really drunk."

I think this will come back to maybe bite Hachiman in the future. I can only see this as a downside because I myself tend to sometimes get caught up in the moment and do things which are not necessarily who I am. I can't get drunk either.

The poetry meaning that came on Yuigahama's inner monologue was indeed a beautiful matter. It felt deep into her heart. It touched so hard into her feeling. But, seriously, tho. That was a surprising matter to knew Yui felt into some condition like that. I thought she must had more proved, more enough that actually these episode couldn't be contain so much hurt feeling like that, about the relations between Hachiman and Yukinon. I guessed, the drama was really needed till the end of day. Very well, then!

So, yeah, the post-pone reason till the S3 happened as the only logic they had to why this episode finally reached the finalization. The problems there was how Yui respond after so much happened. It will be really intrigueing. Since the prom night actually appeared as the main event on this main final. The real deal. Interesting approach, once again, at Oregairu. I had a little shame too, that the opening song animation had some detail about the what happen in a prom night. Oh, well, feel. really like to teasing, eh? Great, you, guys!

So, despite the whole Yukinon family problem hanging on the background, regretting how hot Haruno and Hachiman conversation in the first sequence, lets just solve an important event for them to break a little of their drama. A prom night, presented by Iroha! Could it be another successful thing for the club?

Its called a grew up personality condition, imo. Hachiman now in that situations. He pretty much had that changed after confessing the sincerity for both of girl in the season 2 arc.

Yui's monologue about that photo(LN volume 12), if you want to understand what Yui was thinking at that time, because I know the subtitles might ruin this scene:

I should forget it.
I should pretend that I never saw it.
I can't pretend that this moment never happened, but I could at least forget.
Surely, she would do the same.
This photo was without any sort of decoration, but still meticulously placed within the
depth of her treasures.
She kept her feelings here without even thinking how she would put them into words, nor
even conceiving how she would put them into actions.
Perhaps it would be better for me to ask about it instead. I could ask her in a joking
manner, like I was teasing her. Then, I could laugh and tell her that I'll be rooting for her, or something like that.
Yet, if I were to really do that, then maybe everything would come to an end.
If I asked and questioned her, she would certainly deny it and say that it's not like that,
that such a thing is impossible, then end it as is there.
She won't acknowledge it, will overlook it, ignore it, and neglect it.
She'll pretend that none of it ever happened and forget about it, then lose all of it.
That's why I definitely won't ask her.
It is unfair to hear her feelings.
It is unfair to say one's feelings.
But, that's because it's scary to know his feelings.
It would be most unfair to blame her.
The truth is that I've known for a long time.
That there was a place that I won't be able to enter. Even though I've stood in front of that
door many times, I thought it best not to interrupt them, that I should only peek through
and listen.
The truth is that I've known for a long time.
That I want to go there, too.
That's all I've ever wanted.
That's why, the truth is…
Something genuine, I never wanted it.

Wish I could read more of the others' replies without spoilers, but I think it's pretty clear that Yuigahama realizes the relationship between Yukino and Hachiman. I think I knew that she realized the subtle feelings Yukino had for Hachiman in the first season. When starting this anime, I never thought I'd be this invested, thought it was gonna be another show for quick laughs, but It's really good and surprises me each episode. I'm rooting for Yukino, but at the same time, it's hard not to feel bad for Yui. She never even got her date with Hachiman, and then not to mention, Hachiman rarely shows any sort of affection. He fell into his youth that he was bashing in the very first episode. Youth is quite the rollercoaster.

Honestly the only reason I'm still watching this is because I really like Hachiman. I'm sure many would agree that he's a really relatable and likeable mc but the rest of the characters, I'm not sure. I'm not saying they're bad, the problem is I've almost completely forgotten everything about them. I don't remember their personalities and their struggles or whatever. I might as well be watching this without having seen the previous seasons. Like at that last scene, what was that all about? Is pink-haired girl jealous or what? And Yukino? What's her deal with her family? What's the drama all about? It took them a while to make a sequel and it took me a longer while to watch them and now I have no clue about what's happening. And no, I never re-watch anime no matter what.

Please, at the end, in the most emotional scene, give me the OST that played during Yui's discovery, the one that also appeared during season 1 and 2. I'll easily cry if that happens because it's so good.

Amazing episode. So many things happened, Yukino's confession to Haruno, Haruno actually helping her so finally, for the first time Haruno is a nice character and Yui's discovery. Her monologue was so great, seems like she already knew that Yukino likes him and that probably Hachiman also has the same feeling, yet she wants to keep the frienship just like it is now, hence the "That's why... I never wanted anything genuine". She doesn't care if it's superficial just like Hayama's group and I think that's what she was talking about at the end of season 2.

Another amazing scene was the dialogue between Haruno and Hachiman. Every time they met, you know a serious conversation is about to happen. Haruno talking about how she can't get drunk was a great "cover-up" and the same goes for what she whispered to Hachiman, that "I bet you can't get drunk either". Even when she's drunk, she still is aware of everything happening in the surroundings which means she can't enjoy the moment, so that's her saying she can't have that "genuine thing" and Hachiman is the same as her, he never enjoyed the moment, or at least not in the first season, hence why he was so serious when recalling what she whispered to him.

Felt like I just got stabbed through the heart

At the end of the 2nd season, these three more or less in their own subtle way made it known that they do indeed have feelings for each other. But I don't believe Yui truly knew what she was up against until she saw the photo. She didn't want to lose the bonds of friendship they had created, so maybe her proposal in the last episode of season 2 was her way of keeping said bonds, even if two of them should enter into a relationship. But now she sees the depth of the affection that at least Yukino has for Hachiman, and what she would be destroying if she got in her way. Would all that she wanted to protect be lost, if they pursued what was genuine? A rift would be created, and Yui would lose, no matter the outcome. During my first watch, I was team Yukino all the way. This episode has changed that. That said, with the way things play out, I think what we get is probably was the more emotional impactful ending than the alternative.
