This is one of the few things that had made me cry. I was wonder how a bunch of stuff would be explained in the last few minutes but I know that wasn't going to happen. I wish they had more to continue on. This anime really had me hooked I watch it all in about a day.

well I can say that the anime ended good but left something unanswered but I'm guessing their leaving it at that episode and not going to make a second season since the manga was still on-going but it took long to finish but if you want to know what happenes read the manga all of your unanswered question will answered

I give this a 10/10
mostly because I enjoyed all the episodes up till the end

I have a theory as to why that is the case.
Let's look at the tags for the anime:
Genres: Comedy, Drama, Romance, Shoujo, Slice of Life.
Romance, really? I failed to find that in the anime at all, and that is exactly why the manga appears to be better: It actually includes romance.

Well, to be fair the romance in the manga starts around the time the anime ends..which is my biggest problem with the anime as I thought the second half of the manga was the best part of manga as a whole.

Argh, rushed ending. But something that slightly irritated me in the last few episodes, were the long drawn-out pauses, especially in the rainy scenes. There was Touru at the tree doing... that, and then Kyou's teacher gets there, and like... three entire minutes pass with them doing nothing, as a still image... then Kyou's teacher says something, and another minute passes... I mean, meh.

But everything else beyond that was great, I can't give the series anything lower than an 8/10, but certainly can't give it a 10/10. Hmm.

Guess I'll have to read the manga. Damn, I already started reading the manga and I liked the art style in the anime better. It's too shoujouey with the male characters. ;______; Oh well. I'll learn to like it, probably.

Just finished it and I haven't decided to give it a 7 or 8. I thought it was going at a fine pace to start off with but with what I thought would be filler with the Yuki fan club episode they could of maybe put in another Zodiac character into it. It annoys me there is so many unanswered questions, now onto the Manga.

I have to say I was dissappointed by this series. It really didn't live up to the hype. A lot of filler episodes plus gags that get old quickly.

Reading some comments it's clear to me that the manga is better and might explain the reputation that Fruits Basket has.

When this anime was created the manga was still ongoing. In order to provide some sort of an ending a number of characters and plot points were omitted. Unless they do a remake I think you have to take this for what it was (which was pretty good) and read the manga to discover why the story is in such high regard.

PROS:
Dialog was very good.
Except for the 22nd episode (the fan girl's) the entire show was enjoyable.
Human relationships were well analyzed, well animated, realistic and consistent . Relationships are very important for me in anime.
Human psychology analysis were good.
It had funny and emotional scenes.

CONS:
Very bad and inadequate ending. That sick guy got persuaded too easily.
Story didn't finish at the end.

SUM:
It was satisfying. It actually deserves 8/10, but because of good relationship desing and high quality dialogs, I will give one extra points.
Score: 9/10

People go read the manga. Its a masterpiece and ALL your answers will be replied. It was the best shoujo manga Ive read in my whole anime/manga life. Besides there are nice thingies about Akito that werent revealed in the anime. Surprising things XD and new characters (the rest of the zodiac, yay!).

Anyway, even if the anime has huge plot holes, its still touching. Makes me bawl like a baby.
09/10 because I really like the characters and story. (manga=10 without hesitation).

Even though I feel unsettled with the ending, I have to say that this anime was a lot different than I expected it to be whenever I first saw the description. I am really glad that I watched it. At least now I have something good to read for the future.

And so it ends. Well, I have to say it was a pretty good ending, though then again I'm sad it ended so soon. As I understand it wasn't continued so maybe I'll have a look at the manga. Anyway, the show was really great, the plot was interesting, there were many adorable characters, the humor was enjoyable too.

I actually think this is the best Shoujo I have ever seen. Normally not a fan, but this had a strong atmosphere, likable characters, some realistic portrayals of emotion and human psyche, and some tragic moments were portrayed very well and hit home.

Granted the ending was far from conclusive, but this is to be expected due to being ongoing at the time. Pity that a season 2 of the anime never actualized to complete the story, but alas this is an all to common malady that anime suffer.

I give it a 9/10, the highest score I have marked a shoujo. Still I likely won't check out the manga to reach a conclusion.

I have mixed feelings about this episode. The raining scene was too long, they could have shortened it to maybe 5 mins at most. Then there's Akito who is very cold and mean to Tohru. However, I don't hate him because it is sad that he carries a burden with him which is the curses. Overall, the show was good. It certainly leaves viewers wanting more and making them go read the manga.

I'm so sad it's over and there's not a Season 2! But I know there's a ton more of the manga after all this so I'll start reading the manga soon...definitely a lot of unanswered questions that the manga will answer for me :)

I hate Akito so much, poor Tohru...that entire scene was making my blood boil!

I loved the beginning, after everything worked out Kyo was in cat form and she carried him back to the house...I thought that was adorable xD

As much as I've loved Fruits Basket up until this point, I'll agree with the consensus that this episode left much to be desired. I suppose I should have expected it to end with loose ends and unfinished business, but it still leaves a bit of a sour taste when you realize that there's never going to be a sequel.

The first part with Kyo was emotional albeit it felt like it was lacking the punch it could have had. I don't think Tohru's ever dealt with anything of heavy consequence in regards to the Souma family and their curse, so to see how deep and dark it ran was a huge wake up call for her. I like how she admitted that she was indeed afraid, but desperately wanted to accept Kyo regardless of her fear. She couldn't solve everything just by smiling and being selfless and she realized that. Initially I wasn't feeling this sudden shift in Tohru's mindset, but when considering how sharply it contrasts with what Kyo's mother had done, I feel it worked out well.

The second part with Akito, however, was a true eye opener. I was holding my breath anxiously awaiting what Tohru would have to say to Akito. I can't say I felt for him much, but I really like what Tohru had to say. That he was alive. That she didn't know what she could do for him, but he was indeed alive. Earlier in the series, it had been mentioned that Akito hated everything he didn't know concerning the matters of the Souma family. So for him to openly admit "I don't know" to Tohru after all of that. Really a brilliant display of how even Akito has been changed by Tohru.

Overall Fruits Basket has truly been a treat. I whimsically picked it up after seeing the title here and there for some time. It had me laughing, tearing up, and floating on clouds from sheer bliss. Tohru was absolutely precious and it was always heartwarming to see how she kept infecting the Soumas with her optimism and encouragement. The Zodiac theme was very intriguing (most especially the hug curse!) and it brought in both sheer hilarity but also the serious consequences that came with them. If there's one thought to take away, it's that life is what you make of it and how even in the face of hard times, Tohru was able to light up her world with brilliance.

9/10, I'll have to throw the manga on PTR just to be safe.

Boring main characters. Literally zero character development throughout the entire series.

Things left unexplained. Is there a way to end the curse. Why are these individuals born with the curse? What happens when they die? How did electrical girl get her powers?

How are you people crying over this? Whata bunch of babies. Crying over scenes that are not even that sad. Then again you guys are the same people who think shows like Clannad are actually good.
