Why'd the girl have to get all "erotic" with the massage... cringe with complete eye-roll.
I still want to see the past of Willem . :>

Once again another good episode displayed, and I will not forget to give complain about the OP senario(song's good tho) - I got too much spoiled in a weird way :(

EDIT: We also got some lewd scenes but I am fine with that happening because this MC acts like a mature guy. MC is the best thing for me for this show and the story I got spoiled severely by Opening Song's Scenario :(

What a boring episode. And lot of things hint that this is going to be some poor melodrama around dying lolis and girls. Dropped.

None of the loli's die, by the way. That's the only spoiler I'm giving, because out of context, its hard to believe.

Idk if anyone else has brought this up (I'm not gonna bother reading everything in the posts since it looks like a mess of quotes), but...if the girls don't fear death, then why did they fear Willem/think he'd eat them/etc...?

Because those fairys still would love some pudding? I mean, they don't mind die, but there so many fun things around. They not robots after all. And grown-up fayries pretty much don't wanna die, there just no other way around for them.

Because it's not that they don't "fear", it's that they don't understand the value of life.

This has nothing to do with fearing willelm. Peoples who have a fear of spiders aren't afraid of them because they think they're going to be killed, and little children who fear monsters hidden under their bed aren't especially afraid of them because they think they're going to be killed, as well.
Even as adults, we can still get a fright from a good horror movie while knowing very well that it's not going to kill us.
Just becaus eyou don't care about dying will not suppress fear of various things.

I do not understand why many people find this to be, "emotional". All the little kids' personalities is that they're little kids. Them, along with the 15 year old girl, have done nothing impact or memorable, yet the anime bombards us with all this sad backstory about how the kids will die--who cares!
I've noticed that I've been dropping a lot of anime this season, for listed reasons no one else has. Maybe I've just become a psychopath from watching too much anime?
BTW, my original post was deleted. I'm gonna be careful what I say from here on out, so I won't dare go into a debate.

There has only been two episodes, it's too soon to call this anime an emotional one or an emotionless one. So far the show has only introduced a bunch of the main cast and will finally be focusing on the more primary characters and developing them in the coming episodes.

I was asking why so many people here had reactions like, "Damn, I'm getting the feels!", and questioning if maybe I've just become a psycopath, because everyone else at least CARES about what happened in the ep.
What do you mean by, "it's too soon to call this anime an emotional one or an emotionless one"? A majority of the characters are little kids, who are 95% likely gonna die, the main cast feels really uncomfortable about it, MC has that, "Man, this is so tragic", and troll and blue girls are like, "Hmm, yeah," the latter even saying, "Come on kiss me, I'm gonna die"...like, did I watch the same ep as you guys??

If you dissect the OP a little, it shows that really only the older fairies are sent off to battles. Most of the kids are too young to go to combat and are not likely in any danger.

Yeah the blue girl is obviously a little depressed when she has reached that age where she has finally begun to grasp the value of her own life, she now expects to die within ten days. Still though, please don't make assumptions what kind of direction the story will go this early, I read the LN recently and it turned out to be one of the best LNs I have ever read and I think this adaptation will handle things pretty well.

2 eps in, no major older fairy characters introduced besides blue girl. I knew that a drama anime with the draw being cute girls was gonna feel emotionally cheap but...I mean come on, only ONE character, being a dude, 2 eps in and we're already supposed to care about blue girl who's done nothing interesting. I'm gonna make the safe assumption that this anime's gonna focus more on big dramatic moments for characters who just get introduced or give the audience 0 reason to care about them, other than that they are, "pretty girls".
I mean, anime like Kanon 2006 have drama revolving around girls, but the MC in it feels bad for them AFTER they've had a decent amount of screentime to be interesting. Blue haired girl's personality is...she wants the MC's D, basically. Both have 0 chemistry, and she's already in love with him. If those aren't signs of, "shoved in your face drama", I dunno what is.

We have 3 older faeries currently introduced (Kutori/Chtolly, Nephren and Ilthea) with 2 more to come.

As mentioned earlier, none of the little girls die, they're too young to get sent out to fight and they don't have a sword yet anyway. There are very few singular, dramatic moments here. No characters are introduced and then killed. Saying anymore is spoiler territory.

Kutori doesn't want to get into Willem's pants. She just wants somebody, anybody really, to remember her when she's gone.

I didn't mean the little girls, I meant the older ones.

I can't stop thinking about the feels..
From what i know we will have a closed ending, since the manga already ended...don't know if that's a good or a bad thing tho...

What a nice opening!

The first ten minutes made me feel all warm and happy, then it happened, the revelation of their nature (beyond the mere fact that all the girls are being used as weapons) and the link to Willen's past. Also, we even got a little bit of fanservice.

-yeah the actual OP is super jrpg
-alright alright alright we got ikea and neptune
-yeah naeglaria is definitely the worst thing in this show so far
-giving neptune the pudd
-wait ikea's fox ears were just tufts of hair?
-appendix is a dirty team killer
-uhhhhhhhhhhhhh
-maybe it isn't the names that are fuckin weird, maybe it's just these subs
-yeah this show just went full jrpg
-the kiss of cthulu
-i will admit the shopping dialogue was pretty funny
-wow what a slut getting addicted to his lips
-ah yes now this is a light novel adaptation, nice dude

But things were not nice dude. Pretty much the only thing even remotely interesting or memorable about this episode was the reveal of the child soldier thing, and only that. The entire worldbuilding thing is shaping up to be very standard JRPG fare, and the dialogue in this episode carried far less of a whimsical feel to them than they did in the last episode. Maybe it's just because of the context of the revelation in this episode, but I'm kinda bummed that the atmosphere of the first episode won't seem to be carrying over to the rest of the show. Another thing that really turned me off were those random-ass JRPG terms coming out of nowhere at around the halfway point. The weird-ass names are whatever since it like directly contributes to the whole fantasy feel, but I don't think there's any reason to come up with gibberish for the words "mana" or "human".

It's a shame I wasn't able to catch this on the Twitch marathon because I'm sure it would have bumped up my enjoyment of this episode by a bunch.

Neither are gibberish though. There's plenty of words in this series that are either French, old english, or latin, and all the text you see written are french or latin. The two you complained about are respectively old english (emnet and wiht/wight, litterally dwellers of plains, as opposed to barrowiht, another race in this verse, dwellers of mounds) and latin ( venenum=venom, poison). The old english name for a race extinct since 500 years ago gives an old legend feel about that now dead race, and the use of "venom" instead of mana reinforce the notion that this is poisonous for the body as we heard here.

From the writings/documents we see during the story, humans were writing in Latin, and the most common language among the surviving races is French.

The names of many characters are obvious reference to lovercraftian mythology, so you pointing out the ressemblance with Nyarlathothep and Chthullu is correct, it's on purpose, and they're not the only two. ;)

I feel like this episode picked up the pace a bit, but there was still quite a lot of hollow exposition. We’re still getting characters thrown at us with the introduction of the double braid neko tomboy Ithea and the short twin nyanpass Nephren-chon. Not much to say about them as they’re just empty characters atm. Troll maid gets a bit more development as the onee-chan of the place with her tending to the broken faced lolichaun and telling Willem a lot of things he already knew (more poorly done exposition). Speaking of lolichauns, I was pretty happy to see our first bit of drama in the series. The lolichaun falling off the cliff and no fucks being given was the highlight of the episode for me. Willem was a bit over-dramatic about it, the face zoom and pupil wiggle dundunDUN was kind of silly, but he isn’t wrong. Them lepers be creeping as fuck.

The fresh-faced and moody Chtholly gets some skin deep development as we learn a few vague but seemingly important facts about her. Finally, I like that we get to see a bit more into Willem’s character and his fatherly charm. All very shallow developments character-wise, but this is episode 2, I’m not expecting heart-wrenching or epic backstories quite yet. The fact that Chtholly plans to sacrifice herself would have been somewhat dramatic if not for the fact the I have no reason to care about her living at this point. I’m basically in agreement with the leprechauns viewpoint as of this episode. In fact, they could have given the role of sacrifice to the troll maid and it would have made more of an impact because at least she has a reason to live (to eat willem) where as Chtholly is just cute and nothing else at this point.
