I hate how Overlord has become a simple "let's show how weak and helpless humans are"-show. Ains is a human originally, so I'd have preferred him to be more merciful. And even if he went full-evil, it's boring how weak humans are. Like, let them be powerful enough to put up a battle that's worth winning, right?

Its a good show. I didnt even watch it until the anime season it was released in was over and I was looking for shows to check out. Couple of eps in I just binged it. Watching it ever since. Anyway nice to meet you. Enjoy your anime :)

You could probably switch to it, but there is a lot of filler in between which isint long. 6 eps across two stories. Chruncy refer to it as series 34 and 36. No idea why there nomenclature for the two three parters but I would recommend watching them before going into season 2 properly. They really help develop the main characters through shared experience and growing knowledge

I cant argue with that justification as your spot on. Comparing them side by side Frieren is a master piece in story telling, and Hametsu no Oukoku was probably written by Ai by typing into chat gtp 'witch, bad, good, revenge, human witch'. The two dont compare at all. Its why I like to mix it a little as both contain witches and magic, by sticking something imbetween them to watch. I like Hametsu no Oukoku, it seems to be going somewhere but its quality is subpar to other magic shows this season.

Btw, I dont know if you watch it but in a simler gerne of witches and magic Mahoutsukai no Yome 2 Part 2 is proper kicking of this season

Ah hahaha, pick your daily anime watching carefully. I watched Hametsu no Oukoku after watching Goblin Slayer, so I already knew it wasnt going to be as wild. It allowed me to appreciate the slowed down and chilled out moments of this slow burning world just as Frieren has a similar vibe to this one. Not doing so is like having two meals of the same style one after the other.
