maybe I will feel different if I ever get to read the manga but looking at this purely on the anime without any prior knowledge of the manga this was a fantastic anime to watch. Full of tension drama and a decent (albeit a tad obvious) plot twist at the end. Music was also on point in some of the scenes and really gave me goosebumps at times.

I can only hope that we get a second season to pick up where this leaves off as there are so many unanswered questions and possibilities. But I definitely will try and pick the manga up at some point to find out. 9/10 for me.

Nice final! Isabella getting background of her own was nice, "I am your father, wait no, mother, thats it" was a surprise.

Also they did what I said some episodes before and utilized the power of throwing a rope over the cliff -shoutout to the bitchboi who thinks throwing is a myth

The main part was rather weak though, sort of like Zankyo no terror it had a good start, bad main part, but a good ending again.

So I rate this with a 7, thats maybe even too high, considering the derp faces it would deserve a 6.
As far as being a super elitist 3 goes, I hope the ratings go down now, because its ridiculous how high this is.

PS: long hair isabella was nice, makes her look more like 30~ instead of 40

PPS: I reconsidered and gave it a 6, it was really boring except for 2 or 3 episodes.

this episode was INTENSE - so many feelings but i loved it so much !!! honestly didn't even see the whole ray being isabella's child thing coming , like that was totally totally unexpected to me holy smokes

i really like isabella now though, i'm glad the anime included a backstory of her

also so hyped for season 2 i got so excited when i saw that this anime is continuing ,, hopefully i'll be able to avoid spoilers for a year now lmao

strong 9/10 because this was a good setup for the Main plot of the story now

I there was so much EXPOSED in this episode that's now just left without explanation. Plus the fact that they also managed to lay out the goal for the future season which is to return to the plant to get the rest of the kids. Low key though I thought Isabella (mom) was about to yolo off the side of the wall and kill herself. But no they actually had a well-written outcome for her character. I can't wait for season two.

Despite the show being so exciting, I'm not surprised at how everything turned out to be. No, I didn't predict certain revelations or specifics of the escape, but I can't say I was awed or something.

Still, pretty enjoyable anime, I liked the characters, the whole story seems to be only touched upon. I'd like to see more, or probably will read the manga.

Yeah, me too. I was sure she will jump and kill herself but no. And actually, I have some kind of compassion for her now after they showed us her perspective. I'm really hoping for more (even more. after they left us wit so much unanswered questions.

Great finale.

The direction and presentation for the entire escape was top notch and damn the soundtrack and sound direction are absolutely fantastic. They really nailed that department. xD

Isabella with her hair down is quite the looker. XD
Gotta admit that I felt a little bad at the end for her, but I'm glad she wished the children well in the end. She did really care about them but she just couldn't do anything to avoid their inevitable fate.

Question to the manga readers, was Isabella's past in the manga too? I don't seem to recall the bits with Ray though I do remember her trying to escape.

Overall, great adaptation. Only problem being some parts were rushed and a lot of really good monologue was left out. However, the direction and production was always on point and I doubt any anime-only would have a problem with this because you'd never know that stuff was left out unless you read the manga. Huge points for the soundtrack, undoubtedly the best part of the adaptation, added so much to each scene especially the escape in this finale. S2 seems inevitable so I'm looking forward to it.

So this is over. Even until the end Yakusoku no Nerverland surprised me : I did not expect the kids to be prepared this way, their plan really flew perfectly, from A to Z.

A great anime that totally deserves a second season ! Now I already booked this one + Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken for 2020.

So....that was it? And they hyped it like it was bigger than Attack on Titan too lol. I hope 2nd season will have better execution than this. Didn't really help that the characters are unlikable especially Emma, except Ray and Phil. The scenes where it drags on for too long is really excruciating for me like wtf is the purpose of making it longer than it should be, use that time for character interactions instead. I know they are kids but, don't you know how to whisper guys? Plot armor their is strong.

I did NOT expect that last eps to be this fucking good. They're really raising the quality for the second half of this 1st season. I haven't liked the changes they made for the other episodes but I like how they made Mama see Emma escaping from her grasp in the end. And that flashback... damn. I also love the way they animated Don throwing the rock and onionhead and his friend launching that rocket. The way that connected it with the flashback is perfect.

And now that this episode is out, I can finally make the joke.

IT'S ANOTHER CLIFFHANGER!!!

I do recall her having that scene with Ray and that scene was slightly longer in the manga (not significantly). There was a bit more monologue from Isabella’s standpoint and I found it a bit more effective in the manga because it helped me sympathize for her character and why she did the things she did. The anime still did pretty well, but the manga did it a little better.

Well this was surprisingly great finale and wraps up very nicely overall!

Overall given this was 12/13 episode so I was expecting somewhat 7/10 experience and it really did delivered overall although there was couple of gripes I had like few episodes appeared little boring for me (especially after the departure of Krone) and not a fan of the flashback technique it uses (like on the 11th episode) and some questionable things that really could have avoid if this wasn't focusing on adding horror elements.

Aside these nitpick, my ultimate gripe was the Ray's va who feels like apparently liked Ray as a character too much to the point was making his character edgier and amplified his voice too loud imo. Great thing this show is getting english dubbed so yay! [and hopefully does tone down minor the horror elements]

If you don’t like her now, you’re REALLY not going to like her when (and if) the anime catches up to the manga currently. I like Emma and even in the last few chapters, I had to scream that she’s being really, stupidly illogical and unreasonable.

Honestly I was going to give it like a 7 because of some things that happened during episodes 6-8 but I really love the twists. Although I still kinda nitpick some stuff because I know these kids are gifted with intelligence but I want to know how that works in that world plus I find it kinda hard to understand how Phil got that prodigy mind at 4 and understand all that. So yeah I am still can't accept that fact with that part of the plot. But besides that 9/10.

Phil is so cute, i wanna touch those cheeks >.<.

Did they change this ending scene? I mean - ---it's not spoiler so im not gonna put spoiler tag-- when Emma was climbing down through the rope, Isabella didnt come out and they never did talk that good bye. By the time Isabelle has arrived, those ropes were ripped off and from our side view, the kids dindt see her coming. I'd prefer this pace, i think it leaves a mysterious aura behind hahaha.

I hope they will announce second season soon

I thought they would fight it out at the bridge with those demons, but damn that was smart of Emma and Norman. That crossing made me emotional to how far they came and the dire obstacles they had to face, even Ray was shocked by the impressive plan. That cliffhanger that Isabelle is Ray's mom got me curious, like was she gonna ship her own child ( how cold).

Overall this was my favorite show on this day and my fifth of this season. Although I haven't read the original source material, so I can't judge it based on that like it was rushed or they omitted some events or it wasn't intense. I can judge the series I have watched and I must say it was good because it depicted an image of an uprising, children who refuse to bow down and accept their fate set for them. To me it showed how weak people can evolve because of a dire situation, situations make a person strong no matter how cornered they are. No matter which pinch or problem assess the situation, take your time and when you attack back, be like a cornered prey.

9/10.

In your case you don't like one character from AOT, but I dislike all of them excluding Phil, Ray, Mom. My point is more character interaction would benefit the anime instead of the unnecessary long scenes like walking past corridors or walking up stairs for what? Just to tense up the mood tho it really doesn't work but makes it annoying cause this anime is rushed and need all the time in order to tell the story and skip less chapters from the manga.

i'm really looking forward to the future seasons because i feel like it felt very cluttered in the manga and some things were confusing due to the art style. while i felt like this season was better handled in the manga, the future seasons might be better as anime due to more action

Man, what an incredible way to conclude this series, just fantastic. Easily my favorite episode without a doubt.

Phil received quite the task, being honest but I think he won't need to worry that much about Isabella since I think she might give him a hand to protect the children until Emma returns... I hope.

That aside, Isabella being Ray's biological mother really caught me off guard. It was a touching revelation and to think that Ray has known it since the beginning made the scene even more impactful. Her backstory was also a nice addition to her development and it helped me understand her character a bit more. As I said before, I don't really hate her since I always found her rather intriguing so I'm really pleased I got to know more about her past and the reasons behind her actions.

Overall, it was pretty thrilling and entertaining series with a very well handled atmosphere and a nice use of its OST. People say the arc following this one isn't that "good" or engaging but I would prefer to judge that by myself. That said, I'll definitely give the manga a chance. 8/10

P.S.: Season II has been announced! What a pleasant surprise :D

Pretty solid. I liked how all the kids trained together for the escape and Ray just had no clue. The entire thing was kinda showing how wrong Ray was. Still they never showed us what happened to Norman. The mom flashback kinda came out of nowhere but in hindsight it was fitting. The Ray twist was pretty cool too.

Well I liked it for the most part, though I seldom felt any sort of tension. Especially in the first half. It was mainly last episodes cliffhanger and when they broke into Mom's secret room that really made me tense up. The master plan coming together at the end is pretty sweet tho.

With season two announced I may read the manga up to chapter 37 so I can see everything that was cut.

Damn, coming into this as an anime only viewer, this show was damn good. Pretty much everyone seems to recommend the manga due to a lot of cut content so I'll probably check that out at some point too.

Blew my mind when they revealed that almost all of the kids had known the truth for basically the whole show. The scene with Norman and Emma hanging laundry was in a super early episode. Also explains why some of the kids inexplicably acted the way they did in certain scenes the first time. Also crazy how Norman had this all planned out behind Ray's back. The reveal of Ray being Isabelle's biological son was pretty crazy too, and he knew the whole time. Seeing the terror on her face when first knowing her own son was in her plant was priceless.

Isabelle was a pretty selfish character even if they tried to make it seem like she had a kind heart at the end. She was originally going to escape by herself. Then made the choice to become a mom to live longer. Then even said to Ray she gave birth to him for survival. Though she didn't elaborate I'm assuming the HQ must place higher value in mom's who actually give birth to future harvested kids. Then at the end the only reason she even became nice and hoped for their safety is because she flat out lost with nothing she could do. If she could've grabbed Emma or some of the younger kids or done something to stop them she still would've been smug and menacing. When she said she lost and gave up I actually thought she was going to hang herself with the escape rope for a second there.

I will say though, Isabelle with her hair down is 11/10 waifu bait. And child Isabelle was easily the cutest of all the kids in the show. Lets also take a moment to appreciate the fact that Yuuko Kaida was like, the PERFECT choice for her too. She had that perfect soothing motherly voice and could flip that switch to psychotic extremely well.

Overall I enjoyed the fuck out of this and I'm curious to see where the story goes in the second season. I'm eager to see where the escaped kids end up on this journey. The farm had so many plot twists and suspenseful mind games going on that really made it interesting, so I'm also curious to see how/if those same kinds of themes take place when they're outside and not trying to out smart Isabelle.

OHMYGOD!!!!! The Best Ending!!!!! I already know what will happen but they animate it so well!!! It makes me emotional and I cried T-T and feel nervous too when Isabella chase them! hahah I nearly scream :D

This is the best episode of this anime aside from Episode 1, this anime makes my heart broken when Connie ship out until Norman, I read the manga because I thought I can never watch it again because it's so sad, but manga is so good that I binge read it, I still prefer the manga though, but the music and everything makes me like this adaptation too.. especially on the flashback of Isabella's life and the song Leslie plays, makes me really cry! And Norman!! I thought he's with them and I really happy when I read it on manga, but he never shows up again! make's me confuse but still many revelations to come!! I'm so excited for the next season next year!! :) I hope they adapt until Goldy Pond :)

Okay, I'm already sure.. this is my ANIME OF THE YEAR <3
