| Tbh, I think this is a fairly interesting anime and start so far, with the setting and Jusetsu. Despite her elegance, she also has some goofy moments like talking while eating. One of the most interesting part of this episode is seeing Jusetsu's special talent, that seems to be unique to her. Another girl introduced into this episode is Jiujiu although I find her presence overshadowed by Jusetsu. Good soundtrack for the anime imo, for managing to capture the mysterious mood. |

| Queen Bee's OP is such a trip. The Raven Consort that is the court lady (Lu Shouxue) who has special treatment due to her mysterious arts staying at Ye Ming Palace, and both the emperor Xia Gaojun and his aide Wei Ming attempt to get close to it to request help to solve the case of the jade earring, but it ended booting them off out of the place. The only way is to bribe her through her favourite food to get answers out, and the first case here is to save a ghost that has been treated awfully in the palace, driven to her death. Shouxue helping out one of the Imperial Table Office workers (Jiu-Jiu) to understand the current situation outside of the palace and also to get information on the ghost that Gaojun was looking for. Even worse, the internal palace politics of finding the Empress Dowager guilty of her crimes of leading Gaojun's mother to death, he will do it slowly but surely. For now, settle and strap in for the amount of drama this would get, deep into Chinese lore. |

| Mysterious! I thought this'd be set in the Heian period or something rather than China. A "Luan dynasty" doesn't seem to have ever existed, so there shouldn't be much historical background to be aware of. The one thing I hope doesn't happen is a romance between the MC and the emperor - he seems like a pretty boring guy. |
| Animation, direction, and storyboarding are all bland. Pacing is too fast. So far I'm getting many bad vibes from this. |

| Chinese period dramas are always interesting, and here's an anime in that type of setting. Ryuu's a pretty intriguing character as well. I'm quite disconnected with Chinese historical terms, so hopefully I can keep up. |

| Ehhh kinda weird honestly but I'm not hating it. I'm unfamiliar with chinese historical terms so I had to look some things up. Aojo said: Are the woman that supposedly hangs herself and the emperor's mother two different characters? I got the impression the first one did so because she poisoned something/someone. Yes they are completely different characters, the one that hangs herself is a lady who died way long ago and she is supposedly (supposedly because they're probably just rumors as they have said and maybe she was framed) the one who poisons. Meanwhile the current emperor's mother was killed by that old granny (empress dowager), the one at the beginning + in the flashback. |

| great start, i already love this! probably the only thing i'm not too keen about is possibly some kind of romance between the emperor and shouxue, feels like the story can survive without these guys having to get paired up. well i guess we'll wait n see what happens cliffhanger aaaaaaaa , seems like shouxue is(was?) part of the luan dynasty and survived the massacre |

| The first half was kind of predictable but it got better in the second half. Solid first episode, I'll give it a 7.5/10. Always happy to see more historical anime, especially new series |

| A historical fantasy with a little mix of mystery in China... sign me up. The setting has already hooked me in but the reveal at the end makes even more interesting. おぬし (Onushi) is a very archaic way of calling out to someone. First time I heard someone use that was Shinobu from the Monogatari series. Even Jiujiu called her out on the way she speaks. It fits her character though. |

| Original setting and plot. Nice to have something different to watch. Much more interesting than your average fantasy anime. |
| I'm not sure about this one yet. I like the premise for sure. You could say the direction sets a calm tone matching the setting. I for one think it's a bit too dull and unremarkable. |

| Yea I can tell this will easily be my anime of the season. It’s technically not shoujo since it’s a LN, but still aimed at the female demographic and has all the makings of a good shoujo-esque story. Shouxue is adorable, but the air of mystery about her really makes you want to stay tuned and find out more about her and her powers. Jiu-Jiu seems like she’ll be a really fun side character and a great future friend for Shouxue who’s basically been locked up in the palace forever. Emperor seems like a genuinely kind and compassionate person who wants to do the right thing. The art style is beautiful and has that traditional shoujo flair. It’s cool seeing a traditional Chinese setting, something we don’t get a lot in anime. |

| Is it definitely female-targeted? The female characters seem to be much more elaborate in appearance than the male ones. nagars said: why names in subtitles and names in audio don't match? Because the subtitles are based on the Chinese reading of Chinese names, while the VAs used the Japanese reading of Chinese names. This happens because Chinese and Japanese use almost the same characters. |

| Great first episode! I like the story so much! As I predicted before 13 episodes is enough, two chapters for one episode = 26 chapters. There are 27 chapters in the novel, so I think they fit 3 chapters in the final episode. |

| Didn't like the OP, it doesn't fit a historical anime. The fact that the Raven Consort was persuaded to talk with some bao zi is absurd. That ending was kinda whack, not the plot twist, but how it was found. |

| The pacing feels a little strange and the mannerisms are a little different, but I can tell this will be one of my favourite animes this season. All the seiyuus are all really refreshing. Seems like Shouxue/Ryuu will be the quiet, really intelligent for her own good type. Anyways, the episode went by too quickly. We got an info dump, but at the same time not much too talk about. |

Roberuto atleast sounds like Robert and it's not very hard to understand that. But hearing "Ryuu Jusetsu" when you read "Liu Shouxue" is pretty much a different case. I had a hard time due to this while watching Kingdom and its more of a personal preference. Looks like you got offended by that for some reason. |

| I'm baffled at how good this is and how interesting I found this. The OP is such a banger. I watched Spy x family's new ep before watching this and I like this OP more than spy x family's. The premise is simple but very interesting. The women in this anime are prettier than 90% of the women I see in other animes. Shouxue is my new waifu. I mean she looks so pretty even without make up😭 The reality in their times is pretty harsh. Killing someone and blaming others for it etc. Pretty infuriating, that's power abuse at it's worst. I'm impressed the emperor didn't try to straight away murder that lady who killed his mother. Overall, an excellent episode. I'm really looking forward to the next episode. 5/5.
