| The artstyle and animation are gorgeous. If anything, the show is a visual masterpiece. A lot of people are praising the OP and ED too, but imo only the ED was remarkable. What bugs me is the story. I see no reason why Mahiro got aged down along with the sex change, doesn't really make sense, and after finishing the episode made me feel like I was about to be put in a watchlist. Ecchi aside, I quite enjoy the sisterly moments between Mahiro and Mihari. I hope as the show progresses it focus more on the cute aspect and less on the fanservice... it's supposed to be a cgdct after all! Other comments in the forum say the manga is not as fanservicey so I might switch up eventually, but for now I'll wait and see. PS: Probably unintentional from the author's part, but Mahiro comes off as a total egg. That scene where she first tries on the white dress? She looked so happy even I started feeling happy for her. |

| I've read through the manga but feel disappointed in the first episode. I probably haven't gotten over the art style and having the manga spoil everything adds to that. (I don't normally read much manga, lol) I got a real unpopular opinion though: Everyone's talking about loli fanservice... what loli fanservice? Like, I'll concede the ED is straight on the nose about it, but when you take that away, what even is there? The art style is so inoffensive for any of the naked scenes that the sex appeal feels like it would only matter to those who have never seen a naked character before in any animation medium. Any anime that's ever fit in a Twister trope with underage characters (Kobayashi/Eromanga Sensei/etc.) probably has more loli fan service in that one scene than this whole episode put together. Even though the Twister trope is already beating a dead horse when it comes to fanservice it still tops this in the fanservice department. I don't mean to sound like a connoisseur over this subject matter, but seeing people talk about how the loli fanservice is going to make people so mad has me thinking we're in the company of a bunch of 10 year olds who just recently bypassed the parental safety controls on their computers, lol. Even the ED's fanservice feels watered down by the art style as if intentionally by design, but I guess that's just my opinion. I'm just happy the fan service is coming off weak than strong for me as it's the other qualities of this anime that has my interest. Also, I think it's sweet this anime has appeal within the entire spectrum of trans-accepting to trans non-accepting people. I mean, not everyone in either camp is going to like this show obviously, but it's funny how either side will act like this anime's very existence is a sleight against the other side, yet people from both sides have said many a good thing about this anime already. That's wholesome as I see it and I'll totally be sticking around to see the rest of this anime for sure. I'm in it because I like the source material and the characters and I'm sure my 3/5 score will go up when more of the other characters debut. |

| The fanservice in the anime is way more extreme than it was in the manga, to the point that I would say it almost changes the genre to ecchi. I personally don't really care either way, as long as it doesn't distract from the stuff that was good in the manga. But, the fanservice is going to make it harder to recommend to people and I can't really say it adds to the show, so overall I'm not too impressed with that direction. However, the animation is incredible and the way they use color is great. The character designs are super cute and bright, so the fact that they look muted/stifled in the shady room really makes it feel more natural for them to be outside, which is what I think the animators were going for. As for people talking about whether or not the show is trans-positive, transphobic, unrelated, etc.: my take is that while it is true that Mihari forces Mahiro to have a sex change and this seems pretty questionable, I think that the premise should not be taken so literally. Obviously in real life it would be terrible to secretly drug somebody and force their sex change, but it's not supposed to be taken so seriously. Overall the initial premise is not the focus of the show as much as it is about Mahiro being happier as a girl. I think it's easy for this show to be viewed as a self-insert for somebody who wishes to relive their middle school years as their preferred gender. If you don't see it this way then that's also a valid interpretation but I would understand if you struggle to see the appeal of the show beyond what enjoyment you may find in the animation or fanservice. edit: also agree with the person above that the fanservice is not actually that extreme. Nudity on its own doesn't need to be seen as sexual, although I think it's still clear that that's probably the intent, and most people watching those scenes think of it as such. |

| MAL score rate revealed. Well, actually I knew it. A week ago I watched the first episode and instantly set it to 10/10. But I knew it that it would be 6.x. It's a true masterpiece. An anime of the centuries. I hate to say this... but I believe the true beauty of the anime can only be understood by a native Japanese like me, or people who's not from Japan but really cultured. They don't understand the artistic part of the work for now. That's okay. I guarantee you, they will see the value of the anime in 100 years, when the world fully understood the country. |

After only 1 episode, the amount of hate this anime gets is pretty undeserved, like people really complain about the MC's sister, who actually does a LOT to help her brother? Mahiro is a very relatable protagonist who is a shut-in and suffers from existential crisis, due to his transformation into a girl at middle-school age, he's forced to move out of his comfort-zone. His room is high-detailed, the animation is fluid and the art itself is gorgous, visually almost perfect. People call this pedophillic because the average weeb has nowadays unnecassrily strict morals and they often talk about nothing but morals when such a show like Onimai faces controversy. They're right about that episode 1 contained many nude scenes but what is the message of these scenes? Explore your own body, live healthily and treat yourself better. These are the main reasons that made me like this show and I'm looking forward to the next episode on a weekly basis. |

| @felixsifuri (ping cause mal app doesn't allow me to quote, for some reason) Since the initial premise is that Mahiro was converted thanks to a drug made through "science" (Mihari belongs to a university laboratory) and not from occultisms or grimoires, it seems imprecise that it is called "magic". It's not that it really changes the concept of the anime much, it's just the synopsis of the anime. I just think the database is imprecise for this case. |

| some lovely animation and camera angles here. not just on "that" sense, but also on serious sense. as for the story itself: if my sister had done that to me, I don't care if she earns all the money for the family; I'm going to give her a big slap, then I'm going to take all her money and make her work in that sense. I don't care if the "intention" is "good". also Onii-chan needs to learn to lock his door. Japan problem. |

Nothing out of the norm but like if anything the MC looking like a loli is a MASSIVE turn off (Unless you're into that thing...you do you) I can handle STRANGE but this is disturbing, it don't feel right one bit watching this MC half naked and for laughs is talking about lewd things such of jacking off as a "girl" is a much better experience. Anyways have fun watching this Y'all, good luck escaping the cringe reactions and disgust people will give to those who are going to watch this, as if the anime fandom isn't already cringy and strange in itself.... but I'm apart of it! |

| Cute girls, plenty of fanservice and touching moments, well I guess this is already my anime of the season, but what really amazed me was the CGI, it looks great. I had a really good time watching the show. |
| I was really surprised to see Studio Bind was behind this, and wow it really shows because it looks amazing, the OP and ED visuals are prime examples, and seems they spared no expense on the songs either because they are bops for sure. Now as for the show itself, I like it, it definitely has CGDCT vibes even with the genderbend aspect, Mahiro seemed to take the change really well which might be because of the types of games he’s into or might be because of other reasons, but I did really enjoy the moments of him getting used to his body and the bits with Mihari were good. And I was already thinking this but the end of the episode made it clear, Mihari is trying to “rehabilitate” her brother by turning him into a girl, but I’m not sure why she couldn’t just do that with him being a guy, I think in the end she’s gonna end up with a little sister instead of a rehabilitated brother lol. But I guess we wouldn’t have this funny genderbend story without it, and of course the fanservice too lol. But despite my issues with the plot I think I’m gonna look forward to this for the art and animation alone, of course it’s just a fun show too. |

| first time a Nekotoufu manga is getting a adaptation, I was interested in how his manga designs work in anime, I originally want his first adaptation to be Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha Vivid Life. But Onii-chan wa Oshimai anime is pretty solid. I have read the manga up to the most recent chapter, and I even followed Nekotoufu on Pixiv, so that I could read the manga chapters that are directly uploaded by him. |
| I still have my reservations about this, but I'm not gonna lie, I thought it'd be worse than this. There's some fun to be had here, and I'd imagine it's going to be quite wholesome, just masked with a weirder premise. Bind did a good job with the colour palette and animation, as expected. |
