It's nice that Ema finally opened itself to other's help, at least a bit. I kinda half-expect that cat when they went out but it was good nonetheless.

But why I am feeling Kao-chan isn't happy in her work? Or did she leave the company?

Watched this episode in a row with the previous episode 7.
All it takes is a walk to get one back.(Which is something really good to do if one is struck; whether is it doing an art piece, writing a story or even solving a maths question-that works for me sometimes when I take a bicycle ride around my neighborhood) Even so, sometimes just like Ema, when I see I have a tight schedule in my work, I tend not to do that(taking a walk that is) b'cos I would feel I am wasting time doing this than working on my work.(Ema's lucky she got a good senpai that sort of 'dragged' her along to a park for a walk.)
Also, I was surprised by the blunt out confession of the megane girl that animators copied their seniors' work until they could draw their own ones. In the past, there was a time I remembered I felt that I was a failed artist for only copying other people work; in other words, I shouldn't see myself as an artist but rather a copycat... It was a moment of depression until I realise I couldn't give up art just like that and continue to draw to get my own style and of course create my own characters.(Which I find myself able to do that but not able to do fanart after that-.-')
Glad that Ema managed to overcome this problem of hers. And then there's Aoi's sister.-I suppose that is the life of a working adult... Even worse is when people pick on you, blaming for things you didn't do and doing errands... It's a nice deviation of reality from animation studio jobs to show about other jobs' 'problems'.
P.S. Once again, I ramble a lot, especially when I can relate to the characters in a show... TBH, I find this show very close to reality yet again it is an anime so it is not real. Seeing the characters chasing their dreams/working towards their dreams- if only it was that easy in reality... Complications and stuff like financial are factors that deviate ppl from their dreams b'cos in the end while working in your dream job is the best, one still need to face the reality that his/her dream job may not ensure his/her survival in the society and such is the truth all teenagers face when they realise that their childhood dreams are unrealistic...

Episode enjoyable and interesting for the implications that are related to the personal sphere of the main and secondary characters. Maybe there were "always" ready to help their colleagues so as in the case of Ema-chan. Really great designs, who knows if they will improve even in home video version; beautiful animations fluid and beautiful colors.
Interesting also to discover the past of MUSANI and college Ema-cha, I did not think they were so old; Ghotic-sensei takes them well his years, LOL!

The only merit to that face is that it's pretty trolly.

I am sure that this is a classic.

On the other hand, a lot of people want to come home from work, turn their
brains off and watch a more typical anime series. So it doesn't surprise me
that some people are rating it low.

After all, Aoi's neighbor stays up all night watching Dostoyevsky movies for fun.

Monster is a classic. This is not a classic. Just because people were giving this show a low rating doesn't mean that all they watch is mindless action anime 24/7.

The animation parts are interesting. The problem is that I could care less about the MCs and how cute they are. They're just not interesting at all.

Agreed. It's a documentary and a slice of life at best. I like the flow of the show because of the focus on anime production, and the MCs trying to grow into the roles they're dreaming of is great, but calling it a classic is too optimistic at episode 8.

Holy crap what an episode, so much relatable stuff. I like how someone in a previous forum pointed out the Director of this series has admitted Tarou is based on him when he was younger. And in this episode we learn he foolishly believes he will be a Director someday.

I liked the conclusion of Ema's arc it's where we got a lot of the shows surprising well of wisdom this week. Yumi's quoting "Ask and be a fool for a minute, ask not and be a fool for a lifetime." was clever, purposeful and amusing. Her advice to take a walk and the really pleasant subsequent walk we see was really solid work advice. I'm glad the old dude got a lot to do in Ema's arc these past two episodes. I figured they had something planned for him when he just kept saying "I'll be going home now" for multiple episodes in a row. And this was about what I expected, but a satisfying payoff.

I also found myself really moved by the sister's story. Kaori's plight of being unsatisfied with her bank job was quietly heartbreaking. And as someone who's an adult with a sibling I don't see that often because we live in different cities the ending got the feels going man. A little too real.

But hey it seemed like she had a lot of fun with Rii-chan who's still really cute in those glasses.

-Haven't actually said this in my previous posts in episode topics but the opening animation is actually pretty nice
-Aoi's sister's office actually looks really dreary
-The break room seems pretty colorful though
-Something about the first scene with Ema and the old guy (specifically the eating part) tells me that something's wrong with Crunchy subs
-Wait a minute wasn't the old guy's whole schtick that he didn't draw moe stuff? Because that bear thing seemed pretty moe.
-Yeah Tarou's pretty much the whole reason I'm still watching this
-This is all going over my head and I'm feeling the lack of name placard things pretty heavily. You pretty much have to have at least some knowledge of anime production before watching this.
-Come to think of it I probably should have been Googling all the positions when they started going over my head
-Somehow I don't think "camera" is being used right in Crunchy's subs
-So the doll's name is Mimuji which might be a reference to something I don't know about
-Poor GI Staff guy
-Who the fuck was that guy with the bike
-At least I still recognize Segawa
-Ema seems to have obtained a cat anatomy reference book
-I will also admit that the backgrounds and art and stuff is actually very pretty-looking
-Using my extensive context clue skills and vague memories from the first episode I can conclude that the old guy's name is Sugie
-The walk scene was actually pretty nice
-Something tells me that the director scene toward the end was a big reference that I couldn't pick up

The second half of the episode was a lot better than the first half.

This would be one of the few jobs where watching cat videos at work is actually productive.

Haha Miyazaki Isao.

Why is Rinko referred to as "Rinko-han"????

So... what makes this anime so highly rated? Have seen 8 episodes now and I am dying from boredom..

Is it really getting better? Please explain to me cuz I'm not impossible to convince (I don't mind spoilers from animes I'm about to drop, cuz they're like the only thing that can get my intrest back sometimes)

Loved how their showed the boring routine of Aoi's sister life, it made me feel kind of sad ;_; Main girls are going through difficult stuff, stressing out because of their work, but in the end they are doing something they love... Aoi's sister on the other hand seems fed up with her colleagues and lack of any interesting events in her life. That's depressing...

Was about to smack Ema at the beginning. She was outright told it's ok to ask for help, and she just goes back to her dark corner - sigh-.

Good thing her superiors were kind people and willing to help. Others could have just let her be.

Kaori's sister was a bit annoying but now I get why she was acting that way. Maybe the five girls can inspire her to look for a better career. I also liked the part where the animators went for a walk in the park and bothered that cat.

Hmm not sure what to think about the lesson of this episode. I think it's a good thing to have a dream you wanna achieve, on the other hand it might also be good not to have a dream so you won't be disappointed.

Fine episode. Not too spectacular or interesting, but not boring either and it was nice seeing Ema go outside and visually observe and play with the feline creatures to get a little more of a feel in the imagination zone for how to draw them out. Sometimes to break out of a block like this, you have to confront the source head-on.

Great episode as usual, and great that Ema is getting over her slump! Love how grandfatherly Sugie is, it feels like he's watching over all his kouhais.

I was pretty interested about Kaori, but it seems it could've used more development. I'm not 100% sure what the problem with her old job was, but I guess it was something like she was getting tired of it. But what I'm more not sure of is how she got over it. Did she just need a breather? I thought there'd be more development on that. Well, what can you do?
