I really liked the setting and atmosphere of this episode, but...

Could anyone be that kind to explain the plot of it to me? 😅
I watch it in sub eng, so probably i have understood far less than how could i have if i watched it with the sub of my language.. And furthermore, i'm not that great with understanding of spies' stories in general, even if they are not that complex like this one.. Fact is, i feel like i missed so many particulars :(

I'm glad that this exceeded my expectations. The setting and steampunk was nice and the girls are capable at their jobs.

My only complaint is that the girl's designs when compared to the designs of the men and adults here. But that's a minor thing and something I can easily overlook as the series goes on.

The ED was cute.

Would have liked if they toned down speed of those cars to match the age and if spies actually acted as spies, not announcing their position all the time but I guess it wasn't bad per se as the ending twist was kinda good.

The background art and animation is really nice though.

As for the OST, can't really say much about it as there was hardly anything to notice even when it was written by Kajiura.

I was worried this was going to be just a moe blob anime trying to be more serious but failing, but I was pleasantly surprised, somehow everything fitted together perfectly. I still can't take such character designs much seriously in this kind of setting, but I'must not complaining, they'really very pleasing to the eye.

Exciting opening scene. Really interesting setting. I'm digging this one so far. I made my peace with the whole "but why must they be school students?" thing before the premier, lol.

Well, looks like the "moe"-esque princess designs and "royal academy" are just nominal so far, probably to try and increase viewership, or maybe it'll be story-related later. In the context of the show now, I suppose it works as the typical alias, but whatever the case, the lack of inane school hijinx in this opener is something I welcome and really hope stays as is...please? That's really my one concern at this point, because everything else looks solid.

Surprised by how dense this first episode was. I went back and watched it twice and there was a fair bit I missed the first time around. Regarding the plot, things seemed pretty cohesive; motives make sense and the essential clues revealing deceptions were still shown to the viewer well in advance, albeit very subtly. The twist about the life insurance was awesome. If it keeps this up I could easily see myself watching every episode multiple times just out of interest. Honestly I could see this show work either episodically or following a story arc.

The fact that everyone keeps lying about even small or side stuff is great. That bucket lol. Ange's bluntness and frequent fibbing definitely makes her a decent lead so far. I have to wonder which of the so-called "lies" are actually truths after all. I suspect Ange really did see her parents murdered or at least kidnapped, especially with the strong hint of a backstory involving something "taken from her". Wasn't the only hint at backstory either, so hopefully the main cast will all be fleshed out somewhat.

Digging the jazz soundtrack so far, especially that opening! And of course, 3Hz pulls through with the visuals. Solid animation, great lighting and atmosphere and detailed backgrounds. Even the CG was well-integrated, barely noticeable and not at all immersion-breaking. I'm sure the lighting helped with that.

In all, a solid and engaging start. Hope it can keep up!

This was surprisingly good. I did not expect this at all. I thought if was going to be your token moeblobs looking cute while fighting show, but there's a lot more story and subtlety than expected. Look forward to seeing this.

This episode definitely surprised me and was thoroughly entertaining! Though I have one little doubt: what did the scientist do that made him deserve a death penalty? Not giving his sister the cure? I wouldn't say so

Looks promising so far.

Interesting setting with a dark tone gave off a good vibe and there was also a bit dry humor mixed in, that's a big + in my book.

Overall a solid watch, Ange shooting Eric even gave me chills, the OST was very nice.

The concept of this anime is amazingg literally , I loveee how the story's going and the characters are pretty awesome and cute <3 especially Ange <3 <3 <3 and the art is really great , Ange's a really kind and a smart girl and lying helps her a lot , I think she doesn't want to believe the truth so that's why she lies and i think that's related to her past , SHE'S SO BEAUTIFUL THO <3 <3 <3 <3 .. I like how those girls handle missions and they're really cute for a bunch of spies lol <3 <3 ... Anyways , I think this anime got a lot of potential because the stroy and the characters are really nice and great and it's really enjoyable and it's going to get much better {--": and I'm so ready for more , Looking Forward !!!!

Interesting first episode that had a interesting premise and introduced an interesting world and interesting characters. A really smart and slick first episode and i hope that it keeps up.

Interesting opening theme. Not often you hear English but i guess it fits well with the premise and setting. Their first mission which was a rescue operation was pretty well done and showed just how much skill the girls actually had. Wow thats one way of ridding pursuers. Picking a school as the hiding place was a interesting move. Each of the girls seem to be pretty interesting with Ange being the most at this point. Eric's motivation to defect was interesting though. The twist for this mission when it came was pretty well done. But what was the most surprising was how the agency mounted a counter ambush against the ambushers lol. Their second mission though really topped the first one in showing the skills of the girls. Beatrice really surprised me with her skill of voice changing though. Lol so thats what the insurance was for eh. Its sad that things had to end this way but man Ange is really good at lying even she's shooting someone lol.

Good first Episode, Steampunk setting is kind of my favourite era. Characters looks cool and interesting, especially Ange. Also Good Opening and Animations.
This Series have potential to become one of good Anime for this season, especially when It's an Original series.

That was actually sad in the End though.

Really liked the visuals and the music. Didn't plan to watch this at first. (Girls + school stuff sounded annoying.) But when I heard some guy did the script who also worked at Code Geass, Valvrave - I decided to watch episode 1.

Yeah ... was not that bad. The older chars are nice. The setting as well. Maybe we'll get some episodical spy stuff like Joker Game. Only the girls I did not like that much. Too bad I didn't really like at least one of them. They weren't annoying ... but they also were not interesting. At least not yet.

Edgy moeblobs in a steampunk London... Too bad it's moeblobs, it's impossible to take it seriously with a bunch of lolis. Could be what that last spy title was supposed to be if it wasn't boring as hell. Not then, not now, maybe next spy series will be fine.

Didn't finish the first episode. I was the most hyped for this show and I liked the music and character designs and all, but the plot was really confusing and seemed like typical anime stuff. The show is also too dark so I can't see anything in the background during action scenes and stuff. If the MAL score goes up then I'll come back to it because it seems that everyone else thinks its just ok...

It was meh...
I find it stupid that a lot of anime have little girls that do the fighting. It just doesn't make sense. In this anime, that's the case. The better have a good reasoning for it. Shit better be explained. I have a lot of questions for this anime, that will or will not be answered down the road.

The series was honestly a bit darker then expected, and I like dark series. Good dark series that is.
I couldn't really dig Ange's character, she's too dull and uninteresting, and lacks personality. I like her lying humor though, especially when she killed Eric.

Another complaint is how rushed it is.

Aaaah, a girls with guns with Yuki Kajiura for the ost, that old formula is soooo nostalgic. It's early 2000 Bee train all over again, and I'm definitely on board for more of that.
This time with Steam Punk mixed in, can't say I'm unhappy with that either.

Cool! I like the setting but I'm not sure how I feel about killer girls flying with some sort of power through the air. Will have to wait and see how this turns out.

Wow, that was really exciting. Easily one of the most entertaining starts of the season, can't believe I decided to pass on this at first. Thanks to @Tokoya for setting me straight. XD

I love the fantasy/steam punkish 19th century setting, I'm actually really interested in the structure of London and these gadgets and that new element or whatever they seem to be using.

The spy work and it's presentation is fantastic, the action was really awesome and I absolutely loved that little infiltration they did at the hospital especially that sedation on the girl in the adjacent bed. The car chases and the final take over of the enemy HQ was great as well. I totally did not expect that other girl to change her voice and speak like that.

The characters themselves are pretty interesting and the whole 'lying' factor is what makes it work, my favorite part about this was when Ange said that everything she said including her backstory was just a lie to draw out the scientist's guys true motives. I totally didn't expect that she was lying all along.

Pretty brutal execution at the end, I actually thought Ange missed her shot at first and decided to let him walk free out of compassion or something. Well the scientist dude should've known what he was getting into, at least his sister was saved.

Very impressive start overall, can't wait for more.

Mmh... a rather pretty cavorite-punk victorian spy drama, stupidly played by cute anime gothic lolitas who are actually more James Bond than spies.

Not only is the girls(+young woman) look almost alien to the rest of the design (background, male charadesign) but they also uselessly wear gothic clothes.

Technically good, a bit too actiony maybe but it had to happen fora first episode.
And what is the point of having Kajiura's music if you can barely hear it? (couldn't even follow the in-episode song)

3.5-/5

Next time, I want an animated series/movie based on La Brigade Chimérique.
