Disliking something, criticising it for its actual faults and even missing some subtle ideas is OK is my book.

Maliciously trashing something for the wrong reasons (yes, there could be right reasons), entirely missing its point or comparing it to absurdly different show will not win any points while arguing me...not that I will explode or anything, just will stop take the discussion seriously.

It really depends on what's on the argument. If someone say they don't like SNK because it is too much intense or they don't like epic, I'll just ignore it, because it's their taste (despite having no idea why they wouldn't like it since it's the best sign of quality in entertainment for me).

However, when someone say something like "it isn't good written" I definitely get a bit triggered because it's objectively incorret. Usually I just give a small response, giving a few examples why it is a false and dumb claim and then move on.

But I think the time I got most triggered was when someone wanted to defend the idea that Shingeki no Kyojin had the same quality for Kimestu no Yaiba in terms of tension. While Shingeki no Kyojin is my favorite show because it perfectly creates tension around all the seasons, one of the main reasons I don't like Kimetsu no Yaiba is the complete lack of tension and consequences. I've tried to reason with the dude, showing that it was a objectively absurd idea, but his wishful thinking was so strong it was impossible to keep rational discussion. Keeping answering him would only cause damage to my brain cells, so I decided to ignore him.

Depends on how energetic I feel and what the criticism is. I'll either mock the person if the criticism is stupid enough, write out my own explanation if I think the criticism isn't offensively dumb and see enough people saying it in one thread, or I'll just decide to not waste the time because I don't feel up for it.

I do think that if you post something that it's fair to expect it to be challenged, though. Discussion is fair game as well as being the entire point of a discussion board, rather than a bunch of people awkwardly shouting into a void and not conversing with each other because opinions are subjective. People will (usually purposefully) try to frame that as being incapable of withstanding criticism, which irritates me. It's the opposite; everything is up for discussion. Opinions aren't immune from criticism either.

I feel like dying inside.

No, seriously, if you're so emotionally-tied to an anime series that any criticism of it triggers you, then perhaps it's time for a divorce.

I start to worry about the person's mental health.
it's usually a very sad sight with always the same arguments.

my favourite anime is Hunter x Hunter. It gets bashed online on a daily basis, why should I care at this point?
No anime is non-canon. Non-canon is canon, but on a different world line.

I don't really take it seriously to be honest, heck there may be some times that I'd agree to them to a certain extent that should be reasonable on their standpoint or at least what the community feels about my favorite anime. So yeah, pretty much neutral here.

For me, I could care less. We all have different tastes and for me, I never try to put anyone's favorite anime down. We all have our own opinions.

Whenever I read some misinformed statement from a certain negative review, I always laugh at how horrible their takes are.

I care, but not always enough to write a wall of text in order to dismantle the points and arguing with someone who's holding ridiculously extreme takes is usually fruitless anyway.

Since my favorite anime is Detective Conan, It's pretty rare for that to happen, You either didn't watch it cuz it's 900 episodes or watched it and probably liked it since you watched 900 episodes of it. Most people's opinion on DC is "Maybe I'll watch it in the future".

I don't come across many people who think it's shit, when I do I go like "huh" and move on. Everyone has different taste so there's no reason to speak to that person or anything, it's not like talking to that person will change their perspective about the show anyways.

I’ll typcially ignore it. I mean, I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Anime is subjective, what I like may not be to the like of someone else, and that’s fine. It is not going to affect my level of enjoyment or investment.

That poison in their drink? That is just a huge coincidence.

Sometimes people have really good arguments in favour or against any anime.
If you want to get behind good storytelling it's valuable to explore something like that.
Although people might just dislike your favourite anime for any number of weird reasons that you can't get behind at all

Hasn't happened too often, but I try to ask what it was they didn't like about it. I'm not gonna hard debate over it to try and change their opinion or anything, but I think it's interesting to gain a new perspective on something that I have an overwhelming positive response to.

If their perspective on it is just saying it's trash and they refuse to say why they think so, then my response is to go blind from how far back my eyes rolled into my head.

I get insulted, then I get over it.

They only deprecate it if they didn't understand the ending... or dropped it before the plot ACTUALLY took place. Unlike most anime, Island develops its plot pretty late and nothing is explained until you actually complete it. Dropping it at any episode earlier than 9 then saying that the plot is generic is what we call "judging the book by its cover."

Not gonna lie, I do feel a little sad when omeone criticizes my favourite anime, but not to the point that I'll start verbally abusing them. But if their take is really ridiculous, I'll properly elaborate to them why I think they are being ridiculous.
