I feel like they should have showed Senku's alone story a bit before, but in this case they kind of fixed it that way to show that he is a person who has a plan for everything using science, even the threat of death. But overall good episode

Great episode but i think i preferred more the 2nd half because finally a backstory of our little genius xD

But to be honest i never expected him to get the fatal blow, i thought that someone would have saved him.

The first half doesn't make much sense, really. First, after Tsukasa finished killing Senku, he said that they should properly say their goodbyes, therefore he'd let them go with Senku's corpse, yet Taiju started some shenanigan right after as if Tsukasa was going to kill them & not let them take Senku's corpse. Second, the rock throw Taiju did, the goddamn rock was in the air for an awfully nonsensical amount of time, whilst it was supposed to get dropped the second it was thrown. It was cool to see how Senku lived the 6 months before Taiju got revived. However, it was pretty bold of him to assume that he's the first one on the planet to get out of that state.

For a backstory episode it was pretty amusing to say the least. So far best episode in my opinion.

Is it safe to asume those monkeys in this episode is the Japanese macaque (Macaca fuscata)?
By the looks of it, they probably are.

If without jokes, then I did not quite understand what they wanted to say. Do they think that without science, women and color people do not have equal powers with men and whites? Pretty weird social messege.

the talking points in todays political climate are
women are weaker (physically) and minorities like black people have low IQ
so science will change that like with gene/genome editing like CRISPR perhaps? thats in the future though

I meant that the quote seems to suggest that without the intervention of science (that is, artificial regulators), between genders and races there is no natural equality, especially biological. Yes, gender, ethnicity, race and much more make certain differences in people, but to assume that it is so strong that people could not achieve equal results on their own?

Ya'll we got a sneak peak of Tsukasa's cutie pie loli sister.

Even though we got a sneak peak of best girl last episode, she didn't show up yet. She'll definitely be in the next episode. I can't wait to see her again.

Those monkeys were my favorite in the manga. Their lines were funnier in the manga too but the Anime did them justice. They were snarky and savage but ultimately shookt by their new neighbor.

Well, your statement is weirdly too specific for the message. Authors' point is "With science, even those people, who aren't physically strong, can fight against people who have a stronger physical ability. (As they portray in the show that Senku, who is not that physically strong, can fight against Tsukasa, who is very strong.) Also, this is unrelated to racism or sexism because science can't deal with people's pov, right? I mean, Science is very different from Social Studies. So, please don't pile everything from different subject together.

I understand what they want to say. But comparing this with gender or racial equality creates an unintentional message that without the help of science, women and people of color are much weaker or less smart than white men. Especially when it says feminine Yuzuriha during the confrontation with stereotypically masculine Tsukasa.

So, I doubt very much that the author is a sexist or racist, but in my opinion, this context makes the message "science equalizes the possibilities of people" rather ambiguous.

It has been pretty good so far. The setting and main character are great, though I feel like what's holding this back is the rest of the cast. Other characters bar Senku look pretty BS to me. Tsukasa is way too OP as a villain and there's no explanation for an ordinary high schooler to be that invincible.

Though I'm sure more characters will be introduced so hopefully this point will get better. It's a 8/10 so for. Great idea, setting and world, with an interesting protagonist.

Seeing Taiju, and Yuzuriha, crying for the death of his best friend, was really sad. But, although Senku's situation seemed inevitable, both did not give up, especially Taiju, who knows Senku better than anyone. In the end, he and Yuzuriha came up with the answer of how to save Senku. There is always a plan B, well thought out Senku. That left me in Shock.

When Senku stopped being stone, he did it on his own, without help, compared to Taiju who did it with the help of the bat's liquid from the cave. How could that be possible? Willpower?.

Ps: The reactions of the monkeys were very funny. LOL.

Senkuu was murdered by Tsukasa, Taiju arrived and knelt next to his body, suddenly, he grabbed a giant rock and threw it to the air while Yuzuriha took the gunpowder and threw it to Tsukasa, it caused an explosion that they used to escape with Senkuu’s body. They ran and decided to stop, while trying to revive Senkuu, Taiju discovered that he had a stone piece in his neck and, along with Yuzuriha, decided to use the miraculous water on it. Senkuu was remembering when he woke up after petrification, created fire, stone weapons, clothes and a refuge.

It was bullshit the cliffhanger that they left last episode, we knew we’ll survive, he hasn’t woken up, but everything is gonna be ok. A look to that time when Senkuu woke up and lived alone was funny.

This far, it looks like the show is gonna be full of this kind of things, Taiju used the power of love, hahahaha. Yuzuriha, who knows, maybe even there isn't necessary an explanation. This show sometimes reminds me of Fairy Tail.

I liked the setup for Senku's revival; I think that it was done in a way that matches his character and not using the easy writing method of relying on plot armour.

Senku's ideals and goals are conveyed expertly through this flashback.

We don't know what kind of people we truly are until the moment before our deaths.
As death comes to embrace you, you will realise what you are.
That's what death is, don't you think?

It was basically hinted that Senku revert to flesh due to Nitric Acid just like Taiju did.
Him wishing to depitrifie have nothing to do with 'willpower' which is utter useless in the process and his lines was just there to add drama.

Taiju's dramatic run, scene full of tension finished with silence... and then here here comes the opening with "OHAIO SEKAI GOOD MORNING WORLD". xD The mood was quite ruined, haha.

Anyway, scene with Taiju throwing a rock and Yuzuriha throwing a pot with black powder looked and felt great. I was curious how it's gonna be adapted into anime and I was not disappointed. Dynamic scene painted in beautiful art, animation and sound.

Senkuu's flashbacks about his depetrification and first days after it looked great, however in the manga it was funnier to be honest with more gags and without serious mood. I guess the music is in fault. While it was very good, it made too much of an epic mood with all this seriousness. I would leave it until last scenes when Senkuu accomplished what he wanted to do and them monkeys were shocked. Oh, about monkeys, that's how I exactly remember them from the manga. Their texts and gags were priceless. ;D

The usage of sound and music was remarkable as well. Music, despite the beginning scenes after Senkuu freeing himself from petrified state, was awesome and sounds related to i.e. bashing stones were really good and realistic.

Ok... I'm feeling very slow at this but how does using the revival fluid actually help Senku? He was alive when he had that small stone on the back of his neck. I know he's trying to deliberately get Tsukasa to attack his neck but was Senku actually dead? Or was he paralyzed from that attack? 'cause if he was just paralyzed then I guess that makes sense but if Senku actually died from that attack, then I don't really understand the logic (reviving him with revival fluid on his neck to "repair").

This is the worst anime I've ever seen with such a high rating. Characters are one dimensional, even the dumb plot line is full with plot holes. Senku knew that Tsukasa was following him but decided to spread the fire even more and made a really dumb mistake with gunpowder. A total dumbass Ooki was able to figure out what to do anyway, at least I hoped he never proposed Ogawa because they weren't able to restore humanity.

Well, you're watching the worst part of this anime. Honestly as a manga reader, the introductory arc is by far the worst one. I was about to drop the manga around where the anime is now, because it was very boring. However then they introduced a lot of characters that were actually really interesting and well written, turned up the comedy by a lot and finally made use of Senkuu's full potential as the main protagonist.

Now, the manga is one of my favourite currently running manga. If you still don't like it in 2 or 3 episodes, you should probably drop it. The second arc really is far better than the first one and I'm guessing the anime has such a high rating because of manga readers that know what comes after the first arc.

Honestly, I think every single manga reader agrees that it gets far better after the first arc. I've yet to see a single manga reader who thinks otherwise. So unlike many other manga where the fanbase is divided on whether a series gets better or worse, I can't think of any other case where the whole fanbase actually has the same opinion.

I love seeing how Senku was revived and his process of trial and error. A true man of science. I love how his first instinct though is to brute force things though. A man of science maybe, but HUMAN to the core.

Okay these predictions / character readings are getting kind of ridiculous with that boulder throw. And of course the massive explosion that killed no one, or even blew them off the mountain. Like obviously this anime isn't realistic, but once you cross a certain line everything loses meaning because anything can happen. Then of course Senkuu gets revived, did anyone really expect him not to? They repair his neck by removing the small piece of stone that was still remaining on it, kind of an interesting gimmick I guess. I wonder if they'll somehow figure out how to use the stone + juice formula to heal from scratch at some point. Then we get a flashback that shows Senkuu's point of view when he first broke out. Not the best episode to be honest.

I'm sorry but...there's a lot of cringe moments for me watching this series. And by a lot I mean pretty much every moment.

I can't quite point my finger on what about it that makes me feel like I'm forcing myself to keep watching, but I'm sure it definitely has to do with how it incorporates comedy in a very serious situation...making it very hard to take anything seriously at all even when I'm supposed to. I know I'm not supposed to take it seriously, and yes, the monkey moments did make me laugh. An example of what I mean exactly would be when Tsukasa says to Senku "I know you aren't lying because you would never lie because you're a man of science" or something along those lines. They literally JUST MET and he knows Senku hm that's great and all but what if he actually told you a lie and you're screwed on this planet alone.

While I appreciated them showing Senku's past(finally... some characterization) and I appreciate that there are finally scientists in anime who are represented as human beings with something called morals and decency..I don't really care for the plot because it seems to be going nowhere. And Senku's past didn't really contribute too much either in my opinion like it just solidified what the show wants us to know about him. Like wow ok guess his genius mind is justified because of his passion, brilliant mind, determination and the resources he had. Couldn't have guessed that.

Even when the squad left to go make gunpowder like wow okay that's exciting....anew weapon unlocked. Let's quickly try to one up Tsukasa, leave the murderer alone as he continues to murder people and just come back and threaten him sounds like a great plan. Tsukasa also conveniently knows EXACTLY what the three were up to, and word for word said they were going to make weapons of science. I literally laughed at that scene because it was so ridiculous to me.
