Wasn't even a surprise when I found out she was the first subject for ReLife. From when I first saw her and when she started t have a relationship with Arata I was thinking that maybe shes also part of ReLife.

that's why they (ReLife supporters) pushed Arata & Chizuru together cause they are test subject & test subjects wont get memory's erased (if they play by the rules) like was explained before

I kinda did suspect Hishiro was subject no.001,the way the series progressed but either way it was a great series. I thought they wouldn't set up a 27/28 year old with a real high school girl, it would have set a bad example to sensitive viewers. From the start we knew Arata will be Hishiro's romantic interest ( even if they haven't hooked up yet in the series), but signs of the twist was written all over the series with hints.

Anyway I am glad Oga and Kariu became lovers I was rooting for them, I felt though this entire series focused more on Kariu and her dilemmas and problems. I liked how this series build romance from the ground up taking their time ( makes it natural unlike most ROM anime) and its humor is mostly funny for me. I don't want to read the manga but I really wanted to know how will he progress with the experiment, because the hook up between him and her will happen but its about when or how. Loved this festival episode and I am glad he never confessed yet because he thinks its point less as they will forget about him, now I can't wait for the specials or season 2 ( by the way Hishiro looked super great in that Yukata).

The manga is at 210 chapters and it is still on going, in my opinion the 4 episode OVA is nowhere enough to cover the other more-than-half that is left of the manga.
It is very likely to receive another season.

Man, great Episode and nice finale.
Now that hishiro being the 001 test subject revealed,I've a lot of questions in my mind and I don't know whether it will be clarified in kanketsu-hen (cause
its only got 4 Episodes)...hope it does.

Those sneaky ReLIFE bastards...

Okay! Well that explains a lot about Chizuru. I was starting to think that the twist is going to be that test subjects won't be erased from others' memories, but having two subjects in the same class actually makes sense. It also makes sense why those two specifically were chosen as 001 and 002.

In retrospect, Chizuru being a twenty-something year-old woman having to google "WHAT IS LOVE" baby don't hurt me is the saddest fucking thing ever. Just HOW asocial was she before the experiment?!

No surprises there, every little sign led to Hishiro being Subject No. 01. Though the scene with the revelation was made quite nicely. I wonder if the whole memory disappearing thing is true at all. How would they even achieve that? I guess I shouldn't ask things like that seeing how the pill itself isn't explained at all (for obvious reasons).

I wish the middle part of the anime wasn't all about Kariu, or at least it wasn't so bad... She is not the most likeable character, with pretty much all of her drama being centered around her own delusions of how others feel about her and such. Hopefully we will be finally done with her.
Other than that, the rest of the show was quite good, and I hope we will see Kaizaki and Hishiro getting together :)

7/10

By the way, to those of you who enjoyed the basic idea of this experiment and the story itself, I recommend you to play To the Moon and Finding Paradise (in that order). They are RPG Maker games that have a kind of similar theme, although based on a different concept. They are great stories.

THEY REVEALED IT AS HISHIRO. I MEAN, I WAS PRETTY SURE IT WOULD BE HER, BUT NOW IT'S CONFIRMED.

I enjoyed the anime and it had its fair share of laughs. I'm a bit disappointed by the whole concept of ReLife though. I feel like they didn't really explore it to the fullest. We don't ever really get to see the impact his ReLife is supposed to have in his adult life. I also felt like Kaizaki's character wasn't investigated enough, considering what he went through.

But alas, I guess for only having 13 episodes, it wasn't bad at all.

Well, it's over.

I didn't like the show.

I thought that the story to be focused more on Arata and his NEET problems but in the end 75% of the show was just teenage melodrama and silly comedy. The joke about failing at every test was terrible. Overrated. 4/10 for the anime.

this was the best episode for sure. It had such a real and warm feeling to it. I had a feeling earlier on in the show that someone else might be another ReLife patient but I dropped those thoughts after the first girl that worked as a supporter got revealed. Gotta say that Hishiro being a relife patient caught me completely off guard because of how unexperienced and "dumb" she acts, you would think that his behavior might be possible with a child but not with a grown up.

Kinda wish that the show would have emphasized more on Kaizaki in the middle of the show instead of leaning towards other characters that are completely uninteresting.

All in all it was a decent anime with no proper conclusion, but I do hope that the sequel (that sadly for everyone who has watched this anime when it aired) came out 2 years later will wrap up the story.

Well, this anime didn't sit well with me at first so I had to clearly put it on-hold. But it looks like I needed to finish it to see it for my self about it ratings. Don't get me wrong, the premise is quite unique but high school setups aren't though.

The first three episodes didn't really sit well with me. The Kairu x Tamara scene is quite okay. But at the time I saw Arata's past and his circumstances about his work, it clearly resonated the harsh workplace of the real world. I'm still in college but I already heard people about how they reminisce their school days instead.

I'll try to get back on this one if I already have work. Then, I'll decide my final ratings on it.

Amazing finale, the fact that many of the events from this show have stuck a chord and been with me for over three years is a clear indication of that!

About time Oga realised and those gold Kaizaki reactions were brilliant! Great to see some intriguing development to that ship though, so pure~

Some touching Hishiro x Kaizaki moments too, absolutely loved those and shed a tear too. “Kaizaki-san, you’re like fireworks” and “I’ll never forget you” plus some more of those deep-reality monologues, oh how heartrending!

Quite frankly, it wasn’t the best adaption per se but it was certainly wonderful nonetheless! I’m, quite admittedly, biased surely for its the story that I love so much nonetheless!

Anyway, some superb direction in Episode 5 and in this Finale Episode, in particular. New EDs nearly every episode was a really nice company too but sadly none of them really stood out and nor did the Op either. Usage of Soundtracks was iffy throughout to be honest but Hishiro’s reveal there was on point! His hiro, what a cutie she is though! Gosh, her Chibi form is super adorable too~

8.60/10!

A beautiful ep for the season finale!

For the first half, it's all about the confession of both Oga and Kariu to each other. Oga really did pick quite a bad place for the confession (the passerby are all looking in the background) but nevertheless, it's such a heart-melting scene. I just had a big grin throughout the first half of the ep seeing these 2 young couples realizing their love for each other. It only made it better that there's a compilation of pictures of Oga and Kariu dating together. They finally got the relationship they both deserved to have...

Now in the last half of the ep, it's about Kaizaki and Hishiro... I have always been suspecting Hishiro for the Number 1 ReLIFE subject, the hints dropped even in the first few eps have been too easy to pick. But anyway, man. Just as Hishiro have started to believe; that no matter how pointless loving someone is even though they themselves are about to part, as long as they can be happy together in the present, that's all that matters. Kaizaki is the total opposite, not wanting to love Hishiro knowing how pointless it is to do so. IF he did go forward and tried, Hishiro would no doubt accept it with her new perspective. But what happens...

Besides, only 1 term has passed, the year has only begun to bloom, it's still far from fully wilting down.

ReLIFE has such a great premise, it's something that people irl may be able to relate to, whether they're still in high school or if they're 27-year-olds person with or without a job. A story about regret, failure and reminiscence of a greater life, a fulfilling life, without any regrets and only joyful, memorable memories to hold on for the future. We may not be able to travel back in time or hell even take a pill and make you look 10 years younger (pharmaceutical companies will hate it!) But as long as you and I accept the past mistakes that have been committed, treasure the happy memories we held dear from the past and look onwards in life with the intent of shaping a brighter future for ourselves, we don't need to go back. Just go forward!

So did they just let the test subject 001 stay in ReLife mode, even after they ended up failing as a test subject? Lmao. Kinda weird to me if that's the case, which it seems to be, someone correct me if i'm wrong though. But that at least means we can see a possible reasonable/legal ship of Hishiro and Kaizaki!

Overall, I REALLY liked this anime. I will say that it's description of a story about a NEET who wants to redo his life is a bit, hmmm, misleading? I mean, it's accurate, but I was honestly expecting something more like Welcome to the NHK but in high school. Honestly though, what surprised me most about the series is that, despite not really being about that, I still enjoyed it immensely and found it surprisingly resonate (considering it wasn't about the NEET concept that much).

I thought that the exploration of concepts like the influence of one person on others was incredibly strong, beyond what I'd expect. It's the biggest reason why I kind of became okay with the lack of focus on Kaizaki's loserdom, because the way that his prior work experiences ended up affecting his judgement and thus the actions taken throughout the anime that related to other people at the high school was amazing. I loved seeing - in equal measure - lessons that could only be learned by being taken back to a high schooler's perspective (lesson's relating to the MC), lessons that could only be learned by reflecting on prior experiences and relating them the current situation (lessons relating to the MC, usually with them realizing they should have taken their own current advice in the past), and lessons where the MC's prior experienced helped other characters.

The series also did a great job of (sometimes subtly) talking themes like female empowerment, the sometimes unacceptable willingness to give into social standards that adult culture adopts, "social dumbness", and more. Even if some of these themes were not a huge focus, the sprinkling of them added a lot of authenticity to the story.

I also think ReLife specialized particularly in the use of multi-layered meaning in a lot of it's dialogue, specifically how it related to multiple characters in any one scene. What comes to mind the most is when Kaizaki is talking about how to help others and how hard it can be when you end up not knowing if you're overreaching or failing them (by reflecting on his senpai) to Hishiro, which in turn also tragically relates to Yoake (hence An touching him in support).

That being said, it's obviously a little consistent as some episodes are just ok. Also, the art and directing is nothing to write home about, and the soundtrack is mediocre to say the least - I think it was either especially bad in the first few episodes, or I just got somewhat used to it. But either way, it wasn't good, it felt out of place at times and too forward.

Nevertheless, I'd give ReLife a mid or high 8/10.

Interesting premise, show started out strong. Then it devolved into some shitty school romance with a terrible couple (red hair and smart guy). Everything about their "romantic" scenes were awful. Would have been an overall good show if red hair and her boring sports friend weren't in it.
And at that point I lost interest in the rest of the episode and how 2 grown adults think they're in love with a high school kid.

What a beautifully relatable anime. Some arcs felt a little flat but were made up by the strong cast that just keeps me wanting to see them more. This twist made me smile so much. I know this is going to end well (in the OVA at least) and for once didn't leave me with critical depression. Stong start, okay middle arc, and a strong finisher. My kind of slice of life. 9/10

This might be the first manga I get into and is worthy.

hishiro's chibi was so cute at the start hahahaha

oga's confession was so cute! so simple & sweet & SWIFT LOL it happened so quickly

RESPECT for kaizaki!! he knows his boundaries & he is very self-aware. that was still a very sweet moment they shared at the end of the festival :')

anyway the first episode was probably the best episode for me, i really liked the mysterious feel of it & the premise was strong & interesting but it quickly just fell flat. and focused on the wrong characters i mean it literally revolved around kariu LOL i just failed to see how her problems & drama helped kaizaki's reLIFE. yes, he helped her out etc but you mean to say he is re-living as a high school student to meddle into high school students' affairs????? yes i understood the overarching theme of influence & growth but they had like ONE episode (where kaizaki visited his senpai's grave) of him reflecting & showing growth i mean..... it just really didn't live up to the interesting premise. TLDR generic high school anime, it got boring way too much. hopefully the follow-up specials get better, they can do a lot with 4 more episodes it just needs that little bit more.

but thank goodness the characters were likeable & made up for it! their dynamics & interactions were all great!

but i’ll probably remember over and over again

Rewatching this 4 years later makes me love this anime even more! I actually forgot how good this was so i had to rewatch in order to watch the last OVAs.

Seeing Kariu and Ooga together is such a stress relief, especially when you have Chizuru x Arata and An x Ryou xD

Can't wait to see final the ending! What a solid 9/10.

Actually kinda funny to rewatch this now and finding that Ryou is not the only one who sleeps like that, four years ago i wouldn't have found that funny but now is just relatable xD

Haven’t read the manga as of yet, but I can tell they kind of chopped it up and placed parts in different places, I didn’t find the events that happened to flow smoothly between each other. As for the drama, I guess it was handled well? Slightly pathetic if you ask me, but still I understand where the characters are coming from, but it’s just slightly hard to really sympathize with them.

Anyway, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this much after the first episode. Seemed kind of boring and bland. Nevertheless I picked it up again after hearing some praise about it, raising my expectations just a bit. Now after actually finishing it, I gotta say, it wasn’t half bad. Things got CLOSE to being dark and gritty, and gave us some good insight concerning interfering with people’s lives, whether or not to do so even when you believe it will benefit them.

Looking forward to reading the manga, I feel like the best parts are about to come.

Nice ending to the season, and since there is the Kanketsu-hen portion too, don't have to worry about the open ending worry this time around. Nice seeing Kariu and Oga get together, and the reveal of Chizuru Hishiro being the first subject was good too, although it was foreshadowed quite well that it was her. Quite sad that both her and Kaizaki clearly like each other here but due to their fates of having their ReLIFE periods end soon, the ending doesn't seem like the happiest on paper.

Overall, it was a good season. Did feel too Kariu-centric I have to say, and the actual content lacks some depth due to some skipped material and the manga doing a better job with the inclusion of its reports too to convey growth over time. But overall, I still had fun watching this and can't wait to see the anime conclusion for ReLIFE too with Kanketsu-hen.

Would be a really good 8/10, if it was ur normal rom/com with some drama elements and Rena and Ooga were the main characters. I really liked it as such. But the main reason why I'll give it a good 7/10 is, that the title "ReLIFE" should be more like the synopsis is mentioning, about getting a chance to relive a very important moment to come back from the Neet life and overcome the struggles they kept for themselves for years. The whole project is even called ReLIFE in the anime, but it seems the anime focused more and more on Rena, her drama and love in the second half of the anime.

I was pretty sure that Chizuru was project #001 already, after Onoya was confirmed to be a supporter instead. Made kinda sense as well, cause she seems pretty much the opposite of Arata and they complement each other. It seems like Onoya was planing that to begin with, knowing their characteristics. Watching the sequel next, I hope it's focusing on the true project now instead of your typical school dramas.

I knew it!! Although I kind of doubted it at first, Hishiro checked many boxes on my imaginary theory list after I said that.

Honestly, I wish she wasn't subject 001, that way we would have gotten a bittersweet ending with many possibilities, but this way it can only go in 2 directions, either everyone forgets about those 2 (except Yoake and An), or they don't, but Hishiro and Kaizaki will probably get together in the end and remember everything.

Nevertheless, great anime and an amazing ending, putting the opening at the end, you know I ALWAYS love it (or well, at least 99% of the times!). The characters were great, besides Kariu of course, though after the 2nd drama, she started being nice. The opening was so good and Kaizaki is amazing.
However there were some very annoying scenes, like the the forceful drama episodes centered aroud Kariu which were too generic and the piano OST was used too many times in the first half, especially in tensed moments, however they stopped doing that later on so it wasn't a big problem in the end.

Also I loved that Ooga part so much, lol. It was so sudden.
