I liked the Opening and Ending since its lyrics are related to the main plot. I want to see how Gonzo/Toei will adapt this manga. |

| I was expecting worse animation (yeah...), some things still upset me a bit but I don't mind that much, actually. It's Toei's Saint Seiya typical quality, no more and no less. I liked some of the plot changes, they weren't too important and I think we'll have something to compensate the parts they changed, tbh. Loved Shoko interacting with her dad at the beginning. Well, I'm in. Gonna wait a bit to give a more detailed review. |
| It's OK, but I haven't seen such a cheaply animated first episode in a long time... Hope the quality improves at least on the DVD/BD. :/ And seeing Kuori's art in the form of the eyecatch and the ending is a painful reminder of how much prettier it could've been, even if it were as shoddily animated as what we've got. I like the voices, though, and while the animation of the opening and the ending are kinda meh, the songs themselves are nice. |

| Expected worst, but it wasn't much better. The characters (especially Dolphin Mii) felt incredibly empty, without personality. This is a first episode so that part can't be really defined but I expect more about it when the series progress. I am also waiting to see Mayura, she's like the best of Saintia Sho. |

I also felt that Mii seemed empty and also Saori wasn't introduced very well, she's just kinda there, but since they spent a lot of time focusing on Shoko's relationship with her dad, I'm expecting a lot of fillers scenes with the characters interacting more. This episode was mostly about Shoko getting in touch with all of the "Saint's universe", so I guess not focusing on some characters it's ok. If they give them some spotlights in the next episodes, I'm ok. I'd love to see more fillers scenes like the thing about Shoko's dad birthday! It felt a bit rushed but, as an introductory episode, I think it was nice. |

But I think/hope they're gonna do something to kinda "compensate" it. What I also missed was It might be a bit superficial but I like how Shoko's views on that change during the series, as she gets to know everyone better. But, well, that still can kinda happen in some other way. I was just shocked she didn't give a single opinion on that during the whole episode. |

| this feels like I sped up a magical girl anime or a shoujo drama. Reminds me of Oniisama e.. and Utena first episodes, but they did it much better. |

| I really loved this. I was so happy the entire episode. It's so cheesy and cute looking all the way from the three simultaneous cuts and the rose petal transitions. The art looks great and seeing characters like Miro so beautifully drawn was a treat. The way the attacks still come out in stills like the Ryuseiken had me giddy. I just miss the giant cloth boxes!! It's hilarious seeing the saints lug those things around. We did see one in front of Grandpa Kido's portrait but it seemed Kyoko and Mii got their cloths on without them. Admittedly, the episode would have been a confusing and rushed exposition dump if I hadn't already seen the majority of the original, but having seen it I understood everything and was able to focus on what was going on without being lost. ^_^ What it's doing is cool! It still feels like Saint Seiya but with a mix of 90's magical girl and a whole new plot direction. The original never did something like this with the main girl being targeted as the reincarnation of an evil God and having one of their friends turn into the host. It may turn into a similar arc to what we saw during Saint Seiya's silver saints arc but so far it's full of new ideas. I was honestly hoping for the first arc to be about Shoko trying to avoid being used as the host. I love how it's playing in the background of the original's beginning even before the original started. It appears that Sho starts before the Galaxian wars even began and that was the first arc of Saint Seiya. Further, it seems while the Santia's will be fighting their own war side to side with that one against Eris!!! Interesting. It's super interesting that the main character isn't a trained Saint either. ^_^ It seems the Eden sequence was a memory that Shoko had forgotten and thought of as a dream, I imagine we actually saw it through her perspective. I adore the screen time Miro is getting. He is wonderful with his concoction of brutality and kindness. Despite how little of a presence he had in the majority of what I watched he had two of the most wonderful scenes in the original Saint Seiya and my favorite line in the show. This time we saw him try and take Shoko out of her misery before Eris's army started to come after her but when he saw the strength of Kyoko he decided that rather than taking them out of their misery he'd allow them to fight fate itself. A clear scene that showed the duality of Miro very succinctly. He was able to nearly kill a child without hesitation but later he decided to put his trust in them to grow strong and fight their own battles. It appears Shoko was targeted as a kid by one of Eris' soldiers and why it hadn't happened again until now is a point of confusion but I'm sure it may be answered. I can see the original in Miro's accurate portrayal, the cheesy and contrived but ultimately charming nature of the anime, the cosmos of our strong-willed characters, and especially the villain we were introduced to! Dryad Ate whom I had initially thought to be akin to a 1D silver saint actually showed a ton of motive behind their actions. Her words on how Athena was a "bloodstained goddess" and that wars are also due to her and not this "evil" she seems to blame, as well as her line "the curtains will rise on the age that reeks of blood" made me think she'd be similar to It's like, Eris seems to be holding similar beliefs, or at least Ate did with her words on how it is humans fault for the war and killing and, for me to extrapolate, the evil that occurs in the world. Maybe I'm going too far but with that I was sold that our first enemies weren't going to be some 1D silver saints after all. I also adore how she objectifies Shoko's body because she literally is objectifying her, she is nothing but an object to Ate, a host for her master to use. She was written to show this quite literally and I liked that!!! Shoko is totally Seiya-esque. Warm-hearted, free-spirited, somewhat disciplined but lazy, thrill-seeking, and overzealous. I also like what is insinuated by Miro trying to kill her as a child. It means Saori presumably knows that she was supposed to be the host for Eris and still allowed her to live and looked over her. She is the kind goddess who Very good episode despite some exposition dumpy flaws that didn't actually affect me. It was a strong set up of the plot, where this was in the Saint Seiya universe, of the characters like Shoko and Kyoko and Saori and who they were, and the source of conflict. It was fast and would have been confusing if I didn't already know everything they were talking about, but it certainly set up a lot! No one can accuse Saintia Sho as doing too little. Sorry for the big post... I love Saint Seiya and this episode totally wowed me. Edit: After thinking more about the complaints in this thread I just wanted to say that I suppose the animation feels at home to me. It feels like a homage to the original! The stills all over the place and the way the attacks are done feel great even if it lacks the immense impact the original had. However, no one has been hit hard enough to really see the impact of the best Saint Seiya blows. Further, the start of the original Saint Seiya was also incredibly rushed feeling and confusing and although that definitely isn't intentional here, that kind of in your face, contrived nature has actually become a bit of a charm for me! That said, this could have been separated into 2 episodes, it felt like they wanted to set everything up and get it all going quickly! |

Even in the Dragon Ball Super there are so many of these inconsistencies. We know that in the manga Saori is aware that she's Athena from the beginning and saintia Sho is canon to the original manga. Threre is A LOT of differences between manga and anime. They can't change that in order to make sense with the old anime because this will cause serious continuity issues with Saintia Sho, Saori knowing she's Athena is important here. Saintia Sho is extremely consistent to the manga, expect to see many inconsistencies related to the old show. (also, don't blame Toei, Toriyama don't remember stuff about Dragon Ball, Kurumada does) |

| This is my first contact with Saintia Shou, but even though it was kind of awkward at first I really liked the start. I mean, the main threat seems to be Eris, and the sisters seem to bear a tragic fate. The OP and the ED are pretty cool too, and it seems that Aioria is going to play a role, I'm in. |

| Okay, I started watching this anime on 10th December, though I decided to wait a little more before posting something. I re-watched 1st episode once as well several minutes ago. What can I say? I did not have huge expectations, though the hype could be seen. I've been Saint Seiya's fan since 1999, so what would you expect, haha. I started my journey with "Saintia Sho" by reading manga first, so I can also have some view on how certain chapters were adapted. And I must say it was bad... First episode of this anime felt so much rushed. People not familiar with the manga or Saint Seiya's universe in general might have problems with getting on with everything. Rushing the story also had a negative influence on certain characters. Saori Kido was not properly introduced (people new to Saint Seiya might suffer from not knowing what happened when suddenly Shoko felt "bonds in Cosmo" with Saori), and Mii seemed to be empty supporting character without much significance apart from being a Saintia. Too bad we didn't see the scene in which Mii pushes Shoko back by only gazing at her. The whole scene with Shoko trying to sneak to Saori's room definitely deserved to appear here in my oppinion. On the other hand, I liked how they presented first scenes. True, there was no "pillow throwing" scene, yet we could feel that the time passed and that traumatic events from when Scorpio Milo saved Shoko and Kyoko were gone, and Shoko could live a normal life. About animation, it was not bad, but not very good either. It had its good moments, but it suffered also from too many static scenes. Maybe it was intentional? Dunno, but it looked strange for me: vivid action scene, and then poorly animated scene (by "poorly" I mean one frame modified by one small element, like moving only lips). Artstyle, different from the previous Saint Seiya's animes, was fine. Some scenes could feel awkward with characters' specific looking eyes or chins, but in general it was fine to watch. Though bear in mind that compared to the manga, the anime's artstyle is very weak and to be honest it's unfortunate that the anime has different artstyle than manga. It would be awesome Chimaki Kuori's beautiful pictures in this animation. Before judging this adaptation, I guess we need to wait for further episodes and see how are they going to look like. For now this anime is just fine to watch by a fan like me, but even if I had low expectations, I expected something better; something good enough to maybe encourage more people that are not familiar with Saint Seiya to get interested into it. Saintia Sho for now seems to be mostly entertaining for existing fans and I doubt it'll be a trigger to interest many new people into Saint Seiya. |

As I mentioned in my previous post in this thread, it was not bad, but it was quite far from being called as very good. Quite good moments were mixed with those that presented definitely lower quality, i.e. too much static scenes. Or... maybe you meant artstyle? Your post implies that animation looked "fine/average", but if you ask me it looks more as if you were talking about the artstyle. |

In fact, this is part of the manga's canon timeline (Just like Episode G). There are not inconsistences, is just that the original anime is different from the original manga and follows a different canon. |

| The only "bigger" inconsistence between anime and manga revealed as for today are hair colors of some characters. In example, Scorpio Milo has blonde hair in the manga, while in the anime his hair has been recolored to purple and remain like that to this day. I'm not surprised, though. People who only watched anime got used to those hair colors, but I can't lie - I had a little bit of hope that we will be able to see hair colors as they were seen in the manga. :P They fit better a lot of characters, i.e. Good Saga with blonde hair, and Evil Saga with jet-black hair. |
| I had low expectation but it turned out to be a bit better. The art and some music really felt like i'm watching the classic Saint Seiya, this feels closer to classic Saint Seiya than Omega/SoG/LC/LoS. It kinda feel rushed but i quite like things to be fast since i'm tired of slow-paced 1st episodes. Is it just me that feels that the characters are too long? Athena's eye in ED looked creepy. |

| Lol, it was just great. Of course, the plot is incredibly naive and shonen-ish, but I even almost burst into tears at how nostalgic and childish it is. I have only one question: show will always be the Cutie Honey x Maria-sama Mitteru x Dragon Ball mix? |

| Well, between the average or lesser animation (classic for a cheap Toei-produced ONA), the sometimes creepy eyes and the way the manga-like eyecatches put the ArakiProd-like style to shame, it was nothing to write about. 3/5 @kofmaster Thanks, I had read the article back then. But it was way before Okada decided to go for an entirely different direction. I'm not saying those manga are uninteresting or bad. Simply, the only thing Kurumada takes into account while writing is himself and the "Kuru-manga", making nothing else "cannon" (what a stupid internet debate, you're right). I guess it's better to think if a work respects the original continuity or doesn't it. |

| The animation is meh while the fights were very cliché, it was to be expected that Athena was useless but what the hell she did nothing but stand there and talk hahaha. What really worries me is that I'm not really interested in the deep relationship between sisters because of the little screen time between them. And what the hell that Eris's follower? She wanted Shoko's body to resurrect her Goddess but then she's ok with Kyouko intervening and being a replacement. It feels more like an excuse to force Shoko more in the plot. |

| decent start, I had the first 2-3 vols of this manga years ago and read through them, this was before I'd made much headway into the Saint Seiya series at all! I don't remember much about the manga from what I read back then. But now having seen more of Saint Seiya; doesn't this kind of retcon female saint's role in their society a bit? I guess the Saintias are something new and it wants to portray them as something more secret that just wasn't spoken about...but feels like it would work better as an alternate canon I.e. non-canon lol. I also got a lot of fanfic vibes lol, with the way it included Milo in the story haha, & with the heroes feeling a bit like potential self-inserts maybe! |
