Another beautiful episode. I love the world setting of this anime, it's so colorful and detailed. There are even seasons that follows a timeline.

Apparently, Kino and Hermes are waiting for a particular man in this country. The episode had less action compared to some of the other episodes but still had its value. Kino is such a useful character in her story.

It was funny to hear Kino's comments on the idolized items. On the other hand poor motorrad, not being able to run outside anymore.

The housekeeper was fishy from the start. Missing girlfriend and a young maid close to the landlord? Yeah that's totally not suspicious. The story about the princess sneaking out of the castle made me realize another possibility though, that she was in fact her surviving the revolt with another identity.
The way she sent him away made me rofl, "hey I heard an engine in the distance..go!" he dashed off without thinking twice.

The first part with the other motorrad was okay at best, although I did like how Kino essentially inspired that kid to form a relationship with it and possibly free it and become a traveler, so that in itself was really nice and I liked that we saw another talking motorrad in general too (Hopefully we get to see more)

But the second part in the country of liars.....THAT was fucking beautiful and just handled so well....It really threw me for a loop because after hearing about the Hero's story, I felt extremely bad for the guy especially when considering how much trauma what he did could do to someone

But at the same time, I was saying how nice it was of his housekeeper to still take care of him and uphold the lie that the country had going (It was pretty tragic to see but I totally understood why they did it) and I was hoping that maybe one day he'll learn to love her, but then the twist came with her being the princess etc and I was just shocked

Not only did it make me respect her more but I felt sad that she pretty much decided to live her life without having the man that she loves truly returning her feelings for him regardless of her being happy and content with it....But then this story arc mind fucked me with that ending

This was something else lol, I did not expect any of these twists AT ALL and I freaking loved every bit of it....I wasn't quite sure if the guy knows that his housekeeper is his lover (And vice versa about her knowing the truth about him) but even so, I hope that he'll eventually start a family with her nonetheless :'')

Can't really say it better than this. The story of the second half was very bittersweet yet it has it's own beauty about it, the final scene with the hero telling Kino he's fine with things the way they are made me smile. Who would've thought the title 'Country of Liars' would actually have such a beautiful story.

The second half in particular felt like something that Gintama would pull. xD

Super warm with this series now, this is the third episode in a row for me that i truly enjoyed.

The first story was sickening for the Motorrad. While the people cherish the story of his rider/traveler and how he saved this country (they believe they do him good to showcase the Motorrad to the people which is just fine), the Motorrad wants to be ridden (also just logical for him to say).

Kino made sure to get the kid to ask the Motorrad (he knew he wasn't going to stay any longer and wanted to travel), i believe the kid will take the Motorrad.

The second story was oddly heartwarming to me. Everyone of those people are liars but they do it to be happy in the end and not hurt the ones who are happy in this very moment as well, that's quite astonishing to me. I hope that these people stay happy.

I would like to know more about the country Kino visited in the first half. The motorrad is very sad for being locked up and not being ridden. It was nice of Kino to inspire the kid to be a traveler and make friends with the motorrad. It's pretty cool to see another one. The second half was very beautiful. Everyone in that country is a liar. I felt bad for the guy for going through so much trauma after finding out he killed his lover. It was nice of the housekeeper to be taking care of him for so long, but it was surprising to find out she's the princess. She still loves the man, even when he's still waiting for her. I smiled when the guy said he's fine with things the way they are.

Only Kino no Tabi can manage to make me feel sorry for a bike. The feels were even stronger in the second half. A man loves a woman who's "gone", and he doesn't realize that the woman is already in his life, and also loves him. Until the last scene, which put a nice twist on everything, I thought it was marginally cruel how everyone kept him in the dark. One minor nitpick, there's a striking lack of ethnic heterogeneity in a journey that, supposedly, takes place in the "world." So far, most of the characters—except for one dark-skinned character in episode 2—look quasi-European.

Pretty good episode overall. About on par with the previous one.

I loved the second half more than the first because the first half is just sad.

The people from that country which Kino visited created a memorial for a man who was a traveler who saved their country and became their first President, and they displayed all his possessions like it's some kind of national treasures including his motorrad he used to ride when he's alive. And that motorrad turns out is so depressed because he was displayed instead of being ridden. Not even Kino and Hermes can help him because they don't want to make enemies with the people from that town, but turns out that motorrad will have his new rider: that kid Kino talked to. I hope that kid can yeah save that poor motorrad.

Kinda glad nobody's weird in that country, though. That poor motorrad made me sad.

The second half is about Kino visiting another country and the focus was the man who fell in love with a farmer's daughter, but she turns out to be the princess sneaking out of the castle (like Aladdin yeah, specifically Princess Jasmine haha). Then they planned a revolution against their king, and that guy is one of the leaders of the revolution, and everyone thought he'd killed his own lover because he was the one who threw the grenade at their car while they're trying to escape, hence it made him insane because he couldn't handle the fact that he killed his own lover with his own hands. Then they made him think that his lover left for a journey and it's been like that for 5 years. And many caretaker gave up on him, but there's one who lasted for 3 years and she's a traveler.

And that freaking reveal, maaan. That guy's caretaker is the princess herself who traveled back to that country for that "insane" guy, but THAT INSANE GUY IS NOT INSANE AFTER ALL: he's just pretending. Lmfaooooo. Little did that princess and everyone in that country know that he's been lying. Lmfao.

Heck, everyone in that country are liars after all. Justice to this episode's title. Haha.

I have queries, though.

First, how come the people from that country didn't recognize that princess when she came back to that country "as a traveler"? It boggles me.

Second, does that "insane" guy knows that his housekeeper is his lover? It looks like he doesn't know.

P.S. That CGI KINO, THOUGH. HAHAHA. Nothing wrong with it; I find it cute, tbh.

5/5 <3

I don't think she went away at all. She most likely just stayed back while the other family members went to that other country she mentioned. They used doubles to fake the royal family's death, so not sure even the king died there.

The people most likely know who she is, but pretend not to. Hermes at the end said that everyone in the country were liars. He didn't have to say everyone, if it was just the couple. So the townspeople probably knew the truth but pretended not to, to be able to mantain the current system. The royal family is gone and the only member left doesn't have interest in the throne, not to mention she is in love with one of the leaders of the revolt; so killing her/making her identity known, would only work against them now. Also the guy that spoke was probably an actual friend of him.

Here we got an actual confirmation from the man himself at the end. What he said to Kino and how much he stressed the fact that he is happy now, was to make her understand that he is not crazy; but just pretending to be. Hence why Hermes said that everyone in the country is a liar, the couple and all the townspeople

An emotional episode. One think come to my mind is Megane from Re: Creators, "a lie of a lie" become true. In a twisted way they are happy in the country of liars. I think they pretend not to know the truth and keep live in the lie.

This episode was a pretty interesting and rather heart warming with bitter sweetness as well. Honestly I have no complaints so far. By the way, I think a lot of people (I don't know) are being comfortable with this new adaption despite not being like the original. Just feeling like it had gotten better after the 2nd episode which is a pretty good step up.

This episode felt like a real return to form for this series, after the last few weeks of iffy episodes. Kinda bittersweet really, with neither the housekeeper nor the hero knowing about the other's true state, yet still getting to be together anyway. The scene in the other country with the other Motorrad was interesting as well, even if it did kinda feel tacked on (other than using that woman as some kind of foreshadowing for the country of liars, I guess?). Still, an excellent episode, and more like this is exactly what I want to see from this show.

As someone who watched both the originals series and this new one, this might be my favorite story between both so far, and that's saying something. While I've still liked this new series, Kino's Journey has always shown the strongest for me in the episodes that aren't more actiony, and this episode shows why. Here's to more like it.

I wonder why he is doing this, is it because if the citizens knew his lover survived they'd kill her like they wanted to do to the royal family originally? But why can't he tell her?

Woah, I think this was one of the best episodes so far. So many plot twists that I kind of saw coming for the Country of Liars but that last one was rather shocking.

I kind of wanted to see what happened to the other motorad, but Kino's Journey always leaves these kind of things ambiguous.

Both parts of the episode were very Kino's Journey-ish, especially the second part. People doing irrational things only rational to themselves is a reoccurring theme throughout the series, and the second half really brought back that vibe. I was even surprised by the ending when the guy revealed that even he was lying.

He definitely know's she is his lover. But yeah I don't think that he knows that she knows that he is her lover. Plus she doesnt know that he knows she is his lover...confusing yes but I think we get it lol.
Or an easier way to explain it is they both know they are with the person they love, they just dont want to admit to one another that they are aware of the facts.

Wow, I really got emotional over the second half of this. In a way it's really quite sad both of them need to pretend they don't know, but since they're both happy, what's to complain about?

The moment she was confirmed to be who I thought she was, I knew the man had to know as well. It did not disappoint.

My major complaint as with the other episodes in the series is the music (the music itself is not bad but I personally find it really unfitting with the tone of the stories if that makes sense) but other than that I immensely enjoyed this episode. Aside from the music execution, these were stories chosen that made you think and two short stories that weren't so rushed that you could have time to think about what you watched. I loved the novels and the original and I think this is what people who've seen the prior loved about them in the first place.

It's not "better for everyone". Did you even listen to the guy's last words to Kino?

"I don't want to ruin anything anymore. Not my friend's way of life as a spy for the royal family. Not the feelings of those kind people who don't know anything. Not the new system we created for this country after the revolution. And... not my life with my lover who really wasn't just using me."

If he revealed the truth, several things could happen at once:

1. His friend was a spy for the royal family. Remember that it was only 5 years since the revolution; loyalists can try to restore the monarchy using the princess, which...
2. Could lead to civil war, destroying the new system of the country.
3. He would hurt the trust of the people who truly cared for and pitied him.
4. The princess' life could be targeted by the revolutionaries, destroying their life together.

He knows all of these and decided to sacrifice one thing: to be able to express his feelings openly to the woman he loves. And so he indirectly expresses his love by declaring that he would wait for her forever (and she for one, is flattered that he loved her so much he would not want another woman). Thus the subtitle of the episode "Waiting For You".

Two stories in one episode.

The first half was boring except for the motorrad story. I was wondering when we were going to see something happen until the motorrad started talking... it's a great personification. Living without a purpose can be worse than death.

Second half was quite good, especially when the girl started to talk about her story. However, I'm not quite sure if living a life of lies is really the key to happiness...

This is what I've been waiting for since the beginning of the series. No violence, lots of interactions with people, storybook-like narratives, and fairly straightforward short stories that have a layer or two of implicitness and complexity underneath. I liked the first story for how it relates back to Kino's history without really saying too much, while leaving the ending open to let you guess at what might happen to the motorrad in the museum. Plus, Kino's response to not take any action to either save or destroy the motorrad was excellent. I liked the second story for having a surprisingly complex relationship described within half an episode. Everyone was living a lie, and they were all aware of their lies and were content with it. Heck, even Kino played along.

Simple without having to overextend. Kino's Journey is fully capable of telling profound stories, but it's also capable of being quaint and cathartic in its other tales. Admittedly, I've taken a liking to the opening and ending themes, through they're still new to me, and the CGI is still distracting when a CGI Kino is standing next to another 2D character in the same frame. But, as far as establishing nice atmosphere and tone, I'm definitely a fan of this episode.

Tempting shattered distasteful guilt from a nonsense unraveling tragedy. Living in a hollow truth are easily painful. Judging by the acts of gratitude, not even a single outcast knows every what's greedy desire this country must obtain. In fact, the context invoke more hidden aspects about knowing their complexity between the depths of unfathomable aesthetic foreshadowing as it began to confirmed when one's chapter missed a scrap piece of paper it remains that your lifetime had just stopped as you never revealed that lies from a mistake of an outcast who got mischief pointing out towards as yourself.

The first part was okay I guess but the second part was really good imo probably the best part so far.

First, how come the people from that country didn't recognize that princess when she came back to that country "as a traveler"? It boggles me.

Second, does that "insane" guy knows that his housekeeper is his lover? It looks like he doesn't know.

Here we got an actual confirmation from the man himself at the end. What he said to Kino and how much he stressed the fact that he is happy now, was to make her understand that he is not crazy; but just pretending to be. Hence why Hermes said that everyone in the country is a liar, the couple and all the townspeople

Now everything's crystal clear to me. Thanks so much for answering my queries. I really really appreciate it. :)
