People are finally pointing out what I was trying to say from the get go.

I also think there'd be more success here if they let someone produce the anime. Yes, they'd loose some control but at this point that may be the only way to get this out.

$232,000 - 40% - Animation Production - This is the budget for the actual design, direction, and animation of said 24 mins. Note the project will actually cost closer to $350,000.

$174,000 - 30% - Backer Rewards - Budget for reward production, warehousing, shipping, etc.

$87,000 - 15% - Pre-Production - Money we would like to recoup from investing our own funds in the trailer (of which we have actually spent in excess of $100,000)

$29,000 - 5% - Operational Costs - Budget for operational costs such as daily staff, web hosting, paying bills, etc.

$29,000 - 5% - KS fees - KS levies fees for all KS campaigns. They need to make their money too

$29,000 - 5% - Amazon Credit Card fees - The fees from Amazon Payments

Well if they just cut that from the budget they could produce it.

I am confused on the rewards. I want to pledge enough for a shirt, anyone know how much I should to be able to get it?

Too much money for my standards. Also, it doesn't look that much better than ongoign anime. I just got reminded of Psycho-pass whose authors pomised me something moe-less and brutal and I got that fish-faced female inspector who whined and whined and whined etc...
I am not falling for this anymore.

I don't watch anything with harems in it (though I have seen some of them so that I could judge them rightfully), so I am giving my couple of cents to the "right" (imo) side.

I won't back this thing up, sorry. Too much money and too little to offer.
I hope I am not sorry.

They want you to pay them to make a series that they plan to make money off?

Yeah, fuck off.

EDIT: LOL ONE EPISODE

have fun with funding it... maybe you can pay the $10,000 and be all the talk when you are featured as a common soldier who gets shot in the head after two lines of engrish.

I dunno whether to celebrate or face palm and wonder f people really know what they're getting from this.

Whatever, just hope this will evolve into something that does the story justice.

I think this project will totally change the whole Anime world if not have a big impact on the current Anime meta. I've donated a few bucks for the kick starter, hope it will be a successful one.

Well a miracle has occurred and it actually seems like this will be funded (mysterious benefactor?). Tbh though, my impression of this is that it might just be one giant glorified AMV - Not much room for story, people might get angry.

This show has to set a good precedent for more projects like it to succeed in the future, where the producers completely swear off typical sources of funding and go %100 crowdsource in order to make whatever they want however they want - It'll be interesting to see what they can bring to the table with ~20 minutes.

Some more interesting info reported by ANN

- There are talks that it will be distributed by CR and Netflix

- The plan is a 3-part OVA
- There is a plan that outlines a potential full 2 cour (26 episodes) in the future. However, the current plan is still 3 part ova followed by feature films

Welp i stand corrected on this not passing its goal, I kind of neglected just how helpful the final days of the crowdfunding can be. i remmember the movie from 5 seconds films was only half its goal when until its final 4 days when it went 100 K over its 300K goal

I don't have any expectations for this. It seems needlessly over-hyped, just like RWBY was, which ended up being absolute garbage.

Yeah it looks like this will probably fail to meet its funding from the looks of it. Even one of their updates make it sound pretty aware how slim their chances are looking(the one where they are talking about the graphs)

Holy crap Under The Dog made it. I read Hideo Kojima gave some support by endorsing it so maybe that helped a bit as well.

Now I must go commit seppuku for doubting it's success. I have dishonoured my family and Hideo Kojima.

Well, we can add it to the MAL database then.
I personally hope the OVAs and the movie are selfcontained enough despite them being the first part of an intended franchise.

Iirc there were a few statistics that stated roughly 30% of the money are usually made in the last 3 days or so if a certain critical point has been reached and there is a chance it might get funded. It's normal behaviour.
