Ugh. This is still so painful to watch.

Even I incompletely played the game and gained some knowledge, my head painfully hurts while watching this bullshit.

The only good thing about this episode was Ueda Kana's voice narrating other then that i have not much good to say about this anime.
Pretty much that bored look the pink haired character had at the start of this episode was the look i had this entire episode, to much cliche things happening to much action and nothing interesting happening.
This anime isn't meant for me.

I don't think this deserves all the hate, but I can understand why both fans to the game and "newcomers" would find faults in this.
Here's my opinion so far:

1: The animation is a bit wonky sometimes, but I wouldn't say it's all that bad.
2: The fight scenes so far are a bit disappointing. (Seeing how there are stuff like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M93nzGVFIIU .) Sometimes, there are moments that look good... and sometimes we just get some flashes. (e.g around 4:58 in this episode.) Also, the effects seem a bit... lacking (Jin's ice, Ragna's azure).
3: I like the character designs. Apart from a few derpy faces here and there. I really like the design of Rachel, Noel and Kokonoe.
4: I actually liked what I saw after Ragna vs Nu. This version seemed to have a bit more "oompf" to it than in the game for me, and I don't mind them making Ragna look a bit more unstable mentally.
5: Overall, it just feels... strange. So far, I get the feeling that instead of a separate anime, these should be cinematics included in the game.

The episode was okay I guess. Didn't enjoy any of the episodes so far. I'm clueless as shit.
"Children of Japan. And those who were once children. Listen! This is not a dream. This is not fiction. In reality, your superheroes were always fighting. To teach viewers courage and the meaning of justice! No matter how many enemies there are. No matter how strong evil is. Just remember. Does any another country have so many heroes? Has any another country been protected by multiple superheroes? Stand with me, friends! Remember when you used to watch your superheroes!
Once you may have given up this dream. But today, you can be a hero!"

Too much Noel and Nu in this. Didn't like... But animation made really well, it's beautiful to watch ^^

This anime makes me hate those character which I hate in the games even more and love characters I love even more. In game you don't have to certain characters more than once or twice in storyline but now I have to watch what those characters are doing while character you care do something else.

Really looking forward to see more characters~~ Now only seen most of my favs and all my dislike ones...

Well the next episode preview shows the church so they actually might explain something about the past of Ragna/Jin/Saya. However at this point I dont expect them to explain anything about the war against the black beast and the NOL and thats exactly what this show needs right now. The show needs to do some world buliding to establish the setting.

I have a feeling they can explain that quite easily, they have so many ways they could, like using Jubei to explain it or having Hakumen having flashbacks about it or whatever have you. Honestly though the biggest draw for this anime for me is the characters, which seems surprisingly fitting for the game, I just hope they have the time to flesh out all the characters a bit, I especially wanna see my 2 mains, Trinity and Makoto have some time put into them XD

Yeah but the pacing would just be weird, I think the best way to explain the backstory of blazblue was showing a scene of Ragna and Nu transforming into the black beast and another scene Jin becoming Hakumen back at the very beginning of episode 1. This way newcomers would atleast know why Jin and Hakumen want Ragna dead and besides if just use some Jubei/Hakumen flashbacks of them fighting the black beast the audience would not know why Ragna is a threat to the world and this is actually fairly important to the story. Then they could have just used Rachel telling the events of the dark war. I know its a rather cheap way of world buliding, but hey atleast it gets the job done.

Edit: Also I hate how this episode handled the fights with Ragna. Ragnas Soul eater involves summoning parts of the black beast. In this episode he doesnt summon parts of the black beast, or atleast it doesnt look like it, its more like he is throwing red energy beams. The scene where he used dead spike against hakumen looked specially bad.

the pacing is bleh but i'm still enjoying the series (with a little help from knowing some backstory from the games). Gonna stick with it all the way though! Never dropped a series yet and i'm not planning on starting anytime soon! Go ahead and drop it and don't come back! That means less negativity for everyone else who's is/still enjoying the series (so far)!

directing was even more all over the place

Agree, the directing was very bad.

First half was very rushed, I don't understand shit, how did that "Saya" reached there? What's all that about? I don't get anything. Second half was pretty cool though. The pacing is real bad.

I actually laughed when that green hair dude said "Bingo" after that 'Saya' saved 'Ragna' lol.

All in all really rushed, and no explanation given.

I like it when Hakumen said "Ware wa Ku, Ware wa Ko, Ware wa Jin, ......" His voice <3 Really fitting imo.

As a anime based on a fighting game, the fight scenes are very poor. How many times are they gonna zoom out only to show characters moving so fast you can only see sparks? I do hope they improve them.

That's my only current issue with the anime.

I played Calamity Trigger so I can follow the story pretty well. Sure, they cut corners, but all in all (as far as I remember) they follow the storyline quite well.

Face it guys, Calamity Triggers' story WAS short. Of course they can't spend 10 episodes on it.

And for those who are confused with the story, I really recommend playing the games first. After that, watch this again. Everything that happens will make a lot more sense to you. Oh, and take the time to explore every ending for every character.

Just my 2 cents

I don't understand a thing, ughh...
It's really confusing... The pacing is really fast...

I'm not sure if it's right or not...
But, this is what i got from the story so far....

- They're trapped in some kind of Time Loop.
- Ragna is a bearer of some kind of darkness power, along with Nu. In the end, both of them are destined to destroy the world together.
- A random mysterious person trying to get a better ending, so he triggered the Time Loop. In this case, the only person who know about this are only Hazama and that cute vampire ! So, they're the main suspects ! :D
- Unfortunately, the fate can't be changed.
- But, the power of love saves the day !

-Correct
-Correct about Ragna, but not about Nu. Hopefully they will explain this later on.
-False, again, hopefully they explain the Time Loop later on and why these persons know about it
-So far, they weren't able to change it
-Not quite sure myself, I rather believe it is Ragna's memory of Saya that triggered the Continuum Shift

EDIT: Nu and Ragna are indeed destined do destroy the world together

This appears to suffer badly from the Video Game Adaptation Curse. The fighting isn't that great (they even have near 5 games to choose moves from, come on guys!), and suffers pacing issues. We are running straight for Continuum Shift, and nobody except people who played the games would know what is going on.

Going based off playing and completing Continuum Shift Extend, Not only is it impossible to condense everything into 12 episodes, it most certainly isn't wise.

I'm gonna cross my fingers and hope we slow down to get into the meat of why all of this is happening, have better fights (since it is the reason people play fighting games), and make space for a potential second season. But I feel like that might not happen.

4/10, poor, but redeemable (if it isn't too late already)

I actually liked this ep a lot. The part where noel saves ragna was pretty dramatic and i think it was well executed. Most people are lost- and they should be. If you play the original game story for the first time, it's pretty damn confusing too, esp. with the thing you saw at the end and what not.
Though it does help to know A LITTLE BIT about the background (such as the black beast)... I mean compare it to like kyoukaisen, I think this adapation's doing pretty well "showing" its universe to its fullest.

this anime hasnt shown ANY of its universe, so far we have seen the cauldron and a shipping yard, no backstory or sensory details, not anything that the game actually explains, calmity trigger was pretty confusing but there was a clear goal in mind with its writing and it showed, with this its impossible to tell what the hell they are even going for and its shaping up to not explain any of the backstory

3/5

The great thing about seeing so many anime series is that even though the narration tells you the events so lousy or even tries, on the other hand you already know where you want to end up! XD
This does not mean that in the end the vote will still low! XD
Plot still indecipherable, for now this episode and the previous one are served, as I presume, to act as a preamble to the story that will start only next time. As mentioned before, the story is for anyone who has not played the game a real Swiss cheese, then you do not understand a lot of events. But the knowing something has already guessed. Characters who for their part, han good to now only the characterization that comes from the costume design, very nice. * _ *
For the rest, analyzing their behaviors are really scarce. Ragna knows only rant! What the hell is! LOL
Animations and fell a little in my opinion.
Yeah, we did not, it deserves as much if you vote 3/5! ^ ^ "

Don't even know what is going on really... except they are in some time loop that they can't change, plot isn't very cohesive and doesn't really follow well...

Fights are kinda poorly animated as well, though still alright.

Wouldn't say i dislike it all that much, but i don't particularly like it either. Average, with what seems to me like a LOT of lost potential because of a low budget. I'll watch it through to the end anyways, it's only 12 episodes and it's not all that bad :P

I thought that in the first game, Ragna falls with Nu and Jin fails to save him after killing Noel...I've only played a few hours of the game but thats what I understood from it.

Noel and Nu's fight was decent, but the way Noel acted after with Ragna was a little weird.
